Lorsque. dans chacune clés machines dé crites ci-dessus. la forme qui doit être pro duite est. celle d'un filet clé vis (fig. la), le rapport des mouvements d'avancement et de va-et-vient de la bliss;

Process for giving a naked body a shape determined by action on it of a second body, one (the these two .. body being a grinding wheel, and machine for the implementation of this The present invention comprises a process for giving a body a determined shape by action on it of a second body, one of these bodies being a grinding wheel, and a machine for the implementation of this. process.
The method according to the invention is charac terized in that one causes a relative displacement between these two bodies when they are in contact with each other and the grinding wheel rotates, so as to create the shape - desired on the body to be worked, by the result of two coordinated displacements which take place simultaneously in two directions forming an angle between them.
The machine for implementing this method is characterized in that it comprises bearings in which the grinding wheel @: st intended to be mounted so as to be able to turn, a slideway to receive the other body, and means to move this slide with respect to the grinding wheel simultaneously in two directions forming an angle between them.
The method can be employed for IL, shape grinding, comprising forming the active surface of a grinding wheel itself. as well as for the formation and wise finishing of a working body, using a grinding wheel.
According to the present invention, the shape which it is desired to give to the blackbird or the other body being. in each case, the resultal- (the two movements (take place simultaneously in (two (directions forming an angle between them, we can (read that this form is a created form, as opposed to the form resulting from the use of a pattern or (iii mold.

The lon, -itudinal or forward movement of the slide d, that is to say in the perpendicular direction to the plane of rotation of the grinding wheel. small be produced. either by means of a relative movement between a conductive screw and a nut, or. by means of a cam.
For this purpose, the slide d is mounted, C on a second slide e, removed to be able to come and go along the bench f of the machine. in a direction parallel to. the axis of the nlc-ule. When a conductive screw is used, it is mounted so that it can be rotated at one end in a bearing supported by the machine bed and is intended to be able to be rotated by hand or mechanically. 1;
threaded end of the guide screw, works in a bossa-e i tapped from the. slide e, the return movement of which can be obtained by reversing the direction of rotation of the driving screw, preferably at a higher speed than for the forward movement. When a cam is used to effect the slide forward motion d. the slide e can. be kept in constant contact with the. cam by means of a weight or a spring, the cam itself being mounted in bearings carried by the bed f of the machine.
- Movement. simultaneous reciprocation of the slide d in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel. is (the preference obtained by means of a cam k whose. axis I is mounted so as to be able to turn in a console m. carried by the -lissière e. The shape and speed of rotation of this chine will be determined by the ia- ture of the form (it must be ground. This quail p:
'ut be driven by a reduction gear ii apl) ropriate, which can be varied at vololitt @, à. start (the axis (the con (luctricé or cam which gives the Illout had advancement to the glls # lère. For this purpose, the axis l. of the.
cam k, which produces the reciprocating motion of slide d,. can carry a helical wheel o meshing with a worm p, which is suitably mounted on a tongue of a shaft d, which is driven by the reduction gear mentioned above.
rue modified execution form of ma chine. comprising the same principles as that described above, but of a more compact and simpler construction, is shown in fig. ?.
In this case, as can be seen, the conductive speed g and the cam k which control the two simultaneous movements born of the. slide d, are carried by the same shaft h. This tree. which is intended to be rotated by hand. is mounted in a bearing 1a1 carried by the slide e, and is positioned in such a way that by unscrewing the nuts r, a-1, a--, it can be easily removed and replaced with another shaft carrying a lead screw of different pitch. The cam can also be changed. if desired.
The slide d carrying the part cutting the grinding wheel or the workpiece. as the case may be, key is mounted so as to slide freely in a mount d1 fixed to the. slide e and is normally held by having the style s in constant contact with the cam le by means of a spring t. As before, the cam moves the slide d in and out in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the grinding wheel a, while the feed slide e moves the slide d simultaneously in a direction perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the grinding wheel. .
The conductive screw works in a threaded sleeve i.1 which is removably mounted in a frame ii, fixed to the carriage support z and carries the relative movement advancement slide.
When. in each machine key described above. the form that is to be produced is. that of a key screw thread (fig. la), the ratio of the forward and backward movements of the bliss;
era d wearing the. part cutting the grinding wheel or the workpiece. will be such (read while 1-a. feed slider moves a distance equal to the pitch of the screw thread, cam k, which moves slider d back and forth, performs a complete rotation.
A machine according to the present invention, for grinding the shape of the gear teeth, is shown in FIG. 3. In this case, the part cutting the. grinding wheel or workpiece. work c is mounted on an axis c1 journalled in the slide d, so as to be able to rotate in a plane forming an angle with respect to the plane of rotation of the grinding wheel a. The slide d < / I> itself. Is intended to come and go on the bench f of the machine towards the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel, by means of a cam k.
This cam -est mounted so as to be able to rotate in the slide sière d and rests against a style s fixed to said bench or to another fixed part of the grinding machine. In this case, the entire actuating mechanism is carried by the slide and moves with this slide and is preferably operated by hand. The cam k and the axis c1 carrying the cutting piece or to be worked, are rotated at the desired relative speed by means of a shaft ze journalled in the slide.
This shaft is -disposed to be rotated -by hand and carries a worm w1 engre nant with a helical wheel iv 'of said axis. The cam drive is produced. by a shaft w using a gear n. Appropriate reduction gear mounted on the slide. The relative movements of the cam and the cutting part or the workpiece, are such that the cam performs one complete rotation during the time that the workpiece or the cutting part is rotating. value of a tooth.
As already specified, the invention is generally applicable to eyelash grinding and is not limited to: in its application, @ to the formation (the surfaces of uniform shape, such as key threads and teeth of graining.
By using cams of the appropriate shape and at the appropriate rotational speeds, the key movement of the cutting piece, or the workpiece, relative to the grinding wheel. or vice versa, may be required to piocleate shapes of any irregular shape desired.
