Jumping dial indicator mechanism. Any measuring device generally comprises a graduated dial and an indicating hand, or more of these elements.
Another means of indication consists of superimposing two dials, one of which bears the numbers or graduation and the other of which is provided with an appropriately shaped display window, revealing a number or a portion of the indicator dial. . The dial bearing the numbers or the graduation is generally mobile and may present a continuous movement or even move by sudden jumps.
The mechanism, which is the subject of the present invention, is of the type with a movable indicator dial and an exhibition window and comprises special means for communicating sudden jumps to the indicator dial at determined intervals. It applies particularly well, for example, to devices for measuring time, such as watches, clocks, recorders, etc. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, in perspective an embodiment of the mechanism which is the subject of the present invention.
The mechanism shown comprises a dial 1 provided with a window 2. Behind this dial 1 is placed the indicator dial 3, pivoting around the axis 4 and bearing the numbers from 1 to 12, or 1 to 24, if applicable. 'acts of devices to measure time, or from 1 to 10 for counters of all kinds.
Along the geometric axis 5, parallel to the axis 4 are placed two shafts 6 and 7 independent of each other, although coaxial. The shaft 6 carries on the one hand a toothed pinion 3a meshing with a circular toothing of the dial 3, and on the other hand a plate 8 com carrying a stop nose 9.
The shaft 7 in turn carries a plate 10 provided with a lateral pin 11.
The two plates 8 and 10 are elastically connected to each other by the intermediary of a coil spring 12. Around the axes 13-13 and 14-14 pivot the two sets of levers 15 , 16 and 17, 18 made integral two by two by shafts 19 and 20 respectively.
Two springs 21 and 22 keep the levers 15 and 17 constantly pressed against the perimeter of the plate 8.
The operation of the mechanism described is as follows: The shaft 7 receives its rotational movement by the measuring device, a movement which must be transmitted to the dial 3 by sudden jumps. .
At a given instant, the stopper nose 9 is pressed against the lever 15, a position allowing the n ° 4 to appear in the aperture 2 of dial 1, while the pin 11 is for example at A . As the plate 10 continues to rotate, pin 11 will arrive at position 8 where it contacts the bevelled end of lever 16. Continuation of movement will now cause progressive lifting of lever 16 and, as a result of connection 19, lever 15.
Once in position C, the pin 11 will have released the lever 15 from the stopper 9, suddenly freeing the plate 8. Under the impulse of the spring 12, armed by the rotation of the plate 10, the plate 8 will make a half. -turn and the stop nose will come to an abrupt stop in 9 'against the lever 17. This sudden half-turn of the plate will also have turned the pinion 3a and the dial 3, so as to reveal the following figure , or number 5, in aperture 2 of the dial.
When, in its continuous stroke, the pin 11 has reached the bevelled beak of the lever 18, it will push it back in turn, thus disengaging the lever 17 from the stop nose 9, located at 9 ', thus freeing the plate 8 again. The spring 12, re-energized by the rotation of the plate 10, will print a second half-turn on the plate 8, bringing the stop nose 9 to its original position, where it rests against the lever. 15. This second trigger will have made the number n 6 appear in window 2 of dial 1. Thus each half-turn of shaft 7 will cause the next number of dial 3 to advance by a sudden jump.
To obtain more than two jumps per revolution of the shaft 7, it suffices to increase the number of stopper noses 9 and pins 11, or even the number of sets of levers.
