Recording mechanism for liquid dispensing device. The present invention relates to a recording mechanism for a liquid dispensing apparatus provided with a volumetric quantity indicator - and a price indicator; the latter being a function of the volumetric quantity delivered and the unit price, and obtained by means of a speed variator.
According to the invention, the numberer indicating the volumetric quantity delivered is connected to a totalizer of the volumetric quantities, by means of a differential, the whole being under the effect of a spring loaded by the first numberer and causing the transport of the recorded indications of the first dialer on the totalizer, this transport being prevented by locking means as long as no manual operation has been taken on these means, their release then leaving the spring to disarm and recalling the first dialer to zero while conveying the indication it carried on the volumetric quantity totalizer.
In addition, the second numberer, indicating the price of the quantity debited, is also connected to a second totalizer, or price totalizer, by means of a second differential, similar means being provided for preventing and causing the transport. of the recorded indications of the second number on the second totalizer, the same manual operation simultaneously causing the two numberers to be recalled to zero.
The accompanying drawing gives, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, in which the volumetric meter of the liquid dispensing device (not shown) drives a main axis 1 including the. rotation is proportional to. the quantity of liquid delivered.
The main axis 1 in turn is behind, on the one hand, a first numberer 2, 3, indicating, at each operation, the volumetric quantity of the liquid discharged, that is to say the number of liters, and a first totalizer 4, totaling the volu metric quantities debited, on the other hand, by the intermediary of a variable speed drive or tariff changer device 5 a second numeral 6, 7, indicating the price in francs and centimes, of the quantity volumetric figure in the first numberer \ ?, 3, and a second totalizer 8, totaling the price of all the liquid debited.
The first numberer 2, 3 is driven by the main axis 1 via the angle wheels 9, 10, the differential 11 and the toothed wheels 12, 13. When the first ta, insert 2, integral with the wheel 13 a. makes a complete revolution, it drives in the known manner the following drum (s) 3 via the transport gears 14. At the same time as the numberer?, 3 is driven forward, a spiral spring contained in the barrel 15 is armed by means of the pinions and toothed wheels 16, 17, 18 and: 19.
The differential 11 comprises a satellite 20 whose axis is integral with the axis 21, itself integral with the wheel 10, a first planetary wheel 22 which, through the toothed cylinder 23 is integral with the wheel 1? and therefore connected to the first numberer \ ?, 3, and a second planet wheel 24 so lidaire of the. wheel 25 and, by pinion 26, axis 27 and wheels 28, 29, in conjunction with totalizer 4. A spool wheel 30.
constantly engaged with the toothed cylinder 23, is fixed on an axis 31 terminated at one end by a thread 32 screwed into a tapped hole 33 of a fixed part forming part of the frame of the entire mechanism and of which only a portion 34 is shown.
During the rotation of the wheel 30, the axis 31 therefore moves longitudinally, bringing with it the wheel 30, the two extreme positions of which are shown in the drawing: in solid lines the position corresponding to the zero of the numberer \ ?, 3 and in line interrupted, or 30a., la. position which it occupies, after several complete turns on itself. when the dialer 2, 3 is on the. point to reach the maximum capacity for which it is planned between 999 and 1000 units in the present example, or any other value not to be exceeded and fixed in advance. 17n lever 35, integral with the axis 36 and subjected to the action of the tension spring 37 is on the.
trajectory of a pin 38 fixed on the left side of the wheel 311, and is lifted by the pin 38 in the position of the wheel 30 shown in solid lines in the drawing, that is to say when the numberer?, 3 is zero.
After a complete revolution of the wheel 30 in the direction indicated by the arrow, the axis 31 will have moved from left to right by the value (the linear pitch of the thread 32, that is to say by a quantity sufficient for due the pin 3'8 is entirely released from the lever 35 and the wheel 30 can continue its rotation without being hampered by the lever 35.
On the other hand, when, the rotation of the wheel continues. this reaches the position 30a defined above, a second pin 39, fixed on the right flats of 1 <a wheel 311 comes to lift the release lever 4 (l, integral with the axis 41 and biased downwards by res @ orl 42. The respective functions of the levers 35 el: 10 will be described later.
On the axis 27 and integral with the pinion 6 is fixed a wheel; the ratchet. 43. in which it seeks to engage two pawls 44 and 4: ï, pivoting about the axes 46 and 47. and urged by the tension springs 48 and 49.
While the pawl 44 is normally engaged in the ratchet wheel 43 and keeps it im movable, the pawl 45 is normally released from said wheel by means of the pin 50 attached to the rod. reset 51 which is biased downwards by the tension spring 5 ?. Yes. On the other hand. the rod 51 is = raised, by a means described later, the eliqïiet 45 can engage in the wheel 43.
and the cli <luet 44, raised by the pin 53. Is released in its subdivision, at the same time its finger. "i4 is hooked under the pawl .55 integral with the axis 36 el: lever 35. which no longer rests on pin 38.
A reset lever 56 integral with the axis 5 7 and said lever 58 is held in the rest position shown in the drawing by the return spring 59. On the folded end of the lever 58 rests the lower end of a vertical rod 60 pushed down by the compression spring 61. By its upper end, the rod 60 acts on the lever 62 fixed to the axis 41 and integral with the control lever. trigger 40. On the end of the lever 62 is supported. eclipse piece 63 carried by the reset rod 51 to which it is articulated at 64.
By pressing on the lever 56, the rod 60 is raised, which, by pushing back the lever 62 @ under the part 63, lifts the rod 51. After a certain angle of rotation of the lever 62, the eclipse part 63 escapes. lever 62 and the rod 51 is returned to its initial position by the pulling of the spring 52. When the lever 56 is released, the lever 62 can nevertheless return to the position shown in the drawing, thanks to the articulation of the part to . eclipse 63 which allows it to retract to let the lever 62 pass.
This back and forth movement of the rod 51 is necessary as it results from the description given below with regard to the operation of the mechanism.
Between the main axis 1 and the second numberer 6, 7 is interposed, as already mentioned, a variable speed drive or tariff changer device 5 intended to allow the unit price of the liter of liquid to be adjusted due to fluctuations in prices. in force. This device comprises a cone-shaped assembly. Of a suitable number of toothed wheels of different diameters 65 fixed on a common axle 66 and integral with the wheel 67 driven by the wheel 68 fixed on the axle 1.
A wheel 69 mounted on a support 70 movable along the rod 71 can be engaged at will with any one of the stepped wheels 65; the rod 71 is oblique with respect to the axis 66 and inclined thereon by an angle equal to half the angle at the apex of the cone formed by the assembly of the wheels 65; on the other hand, the wheel 69 is in permanent contact with the toothed cylinder 72 whose axis is parallel to the rod 71. A second wheel 73 mounted on the support 74 can also be engaged with any one of the wheels 65.
The toothed cylinder 75, with which the wheel 73 engages, is secured by its axis 76 to the axis of the satellite 77 of the differential 78. The latter comprises a first planetary wheel 79, secured to the angle wheel 80 in engagement with the angle pinion 81 carried by cylinder 72, and a second planetary wheel 82, integral with pin gnon 83 which drives wheel 84 and thereby second numberer 6, 7.
Between the toothed wheel 84 and the second numberer 6, 7, on the one hand, and the totalizer 8, on the other hand, there are elements identical to those described above on the occasion of the first numberer 2, 3 ( differential, balladeuse wheel, barrel, ratchet wheel) and similar levers and pawls acting on these various elements, so that a complete description of this part of the mechanism is superfluous.
The operation of the whole mechanism is. the following: The two numberers \ ?, 3 and 6, 7 before been brought back to zero, the various parts occupy the positions shown in the drawing, that is to say: balladeuse wheel 30 at the end of travel to the left and pin 38 lifting the lever 35, lever 55 raised and leaving free the finger 54 of the pawl 44 which, under the effect of the spring 48, is engaged in the ratchet wheel 43 and immobilizes it, rod 51 lowered to the rest position and pawl 45 released from wheel 43.
Now suppose we come to. deliver liquid. The counter starts rotating, driving the shaft 1 in the direction of the arrow; this communicates its movement by the wheels 9 and 68 simultaneously to the two numberers 2, 3 and 6, 7. Examining first of all the functioning of the upper part of the mechanism, we see that the wheel 10 turns in the direction of the arrow, driving the axis 21 and the axis of the satel lite 20 of the differential 11.
Due to the fact that the ratchet wheel 43 is retained by the cliqaet 44, the movement of the satellite 20 cannot be communicated to the planetary wheel 2'4, but only to the planetary wheel 22 and thereby, on the one hand, to the wheel 13, to the numberer 2, 3 which advances and to the barrel 1 5 whose spring is armed and, on the other hand, to the balladeuse wheel 30 which turns in the direction of the arrow and moves from left to. right.
The pin 38, driven by the wheel 3C1 begins with ash, letting down the lever 35, biased by the spring 37 and the pawl 55 which comes to rest on the finger 54 of the pawl 14.
At the same time, the wheel 68 fixed on the main axis 1 drives the wheel 6 7 and the conical assembly of the wheels 65. Through the int #, i-- medial of the return wheels 69 and 73, adjusted to a suitable position according to the current price per liter of discharged liquid. the movement of the wheels 65 is communicated to the toothed cylinders 72 and 75, the rotary movements of which are added by the intermediary of the differential 78,
the resulting movement being transmitted by the planetary 8? to the pinion 83 and to the wheel 8.1, and to the; in the second numberer 6, 7, in a manner analogous to that which has been described for the first numberer?, 3.
If we admit that the wheels 69 and 73 are identical, as are the toothed cylinders 7? and 7.5 and that the number of teeth of the angle wheels 81 and 80 are in the ratio of 1 to. 5, we see that a movement of the wheel 73 is communicated to the angle pinion 83 with a multiplication of two, while a key movement of the wheel 69 is transmitted to the pinion 83 with a reduction of one fifth. Equal angular displacements of the wheels 69 and 73 in the direction of arrows therefore determine on the pinion 83 movements in the same direction and which are between them in the ratio of one to dis.
If we further assume that the toothed wheels 65 are ten in number, have diameters, scale born in the ratios of 10 to 9, 8 .... 3,?. 1 and are cut to the same module, it is easy to establish that the transmission ratio between the wheel 67 and the wheel 84 can be varied according to the position of the return wheels 69 and 73 in the key proportion 1 to 11 (_), from unit to unit. The position of the idler wheel 69 determines the. value of the units and that of the wheel 73, the value of the tens of the number which represents this ratio.
In an extreme position of the supports 7 0 and 7 4, the corresponding return wheel may moreover not be engaged with any of the wheels 65 and on the other hand be blocked, so that the number of tens, or that of the units of said ratio evening equal to. zero: one will thus be able to obtain au.si well the numbers included between 1 and 10, that the numbers represented by 10. 20, 30, summer. , up to 100.
By a judicious choice of the number of teeth of the various wheels included between the main axis 1 and the first numberer?, 3 on the one hand, between the same axis 1 and the second numberer 6. 7 on the other hand. we can get that the drums 3 represent the number:
of liters before passed by the meter ei- the drum 2 the number of deci liters. while the drums 7 indicate the number (k francs and the drum 6 the number of tens of centimes representing the price of the quantity of liquid which is simultaneously indicated to the first numberer in liters and cleciliters. We can.
in addition, determine the various cogs (the tariff changer device 5, so that the ratio between the key movement of the wheel 68 and that of the wheel 84 precisely represents the price per liter of liquid charged. in cents. This price . in the example considered, can be varied from centime to centime, from the value 1 centime up to 110 cenlimes, that is to say, 1 franc 1. T1 is quite obvious that one could.
take any other measures deemed appropriate. without departing from the scope of the present invention, the figures indicated above being merely given by way of example to facilitate understanding of this description.
To simultaneously bring back to. zero both dialers ?. 3 and 6. 7, after payment by the buyer of the price of the quantity of liquid which has been sold to him, for example. a simple push to the limit on the lever 5 (l is sufficient. In doing so, the rod 60 is raised as already explained above, which raises the lever 62 and the reset lever 51 itself. which falls immediately.
As such, the rod 51 allows the pawls 45 and 45 'to engage in the ratchet wheels 43 and 43', while it raises the pawls 44 and 44 ', releasing them from said rocking wheels, and forces the fingers 54 and 54 'to engage under the pawls 55 and 55'. On falling, the rod 51 again lowers the pawls 45 and 45 ', completely freeing the ratchet wheels 43 and 43'.
Under the effect of the springs contained in the barrels 15 and 15 'which relax, the ratchet wheels 43 and 43' immediately begin to rotate in the direction indicated by the arrows and drive the drums of the totalizers 4 and 8 forward. The bars 15 and 15 'then turn in the opposite direction to that indicated by their respective arrows and cause all the cogs placed under their control to turn in directions which are each time the opposite of those shown by arrows, while that the wheels 10 and 84 remain stationary, the main axis being retained by the meter, stationary because it is not traversed by any flow.
The numberers 2, 3 and 6, 7 then turn backwards and the spinning wheels 30 and 30 'return from right to left. At the instant when the first number turns from position 001 to position 000, pin 38 lifts lever 35, pawl 55 rises at the same time releasing finger 54 from pawl 44, which rocks under the effect of spring 48 and engages again in the first tooth hollow of the ratchet wheel 43 which presents itself, immobilizing this wheel and stopping the numberer 2, 3 in position 000.
During the return-to-zero movement of said numberer 2, 3 in the direction of decreasing numbers, the drums of the totalizer 4 have turned in the direction marked by the arrow, that is to say in the direction of increasing numbers, of a quantity which is equal or proportional to that of which the drums 2, 3: have turned back. The number marked by the totalizer 4 has therefore increased by an amount equal to or proportional to the number first indicated on the number 2, 3 before its return to zero.
The same operations are carried out simultaneously on the lower part of the mechanism, the upright. in francs and centimes indicated on their number A, 7 being transported in addition to the totalizer 8 in a completely similar manner.
It should be noted, however, that from the moment when the rod 51 falls back into the rest position, the two parts of the mechanism return to zero independently of one another, each of the barrels 15 and 15 ', wheels 30 and 30', levers, pawls and ratchet wheels working on their own account. Except in the case where the price of the liter is equal to one franc, to use the numerical example already mentioned, the numbers indicated on the two numberers will be different and the times for the return to zero of these two numberers will also be different.
After returning to zero of the two numberers 2, 3 and 6, 7, all the members of the mechanism are found in the position shown in the drawing, that is to say in the position defined at the start of the explanation of the operation of the mechanism. The latter is then ready to indicate a new quantity of liquid to be delivered by the dispensing apparatus, and the price of this flow, and so on.
If, for any reason whatsoever, it happens that the first dialer 2, 3 reaches the maximum capacity that it is likely to indicate, or in this case 999, without having been brought back to zero by hand by pressing against the lever 56, it is necessary, in order to avoid jamming of the cylinder 1.5, that the spring cannot continue to tighten further, and for this the numberer is automatically reset to zero.
The wheel 30, after several complete revolutions, then arrives at the position 30a shown in dotted lines and the pin 39 comes into contact with the lever 40 ,. If the main axis then continues to rotate in the direction of the arrow, the pin 39 raises the lever 40 and the lever 62 which is integral with it rises,. Lifting -O, in turn the reset rod 51 exactly as would have -provoked manual pressure on the lever 56. The rod 51 immediately falls and the return to zero of the numbers 2, 3 and 6, 7 is carried out as already described.
We could. also adjust the position of the lever 40 and that of the pin 39 so that the automatic return to zero is triggered not when the numberer 2, 3 reaches the. maximum capacity 999. but when it reaches. any other value, fixed in advance, and compatible with the characteristics of the spring of the barrel there.
Although only one automatic release lever 40 is shown in the drawing, one could also well provide a second depending on the second numberer 6, 7, and. put into action by a pin fixed on the right side of the. wheel 30 '. It would also be possible to provide only a single automatic release lever depending solely on the number 6, 7. The choice between these various solutions would obviously be dictated by the values of the minimum price and the maximum price to be considered practically per liter. of liquid delivered by the dispensing device.
