Method and device for impregnating fibrous materials with emulsion for the purpose of manufacturing building boards. The invention relates to the manufacture of building boards made of hardened and cemented fibrous materials, for example building boards made of wood wool hardened and cemented by Sorel cement or other binders. In order to produce such construction panels, wood wool is impregnated with an emulsion containing the binding agent and then brought into shapes where the binding is going on.
In order to make the production economical, the form is carried out by machine in such a way that 'the pulp is brought into the shape of a strand by conveyor belts, passed through a binding chamber and then divided into plates. In this way, manual labor is only partially unnecessary, because the fiber is soaked through. with the emulsion containing the binder and the introduction into the molds must continue to be done largely by hand. This process takes place in such a way that the fiber is dipped in an emulsion of the binder and the excess is allowed to drain off.
The dripping can be accelerated by exposing the impregnated fiber between perforated metal sheets to a corresponding pressure. The mass is then put into the mold by hand.
The present invention has the object of performing the mixing of pulp and emulsion by machine in continuous operations. In the context of the invention, this is achieved because the fiber material is loosely pressed. Strand is formed, which is passed through an emulsion bath and squeezed out on exit from the bath in order to remove the excess emulsion.
The strand is expediently guided through the bath at the bottom of the trough containing the emulsion and warped during the passage through the trough. The strand freed from excess emulsion can be subjected to processing before it is introduced into the molds or the molding machine, the purpose of which is to loosen the material and feed it evenly to the molds or to the transport organ at the entrance to the molding machine .
This processing consists, for example, in the fact that the strand freed from the excess emulsion is divided into portions before it is introduced into the molds or the molding machine, which are thrown onto an evenly moving transport path. Since the throwing distance differs depending on the mass of the torn off portions, this processing, which can also be carried out repeatedly, brings about a homogenization of the strand.
The device for carrying out the method consists best of a trough containing the emulsion, which is continuously charged with emulsion, a pair of rollers at one end of the trough which introduce the fiber strand, and a pair of nip rollers at the other end of the trough which lift the fiber strand out and so on. are arranged so that the excess emulsion flows back into the trough ..
In the drawing, an execution example of the device according to the invention is shown. FIG. 1 shows a vertical section, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the drive for the rollers and FIG. 3 shows a section along the line III-III of FIG.
The wood wool is filled into a straight shaft 1, the bottom of which is formed by the catch parts of the rollers 2 and 3. The roller 2 is fixed and it keeps its drive from the motor under the mediation of a worm gear. The offset from the roller 2 arranged roller 3 is movably mounted on an arm 4 and is driven by a splined on the shaft of the roller 2 gear 5 is which meshes with the gear 6. The purpose of the movable arrangement of the top roller is to keep the pressure of the strand constant.
A trough 7 adjoins the pair of rollers 2, 3, to which the emulsion constantly flows from a container 8, optionally equipped with a controllable outflow opening. The leading edge of the trough lies on the lower roller of the squeezing roller pair 9 and 10, which is driven by a chain drive 11 from the roller 2 on. The upper roller 10 is mounted in the knee of an angle lever 12 on which a weighted lever 13 engages. By adjusting the loading weight, the pressure under which the squeezing out of the excess emulsion takes place can be regulated.
The coordination of the compression with the density of the emulsion used makes it possible to apply the required amount of emulsion to the fibers. 14 is a longitudinally arcuate web which adjoins the nip rolls and is made by. Throwing forks 15 is coated. The throwing fork arms are attached to the pin 16 ver. Arranged cranks 17 aasgelenken and at the ends with links. 18 connected. This drive gives the forks a circular movement in an approximately elliptical path.
Through the walls of the shaft 1, the wood wool filled in is shaped into a loose strand. The pair of rollers 2, 3 convey the strand out of the shaft and press it together at the same time. Another task of these pairs of rollers is to push the strand along the bottom of the trough 7, which is partially filled with emulsion ge. The pair of rollers 9, 10 pulls the strand out of the trough, specifically at a speed that is greater than the feed speed of the pair of rollers 2, 3.
In this way, the strand is a little ver drawn and loosened as it passes through the trough, which ensures that the fibers are fully saturated. The excess emulsion is squeezed out when the strand emerges from the trough and flows back into the trough. Tests have shown that even squeezing is only possible if at least one of the rollers 9, 10 is thinner on average than at the ends. The strand freed from the excess emulsion does not have the same cross-section and must therefore be made even before it is brought into the molding machine.
This task is performed by the throwing forks 15, which loosen the strand and throw it in portions onto the transport member of the molding machine, for example a conveyor belt, which is arranged at the entrance of the molding machine. The portions separated by the forks are approximately the same size, but the effect of the air resistance when throwing is different depending on the mass of the portions, which means that the material deposited on the conveyor belt has greater uniformity. If necessary, the processing of the strand by the throwing forks can be carried out repeatedly.
An essential advantage of the device according to the invention is that neither detached fibers nor hardened emulsion can settle on the bottom of the trough, which is coated by the strand.
