Description

Additional patent to the main patent no. 167803. for the production of an azo dye containing Ehrom. It has been found that a chromium-containing azo dye can be produced if the azo dye is prepared from nitrated 1-diazo-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid and 1-oxynaphthalene with a chromium-releasing agent in such amounts

that the chromable group of the dye molecule corresponds to less than 1 atom of chromium, as well as being treated in the presence of soluble salts of organic acids.

The chromium-containing azo dye obtained is a black powder which dissolves in water with violet-black, in 10% sodium hydroxide solution and in 10% sodium hydroxide solution with a brown-violet-black color. The dye is soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid with a greenish-black color. It dyes wool and silk from organic acid-sulfuric acid bath in black shades with good fastness properties.

Example: 46.1 parts of the azo dye from nitrated 1-diazo-2-oxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acid and 1-oxynaphthalene are dissolved in 1000 parts of water with the addition of 5 parts by volume of 30% sodium hydroxide solution. a solution of chromium formate containing 5.3 parts of Cr 2 O 3 and 20 parts of sodium formate is then added and the mixture is refluxed for 6-8 hours.

The resulting violet-black solution of the resulting chromium compound is evaporated to dryness in vacuo, if necessary after filtering off small amounts of impurities.

The same dyes are obtained if, instead of chromium formate, other chromabending agents such. B. Cbromfluorid, chromium acetate, benzenesulfonic acid chromium or Ge mixtures of such chromating agents are used.

Likewise, the same dye is obtained if the sodium formate used in the example is replaced by other soluble salts of organic acids, such as. B. is replaced by sodium acetate or by sodium oxalate.
