Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen quaternären lmmoniumsalzes. Vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines neuen quaternären Ammoniumsalzes, welches auch ein Monosubstitutionsprodukt des Harnstof fes ist und für Tegtilbehandlungszwecke ge eignet ist.
Gemäss dem Verfahren nach vorliegender Erfindung erhält man das neue quaternäre Ammoniumsalz, indem ss - Dimethylamino- äthylharnstoff und Methylchlorid zusammen erhitzt werden.
Der ss-Dimethylaminoäthylharnstoff und das Methylchlorid können allein oder, wenn erwünscht, in einem passenden Lösungs- oder Verdünnungsmittel, z. B. einem Alkohol wie Äthanol erhitzt werden.
Beispiel: 10 Teile ss-Dimethylaminoäthylharnstoff und 5 Teile Methylchlorid werden in 80 Tei len Äthanol aufgelöst. Das Gemisch wird in einem verschlossenen Behälter, welcher dem entstehenden Druck gewachsen ist, bei einer Temperatur von 100 während 15 Stunden erhitzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird gekühlt, aus dem Behälter herausgenommen und das Äthanol abdestilliert. Der so erhaltene kri stalline Körper wird aus wasserfreiem Ätha- nol rekristallisiert.
Das so erhaltene neue quaternäre Ammo- niumsalz, Trimethyl-ss-Harnstoffäthylammo- niumchlorid, ist ein weisser, kristalliner Kör per mit einem Schmelzpunkt bei 184' C. Das Salz äst leicht löslich in Wasser und in Äthanol.

According to the process according to the present invention, the new quaternary ammonium salt is obtained by heating ß-dimethylamino-ethylurea and methyl chloride together.
The ss-dimethylaminoethylurea and the methyl chloride can be used alone or, if desired, in a suitable solvent or diluent, e.g. B. an alcohol such as ethanol.
Example: 10 parts of ss-dimethylaminoethylurea and 5 parts of methyl chloride are dissolved in 80 parts of ethanol. The mixture is heated in a closed container, which can withstand the pressure created, at a temperature of 100 for 15 hours. The reaction mixture is cooled, removed from the container and the ethanol is distilled off. The crystalline body thus obtained is recrystallized from anhydrous ethanol.
The new quaternary ammonium salt thus obtained, trimethyl-ss-ureaethylammonium chloride, is a white, crystalline body with a melting point of 184 ° C. The salt is easily soluble in water and in ethanol.
