Les dessins annexés représentent, à titre d'exemples, deux formes d'exécution de l'ap- pareil suivant l'invention. La fig. 1 est une vue -de la première forme d'exécution, du côté de la poignée, avec la plaque de la carcasse partiellement arrachée; La fig. 2 est une vue latérale, partielle ment en coupe; Les fig. 3, 4 et 5 montrent., à une plus grande échelle, le détail des disques tran chants et des dents de protection et de gui dage, en coupe verticale, respectivement en vue de face et en plan;
Mechanical device for removing the skin of slaughtered animals. The present invention relates to a mechanical apparatus for removing the skin from slaughtered animals, comprising a carcass comprising a box and a circular plate arranged edge to edge on top of one another and connected by a central bolt.
The apparatus according to the invention is charac terized in that it comprises a rotating disc disposed between the box and the plate of the carcass and having, in its peripheral region, a series of cutting discs which are fixed by means of washers and screws, in niches made in the rotating disc, the latter being made integral with a toothed wheel rotating freely around the central bolt and driven from a flexible shaft, the box of the carcass being further provided means to allow the hand to grip and direct it conveniently while the sharp discs adorn the flesh of the skin.
The appended drawings show, by way of examples, two embodiments of the apparatus according to the invention. Fig. 1 is a view of the first embodiment, from the side of the handle, with the plate of the carcass partially broken away; Fig. 2 is a side view, partially in section; Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show, on a larger scale, the detail of the cutting discs and the protective and guiding teeth, in vertical section, in front view and in plan respectively;
Fig. 6 is a side view of the second embodiment of the apparatus, partially in section; Fig. 7 is a plan view of FIG. 6; Fig. 8 shows a detail of the apparatus according to fig. 6 and 7.
The casing of the device, shown in fig. 1 to 5, normally metallic, has two elements, namely: a circular plate 1 and an equally circular box 2, both of which are provided with a flange 3, respectively 4, and the two flanges. perposing exactly, with a tongue-and-groove recess 5 (fig. 3); the two parts are made integral with each other by a special bolt 6, the head 7 of which and the nut 8 are of convex shape.
The box 2 is capable of an ear 9 tangential to the box in a plane normal to the axis of the latter (fig. 1 and 2). In the ear 9, having suitable dimensions on the surface and in thickness, a window 10 is pierced, the edges of which are protected by a covering 11 and the size and shape of which allow the thumb to be easily inserted therein,
while extending the other four fingers along the peripheral wall of the box to grip and guide the device.
The cutting member comprises a rotating disc 12 integral with a helical gear 13, rotating freely on the shank of bolt 6. The gear 13 meshes with a worm 14 integral with a shaft 15 which rotates between supports 16 and 17 forming a single piece with the box 2 of the carcass; the shaft 15 is controlled by a flexible transmission 18.
In the thickness of the rotating disc are provided peripheral niches, almost tangential to each other, each measuring approximately g (4 of a circle and open (according to their minimum dimension) on the edge of the disc; in these niches are just housed cutting discs 19 provided with a continuous peripheral cutting edge.
Each cutting disc constitutes a blade which is retained in its respective niche by a screw 20 with a flat head embedded in a ron delle 21 which entered all, just into the niche whose shape it follows, so as to be flush with the internal face. .of the rotating disc, as clearly shown in fig-. <B> 3. </B> Therefore, all the blades protrude on the periphery of the rotating disc and on the washer 21,
the projection or projecting part being the same for all the blades and such as the blades. on the inside are flush with the edges 3 and 4 of the carcass which face each other (fig. 3 and 2). The cutting function of the blades 19 is achieved by a series of teeth 22 (equal to each other and equally spaced) provided on the two edges 3 and 4 of the casing on the side opposite the handle, over an arc of about 150, so as to leave uncovered all the free part of the blades, as shown in fig. 4 and 5.
Said toothing is intended to guide the blades between the flesh and the. skin of the animal, protecting the blades and preventing them from damaging the flesh or skin. The aforesaid blades offer the obvious advantage that they can be turned several times, thus using their cutting edge, over the entire periphery of the blades before taking them apart to sharpen them.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, the handle 9 is omitted and, in its place, the box 2, eccentric with respect to the rotating disc, has a duly knurled spur 23 and comprising on the left an appendage 24 on the back of which an imprint is formed to rest your thumb on it when grasping the device.
In addition, in the front profile of the box are formed indentations in which the other fingers are introduced to grip the box. These devices. allow a firm grip on the device and make it easy to operate.
The rotating disc 12 has niches 26 serving as a seat for the blades constituted by cutting discs 19 '. These edges 26 are also open in their rear part, at the place where a projection 27 is fixed. The blades 19 'have two notches 28 and 29 at two diametrically opposed points, these notches being such that they can perfectly match the curve of the projections 27.
The notches 28 and 29 form two pairs of cutting teeth, one pair serving to cut and the other engaging the projection 27 and serving to secure in place the blade which was then fixed with a washer 21 ' , the latter being fixed to the rotating disc by a screw 20. In the washer 21 'is also made a notch 30 intended to engage the same projection 27, which also fulfills the function of preventing the rotation of the washer.
We thus obtain sharp tips of great efficiency and a great speed of assembly of the blades. The circular plate 1 has holes 31, by means of which said plate is screwed onto the box 2 of the apparatus with screws.
The connection between a flexible transmission 18 and the axis 6 of the rotating disc is made using two toothed gears 32 and 33, one on the axis 15 of the flexible transmission and the other on the axis. 6 of the rotating disc. The axis 6 is provided with ball bearings; thereby, the purpose of increasing the speed of rotation of the rotating disc is achieved, at the same time reducing its frictional resistance.
The edge 3 of the box 2, instead of being serrated, as in the first embodiment, is smooth, as shown in fig. 6 and 7. This edge is then set back relative to the teeth. -du: disc 1, so as to leave the cutting tips of the blades uncovered.
