Gear switch. The object of the present invention is a gear change comprising a drive shaft on which are mounted at least two toothed wheels of different diameter, at least one of which can rotate freely on this shaft, but can be engaged by means of a clutch, these toothed wheels meshing with other toothed wheels mounted on a traction shaft can by the latter be driven in one direction only by means of a roller box fixed to each wheel.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic plan view; Fig. 2 is a partial view of a toothed wheel showing the distribution of the gaets in their housings.
The present embodiment shows a gear change at three different speeds and a reverse gear. Gear 1-4 is low speed, 2-5 medium speed and 3-6 high speed. The gear system 7-8-9 corresponds to the reverse gear, the toothed wheel 8 carried by an additional shaft 10 and the wheel 9 both being fixed on their respective shaft.
The toothed wheels 1, 2, 3 and 7, retained laterally by rings 11, can rotate freely on the motor shaft 12. These toothed wheels 1, 2, 3 and 7 engage respectively by means of suitable clutches such as friction clutches 13, 14, 15 and 16 controlled by a system of hand or pedal levers, not shown in the drawing.
To each toothed wheel 4, 5 and 6 is fixed a roller box, respectively 17, 18 and 19, allowing the shaft 20 to be driven in one direction only by the toothed wheels 4, 5 or 6. It As a result, it is possible, for example, to switch from low speed 1-4 to a higher speed 2--5 without having to disengage the toothed wheel 1 corresponding to this low speed. The motor shaft 12 may have two distinct parts 21 and 22. On one of them, 21 for example, is fixed a counter-cone 23 allowing the shaft 21 to be driven by the air shaft 22. by means of a clutch 24, also controlled by a hand lever or a pedal, the entire system thus being able to be rapidly disengaged. 26 is a part fixed to the shaft 20 on which the rollers 25 rest.
Without departing from the scope of the invention, the clutch 13 can be omitted and the toothed wheel 1 can be fixed directly on the shaft 21 so that to engage or disengage low speed 1-4, it will be necessary to operate the gear. 'clutch 24.
The gear system 7, 8, 9 could for example be placed so as to be driven directly by the shaft 22. The release 24, in this case, would have yet another clutch cone opposite to that indicated. in fig. 1. This additional cone would then serve to engage the toothed wheel 7. In this way, if the clutch 24 is pushed to the side of the counter-cone 23, the gear system intended for forward travel can operate; if the clutch 24 is pushed to the side of the wheel 7, the gear system for reverse gear can operate. The result is that one can switch from forward to reverse without having to disengage any one of the toothed wheels 1, 2 or 3 by means of the corresponding clutches 13, 14 or 15.
