Mobile backrest for bedridden people. The present invention relates to a mobile file for bedridden persons. This backrest is characterized by two parallel rigid supports each made of a main bar placed near the edges of the ma telas and joined to each other by rigid transverse bars, supports on each of which is articulated the lower end. of one of the lateral uprights of a backrest, the positions of which depend on those of two assemblies each comprising at least one lever and a connecting rod bearing symmetrically on said supports and connected to at least one control member by a control mechanism transmission with motion reduction ratio, this control member being located within easy reach of the bedridden person.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, six embodiments of the object of the invention, shown respectively by fi ,,,. 1 to 6 in elevation; Shapes 1 to 3 differ in the means for controlling the sets of connecting rods and the lifes, and shapes 4 to 6 differ in the arrangement of these sets.
In fig. 1, 1 designates a longitudinal lon support. Intended to be placed on the edge of a bed at the same time that a symmetrical part is placed on the other edge which is connected to it by rigid bars. 2 is one of the symmetrical uprights of the actual backrest which pivots around a fixed axis 3, when the lever 4 articulated at 5 with a connecting rod 10, at 7 with a connecting rod 6, is pushed by its articulation 5 of so that this articulation slides in the groove 18. When the backrest rises, the end 16 of the lever 4 slides relative to the backrest 2, sliding in a groove 17.
When the backrest occupies its least inclined position, it rests on a stud 9 which prevents it from being placed in a position for which a force acting in the plane of the groove 18 would have a zero lever arm with respect to the 'joint 7.
In fig. 1 to 3, it is a connecting rod 10 which communicates this force to the joint 5. In FIG. 1, it is articulated by its end 12 on a sliding nut of a fixed journal screw integral with a bevel pinion 13 engaged with a toothing 14 of a handwheel 15, these various parts being mounted on the extensions the. ' support 1.
The dimensions of the apparatus are such that a patient whose back is placed against the backrest has, within reach of his hand, a control wheel such as 15 on the right and on the left. He can then, by acting on the periphery of the steering wheel 15, rotate the pin 13 integral with the screw 11, which causes the translation of the nut in the smooth neck 19 and has the effect of raising the backrest. The movement is not reversible, thanks to the fact that the angle of inclination of the net is less than the angle of friction, that is to say that the weight of the person leaning against the backrest cannot turn the wheel 15 backwards. This weight, however, facilitates the return of the backrest to the horizontal position when the patient operates the wheel in the opposite direction.
In fig. 2, the connecting rod 10 is directly controlled by a lever 25 with a handle pivoted at 34 and to which it is articulated at 33. In order for the backrest to remain in a determined position, a bar 20 slides against the support 1 and is provided with 'a den ture 20' between the teeth of which is engaged a pin 21 of the support 1 when the bar 20, movable around the axis 3, can obey the action of gravity, its center of gravity being at left of axis 3 thanks to a 20 "counterweight.
A handle 26 slides against the lever 25 thanks to the grooves 28 guided by the pins 27 and 34; an action can thereby be exerted on the bar 20. so as to slide its groove 30 on a stud 29, which produces its rotation around the axis 3 and releases the teeth of the mesh of the stud 21, this when the position of the .folder. needs to be changed.
The function of the rack is to hold the mechanism in a fixed position, even when a weight acts on the backrest.
In fig. 3, the connecting rod 10 is articulated at 35 on a lever 36 having an operating handle 39. This lever carries a pawl 38 acting on a fixed wheel having the same axis as the lever 36; this pawl itself carries an operating arm juxtaposed to the handle 39 and is subjected to the action of a return spring 40. The fixed wheel 37 may be smooth as in FIG. 3, in which case the pawl is an overhanging or wedging pawl. It could also have a ratchet toothing and the pawl have its pivot axis approximately on the tangent driven by its point of action on the toothing.
In fig. 4, the connecting rod 6 of the, fi-. 1 is replaced by a lever 45 taking as a fulcrum a fixed axis 47 and whose end 48 is guided by a groove 49. This lever has a ramp 46 which cooperates with a sliding bar 51 which has grooves 18 and 54 and an axle roller 53. This bar is articulated at 3 with the connecting rod 50 which can be moved by one or the other of the devices of FIGS. 1 to 3. A groove 45 'of the lever 45 allows slight longitudinal displacements. This position allows that the force exerted by the maneuver can overcome the great forces of the application of a weight on the backrest when it is in the positions close to the horizontal.
For this purpose, the part 51 returns against the ramp 46 as soon as the backrest starts from its least inclined position and does not yet touch the pivot 5 of the part 4 thanks to the groove 18. When the bottom of this groove touches the pivot 5, there may be simultaneous driving by the two places over a certain distance and then abandonment of the ramp 46 rising more rapidly from a certain position relative to the advancement of the part 51.
Fig. 5 shows a variant of this construction in which the bearing axis 57 of a lever 55 is to the left of the ramp 56, whereas the axis 47 was to the right of the ramp 46. The ramp 56 can be conformed to the pull so as to rise backwards to increase the multiplication of movement.
The sixth form is also intended to give a greater reduction in movement when the backrest is lying than when it is reclined. For this, the connecting rod 41 acts via the articulation 43 on an angled lever 42, the end of which carries a roller which rolls against the backrest 2.
