Advanced heater. The object of the present invention is an improved heating apparatus using coal as fuel, comprising a flared lower pot surrounding a frustoconical grid and above an upper pot of smaller diameter surmounted by a funnel which directs the latter into it. fuel coming from a tank, the arrangement being such that the mass of the fuel of the hearth is distributed in a peripheral zone and a central zone concentric with the first which each have their air inlet and their gas outlet distinct.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an overall view of the improved heating apparatus in vertical section; Fig. 2 is a side view of the notched gable cham; Fig. 3 is a side view - of the lower pot; Fig. 4 is a plan view of the cross groove supporting the grid; Fig. 5 is a side view of the seat supporting the spider and the lower pot.
The hearth is constructed in such a way that the peripheral zone formed by a thin ring of fuel burns constantly, while the central zone, comprising the main mass of the fuel, only burns if air is admitted to the central part of the fireplace and stops burning if the air intake is closed by means of a shutter.
The fuel loaded in the tank 1 at the top of the stove, descends as needed in the lower part where the fireplace is located. It is directed by the funnel 2 in the upper cylindrical pot 3 and spreads out below it on the frustoconical grid surrounded by the lower flared pot 4 and formed by two concentric grids 5 and 6. These rest on a spider 7, the central tubular part 8 of which constitutes an air passage opening out under the central grid 5 and is provided with a shutter 9.
The flared pot 4 has a larger diameter than the cylindrical pot 3, so that the coal forms between them, on the outer grid 6, a ring 10 of small thickness that the air can pass through freely. When the stove is idling, with the shutter 9 closed, the crown of coal 10 is alone in combustion, and the mass of fuel 11 which is contained in the pot 3 and rests on the central grate 5 inside this crown 10, is airless and does not burn.
If the shutter 9 is opened, the air admitted through the passage 8 under the central grid 5 rises in the mass of fuel 11 through this grid and along notches 12 made in a mushroom 13 (fig. 1 and 2) which is planted in the middle of the latter and occupies the center of the mass 11. From the crown 10, the combustion then propagates to the parts of the mass 11 adjacent to the grid 5 and then gains all the fuel contained in pot 3, the gases and flames produced escaping through the space 14 between this pot and the funnel 2. The mass of fuel 15 contained in this funnel 2 is not subjected to draft, so that it forms a plug and prevents the fire from spreading to the charcoal in tank 1.
The tank 1 is surrounded by a casing 16 in which the outside air supplied by a duct 17 is heated before leaving through openings 18 to mix with the gases from the hearth and complete the combustion.
The heating apparatus in which the fireplace is mounted, according to the accompanying drawing, comprises a base 19 surmounted by a cylindrical column 20 in which are suspended, as shown in FIG. 1, the tank 1, the funnel 2 and the pot 3 which is lined with refractory material. The lower pot 4 rests on an annular seat 21 in the base 19 and this seat 21 is provided with lugs 22 (FIG. 5) supporting the spider 7. The central part 8 thereof serves as a pivot for the grids 5 and 6 which the pan can be turned to de-ash the pan, by using a pull tab 23 on a pin 24 of the outer grid 6 in which the central grid 5 is fitted.
The inner pot 4 can also rotate under the action of a pull tab 25 which is guided in a hook 26 of the seat 21 and engages a tenon 27 of this pot 4. Rn rotating, this pot is raised to allow emptying. the home; for this purpose it comprises three ramps 28 (FIG. 3) which, by mounting on the legs 22 of the seat 21, cause this lifting. The drawbars 23 and 25 protrude outside the stove, as does the shutter control rod 9, so that the gold) can easily operate them.
It goes without saying that, without departing from the scope of the present invention, it can be applied to kitchen stoves, and to central heating boilers, for example, according to a suitable construction.
