Device for treating textile fibers and fabrics such as linen with ozone. The application of ozone for bleaching textile fibers and fabrics has already been proposed and tried several times. However, none of the ozonization processes known to date has found constant and extensive expansion in the bleaching plant.
The invention relates to a new device for the treatment of textile fibers and fabrics, such as linen with ozone, which differs from the known devices of this type in several ways both in terms of the purpose to be achieved and in terms of technical training in principle different.
The new facility is not intended to enable the complete bleaching of textile fibers and fabrics such as linen exclusively with ozone, but its use forms only part of the total bleaching, which is made up of various operations. So far, so-called lawn bleaching has been used to prepare and open the linen for subsequent treatment with chemicals, for example with chlorine. The bleaching of the lawn is, however, very strongly affected by the weather. such as solar radiation, etc.,
dependent and also requires a very considerable amount of time. The bleaching of the lawn is now to be replaced by the use of the new facility, which allows the green bleaching time to be considerably shortened and is completely independent of the weather.
A device for treating textile fibers and fabrics such as linen with ozone has, according to the invention, a closed space in which the uniformly moistened material to be treated is to be constantly moved in a manner known per se and which is connected to an ozone apparatus, which is used to ozonize the air up to a content of no more than 2 grams of ozone per cubic meter of air; In addition, means are provided in order to maintain the most uniform possible moisture state of the items to be treated during the duration of the ozone supply to the treatment room.
In the experiments on which the invention is based, very good results have already been achieved with significantly lower ozone concentrations, for example 0.2 to 0.4 gr per cbm of air. The specified ozone concentration, which is considerably lower than the relevant information in the literature, has an effect that is initially barely visible to the eye. Due to the preparation and disintegration caused by the ozone, the success is only noticeable during the subsequent usual treatment of the linen with chemicals, so that when the new device is used, a surprisingly good and even bleaching of the linen is achieved.
The already mentioned constant movement of the line during the ozone treatment in connection with an appropriate movement of the ozone air flow ensures that the effect of the ozone on the line is completely uniform.
In the drawing, an embodiment is illustrated for a device designed according to the invention. Fig. 1 shows a; View of the room in which the linen is ozonated, from above, Fig. 2 a section along line A-B of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a front view with a schematic representation of the entire system.
The ozone generated in an ozone apparatus a in a known manner from air with the help of silent electrical discharges is sucked off through a pipe b by means of a blower c and introduced through a line d into a container e in which the ozonated air is humidified. The purpose of this moistening is to keep the moisture content of the linen uniform during the entire treatment period. The ozonated air passes from the container e via a pipe system f into the treatment room g, in which it acts on the material to be treated.
A pipe system h ,, which can be similar to f, then leads the air back out of the treatment room g into an air dryer i, from where the air is then in turn fed through a line 1e to the ozone apparatus a. The arrangement shown provides for the ozonization process to be carried out in a closed cycle. But it is also possible to let the air that has passed through the treatment room g escape and to continuously supply new air to the ozone apparatus a.
In the treatment room g, rollers 1 are arranged above and rollers 2 below, which serve to keep the material to be treated in constant motion during the duration of the action of the ozone. At the Stel len where the bleached material enters the treatment room and exits it again, Masserole closures 3 and 3 'with squeezing devices 4 and 4' are arranged. Outside the box there is a deposit box 5 and 5 'on the entry and exit side.
The ozone is in a concentration below \? gr per cubic meter of air, after the tests it is advisable to only introduce 0.2 to 0.4 gram into the treatment room by means of the tube system f. The exit takes place on the opposite side in turn at several points through the tube system h-. The entry occurs on one side and the exit on the other side creates treatment room g
an uninterrupted movement of air. The linen to be treated is guided according to Fig. 2 from the deposit box 5 via guide rollers 6 in a manner not shown in the water-filled container 3, which also serves as a water seal for the treatment room g. From the water seal 3, the linen that has become very wet during the passage passes through the Abquetsclivorrichtung 4, which is located within the treatment room g det.
The squeezing device is set in such a way that the wet linen is squeezed through it to the most suitable degree of moisture, which can be determined once and for all through a trial trial for each type of fabric. From the squeezing device 4, the linen then passes alternately over upper rollers 1 and lower rollers 2, the number and spacing of which depends on the time during which the bleach is to be exposed to the ozone effect in the closed treatment room g. The majority of the rollers are best mounted freely rotatable.
In order to achieve an even movement of the linen in the treatment room g and to prevent stretching, a certain number of the rollers are connected to one and the same drive device in a manner not shown in detail. For example, the first roller, the fourth roller, the seventh roller and the tenth roller of the upper row of rollers can be coupled to the drive device. After passing the last roller in the top row, the line passes through the water seal 3 'and the squeezing device 4' via the guide rollers 6 'to the deposit box 5'.
The uniform action of the ozone-air mixture of the specified ozone concentration on the bleached material, which should ideally be maintained evenly during the entire treatment period, is achieved on the one hand by the uniform movement of the lines in the treatment room g, and on the other hand by the supply and discharge of the shown Ozone air mixture in several places and in such a way that it passes through the treatment room g at right angles to the direction of movement of the line.
The inlet openings and outlet openings of the tube systems f and b are distributed as evenly as possible over the entire front and rear walls of the treatment room g. The ozone air stream is, as provided, suitably moistened before entering the treatment room g and can be dried and returned to the ozone apparatus after it exits, so that it is then circulated by a single fan.
To shorten the treatment time, in addition to ozonization and at the same time as this, the bleaching material can be irradiated with light that is as rich as possible in the rays of sunlight exerting a bleaching effect. This light, which can be generated, for example, by means of the known ultraviolet lamps, is also best introduced as evenly as possible into the treatment room, for example through a window (not shown) made of a material that is not shown on the upper side of the treatment room g The rays in question are well permeable, for example quartz.
