Reinigungs-, Emulgierungs- und Dispergie- rungsmittel darstellt. Den Ausgangsstoff, Stearyl - ss - Methylaminoäthylphenyläther, kann man durch Umsetzung von Stearinsäure oder Stearinsäurechlorid mit ss-Methylamino- äthylphenyläther erhalten.
<I>Beispiel:</I> 15,1 Teile ss - Methylaminoäthylphenyl- äther, den man durch Umsetzung von ss-Phen- ogyäthylchlorid (tour. Amr. Chem. Soc., 1926, 48, 2745) mit Methylamin als farbloses Cl vom S. P. 120 bis 12.2 C (15 mm) er hält, werden mit 2,8,4 Teilen Stearinsäure auf 180 bis 190 C erhitzt bis die Entwick lung von Wasser aufgehört hat.
Unveränder ter Aminoäther und/oder Fettsäure wird bei 250' C und (5 mm Druck abdestilliert. Stearylmethylaminoäthylphenyläther bleibt zurück, der beim Erkalten einen wachsarti gen. Festkörper von Schmp. 20 bis 25 C bildet. 20 Teile dieses Produktes werden bei 20 bis 25 C in 30 Teile Schwefelsäuremono- hydrat eingerührt. Wenn eine Probe mit Wasser eine klare, schäumende Lösung gibt, giesst man das Sulfonierungsgemiseh in so viel Natronlauge, dass man ein neutrales Ge misch erhält.
Die erhaltene Creme oder Paste ist gebrauchsfertig zur Verwendung als Reinigungs- oder Dispergierungsmittel. Sie kann indessen durch Trocknen in einen körnigen Festkörper umgewandelt werden, der sich leicht zu einem feinen, weissen Pul- ver zerreiben lässt. Wässerige Lösungen des Produktes sind in. Gegenwart von Chlorkal zium oder heissen Mineralsäuren beständig. Sie sind ganz besonders brauchbar zum Rei nigen von Rohwolle oder zum Dispergieren von Kalkseifen bei dieser und andern Wasch und Reinigungsoperationen.
