Heating installation. The present invention relates to a heating installation with a combustion hearth with a chimney for the evacuation of the fumes and gases originating from the combustion, in which at least an upper part of the duct of the chimney has its walls exposed to the air and has its end open to the atmosphere.
This installation is characterized in that this chimney comprises, towards this upper end, a shutter capable of completely obstructing it and conditioned so that it is in the opening or closing position depending on whether the ascending gas flow in the chimney prevails or not on a downward wind acting on the upper end of the chimney and, lower than this shutter, on said part exposed to the air, side openings ensuring the outlet of the gases when the shutter is closed by the effect of a descending wind.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of examples, two partial embodiments of the installation forming the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a partial view in vertical section of the first embodiment in an operating position; Fig. 2 is a partial view, in vertical section, of the second embodiment in another operating position; Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on a larger scale, along III-III of FIG. 1, the valve being supposed to be lowered; Fig. 4 is a schematic view showing the bottom of the fireplace shown in FIG. 2.
The heating installation shown in fig. 1 and 3 comprises a fireplace (not shown) and a fireplace for the evacuation of gases and fumes from combustion in this fireplace. The upper part of the duct of this chimney has its walls exposed to the air and its end open to the atmosphere. This part includes three superposed sections 1, 2 and 3 assumed here - to be cement and sealed to each other. The intermediate section 2 is perforated, having openings 22 separated by inclined pallets 10.
The section 3 has, near its base, an interior bearing surface provided with a gasket 4 for the support of a valve 5 articulated about a horizontal axis 6 running along one of the edges of this valve. The latter is provided with a counterweight 7 carried by an arm 9 which passes through a slot 8 in the wall of section 3.
The operation of this form of execution is as follows: The counterweight 7 is, for example, adjusted so that it only partially balances the valve 5 and that the latter tends to remain folded horizontally as shown in the embodiment of fi * 2. If the atmospheric conditions are normal and if the combustion speed is high, the gases and fumes arriving at the top of the chimney exert a thrust under the valve and keep it raised as in fig. '_ #. They therefore escape through the end of section 3, and also, in part, through the openings 22.
If, under the same atmospheric conditions, the volume of the gases and their temperature decrease as a result of a slow combustion regime imposed on the installation, the gases may no longer have the strength to lift the valve 5; they then escape freely through the openings 22.
But the installation is more specifically intended to overcome the drawbacks and dangers of atmospheric conditions unfavorable to draft, such as those of a strong depression with downward direction winds (foehii, etc.), or such as those resulting from a strong the upper part of the fireplace is heated by the sun.
In the first case, a downward wind will be prevented from driving back the gases and fumes into the inhabited premises by the fact that its first effect will be to apply the valve 5 on its seat 4. As a downward wind however generally has an obliquity , it creates at the same time a depression on the side opposite to that by which it meets the chimney, so that the gases are sucked by the or vertures 22.
In the second case, the formation of a hot air plug "can be avoided by the fact that the air circulating freely through the section 2, prevents the latter from heating up excessively; in addition, cry case of slow combustion, the valve is closed and prevents the sun's rays from entering this section 2 from which the gases can escape. The valve can, moreover, have a concave shape, its concavity being turned. towards the top of the chimney when it is in the closed position.
The valve may be of a heat-insulating material such as a sneeze.
The embodiment of fi * 2 and 4 differs from the first in that it is completed by a mercury contact tube 1.1 fixed to the valve 5. A sheath 12, fixed along and outside the chimney, contains conductors 13, 14 which are flexible in the vicinity of the valve to allow its movements and which form part of the circuit of a motor connected to a current source 15. This motor operates a fan 17 mounted on a frame 19 of which a face 20 closes one or opening 21 of the chimney made at any height of the latter inside the building.
This fan delivers outside air to the top of the chimney through a duct 18 which passes through the plate 20. It could also be mounted in the chimney itself or in a by-pass thereof and only increase the temperature. upward gas velocity.
The contactor is arranged so that the circuit is closed when the valve 5 closes. The installation described above could also have a device making it possible to close the valve by hand, from the boiler room for example. This device could comprise a chain or a cable fixed by its upper end at a point of the valve and having a handle at its lower end; this device would be arranged in such a way that the weight of the chain or of the cable could not interfere with the operation of the valve under the action of the downward winds or the upward gas current.
