La fig. I en est une coupe transversale;
la fig. 2 est une coupe partielle selon I-I de la fig. 1;
la fig. 3 est une coupe d'un détail agrandi;
The present invention relates to waste incineration furnaces.
These types of furnaces are called upon to burn a wide variety of materials and it is important that these materials burn completely and that the gases and particles in suspension resulting from the combustion are also burned. Depending on the amount of gases evolved and the humidity of the materials to be burned, the oxidizing air which is normally supplied to the combustion chamber proves to be insufficient and the ignition and combustion of the gases become difficult.
however, a large quantity of gas escapes without having been burned.
Attempts have been made to extend the residence time of the gases in the combustion chamber by increasing the dimensions of the latter, but if this measure allows slow and relatively complete combustion, especially in the case of materials that burn poorly, it also causes heat losses which do not facilitate the combustion of gases and particles in suspension.
It has also been sought to introduce secondary air into the combustion chamber intended to facilitate the combustion of the gases and particles in suspension. This measure, however, did not give the expected results because it activated the evacuation of gases and suspended particles which escaped before they could mix with the air to burn properly.
With the aim of remedying these drawbacks, the present invention relates to a waste incineration furnace having a combustion chamber in one of the walls of which is arranged an outlet opening for the gases and particles in suspension resulting from the combustion. garbage. characterized in that it comprises preheated pressurized secondary combustion air inlets arranged around the exhaust opening of the gases and particles in suspension, and directing this preheated pressurized secondary combustion air in the combustion chamber in the direction opposite of that of the escape of gases and suspended particles.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. I is a cross section;
fig. 2 is a partial section on I-I of FIG. 1;
fig. 3 is a section of an enlarged detail;
fig. 4 is a section of another enlarged detail.
The oven shown comprises a combustion chamber 1 comprising a vault 2 of generally circular shape contiguous to a set of side walls 3 in which are arranged, in known manner, a sliding loading door 4 closing off the orifice 5 for the arrival of waste. , inspection valves 6, a burner 7 supplied with fuel from a tank not shown. a blower 8 for supplying primary combustion air disposed in the lower part of the combustion chamber, and an ashtray door 9 intended to provide passage to a bucket 10 for receiving the ash.
Following the opening 5 for loading waste, is installed an inclined predrying hearth 1 1 followed by a mixing grid 12 and a secondary grid 13, these two grids being arranged above the bucket of reception-of ashes 10. These structures are known and will not be described in more detail because they do not form part of the invention.
One of the side walls 3 of the chamber 1 is provided, at its upper part, with an opening 14 for exhausting gases and fumes, this opening being closed by a ceramic grid 15 acting as a filter. The opening 14 is connected by a channel 16 (fig. 2) to an exhaust chimney 17.
Around the opening 14, at the edge of the grid 15, the wall of the chamber 1 has a row of orifices 18 in each of which is housed a nozzle or tube 19 for supplying secondary combustion air, preferably made of steel. stainless. Each of the tubes 19 passes through the walls surrounding the channel 16 and is thus flooded. As shown in fig. 2, the tubes 19 are partially embedded and pass in part into the channel 16. This is not, however, limiting and the tubes 19 can be arranged so as to be completely embedded in the walls surrounding the channel 16.
The walls in which the tubes 19 pass completely or partially will preferably be formed (FIG. 3) by a first layer 20 of a refractory material which is a good conductor of heat, this first layer itself being covered on the outside with a second layer 21 d. an insulating refractory material. So. the heat existing in channel 16 due to the passage of gases and fumes resulting from the combustion will be transmitted to the tubes 19.
Each tube 19 presents. near its end giving in the combustion chamber 1. a transverse internal groove or groove 22 intended for the formation of an ultrasonic flow. In addition. at least one of the tubes 19 carries, near its end giving into the combustion chamber 1.
a temperature probe 23. Preferably. at least two temperature probes will be used. respectively arranged in one of the tubes located on either side of the gas and smoke exhaust opening 14.
The other end of each of the tubes 19 opens to the outside of the oven and is closed off by a removable plug 24 allowing access to the inside of the tubes, for example for cleaning them. Always outside the oven. the tubes 19 are interconnected by pipes 25 connected to a blower 26 for supplying secondary combustion air with variable flow rate. Preferably, use will be made of at least two variable-flow blowers each supplying separately a group of tubes 19 arranged respectively on either side of the median plane of the exhaust opening 14, which will make it possible to have a higher air flow on one side of the opening 14 than on the other. The flow rate of the blower (s) 26 can be controlled manually. However.
it will be preferable to control it by means of the temperature probe (s) 23, this control being carried out using a known circuit which will not be described in detail since it does not form part of the invention.
Thus, the tubes 19 will provide a supply of pressurized combustion air around the gas and smoke exhaust port and in the opposite direction to this exhaust. The tubes 19 being strongly heated due to the high temperatures existing in the channel 16, the air expelled into said tubes by the blower or blowers 26 will be preheated before entering the furnace. The temperature of the air leaving the tubes 19 being a function of its flow rate, the action on the blower or blowers 26 will make it possible to modify this temperature at will. By controlling the flow rate of the blower (s) 26 by means of the temperature probe (s) 23, a servo-adjustment will be obtained which will make it possible to maintain a selected temperature at the outlet of the tubes.
In the event that several blowers will be used, it will be possible to have a higher air flow in certain places and, consequently. a differentiated air temperature, this being servo-regulated if the blower flow rate is adjusted automatically via the temperature probes.
The supply of preheated pressurized secondary combustion air being made around the gas and smoke exhaust port, the evacuation of the gases and particles in suspension is delayed. which correspondingly prolongs their residence time in the furnace, however, this causes their intimate mixing with the secondary combustion air and the operation takes place without heat loss due to the preheating of the secondary air. It is thus possible to obtain a slow and complete combustion of the gases and particles in suspension, and this without it being necessary to increase the dimensions of the combustion chamber.
In the case of ovens in which, as in the example shown, the inlet for waste is located near the outlet for gases and fumes, the supply of secondary air under pressure around exhaust port and counterflow prevents debris from passing through the exhaust port without being burned.
Finally. because of the presence. at the end of the tubes 19. grooves forming an ultra-sonic flow. The secondary combustion air leaving the tubes 19 produces a field of high frequency vibratory energy which considerably facilitates the mixing of the gases and particles in suspension with the secondary combustion air. which greatly improves the conditions for ignition and combustion of gases and particles in suspension.
As previously indicated. the vault 2 of the combustion chamber I is generally circular in shape. This arrangement allows good distribution of the secondary combustion air under pressure in the combustion chamber. which promotes its intimate mixture with the gases and particles in suspension and consequently the ignition and combustion of these.
Although preferred. however, this structure is not limiting and the vault of the combustion chamber may be of another shape.
