Process for the production of an etchable, substantive azo dye. It has been found that etchable, substantive azo dyes are obtained if any diazo compounds are coupled with a 2- (aminoaroylamino) -ä-naphthol-7.sulfonic acid, further diazotized and finally combined with an o-ogybenzoic acid. The dyes obtainable in this way are distinguished by a remarkable lightfastness and above all by an excellent neutral and alkaline etchability.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of an etchable, substantive azo dye. The process is characterized in that diazotized m-aminoformanilide is coupled with 2- (4'-aminobenzoylamino) -5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid, further diazotized and finally combined with ogresotinic acid and in the resulting dye Formic acid residue is split off.
The dye directly stains a yellow flock, pure scarlet fever through diazotization and development with p-naphthol and brown with p-nitraniline, which are neutral and alkali-like.
Example: 13.6 parts by weight of m - aminoformanilide are diazotized with nitrite and hydrochloric acid in the usual way and with a soda-alkaline solution of 36.5 parts by weight of 2- (4 'aminobenzoylamino ) -5-naphthol-7-sulfonic acid coupled.
The resulting dye is filtered off with suction and, after pasting, further diazotized by stirring for several hours with nitrite and hydrochloric acid. This diazotization mixture runs into a concentrated, aqueous solution of 15.5 parts by weight of o-cresotinic acid to which 20 parts by weight of sodium hydroxide solution are added. After isolation, the dye is slurried in a 5% sulfuric acid and heated to boiling temperature for about 1/4 hour.
The dye obtained in this way can be diazotized on the fiber. and develop, also in a known manner with diazotized p-nitroaniline. In the latter case, a brown that is neutral and alkaline is also easily etched.
