Box with lid for electrical cables. In the previously known sockets for electrical lines, special connecting pieces are required on the socket for cable entry, which in the case of watertight sockets must be provided with a relatively expensive stuffing cap seal. Such boxes are designed from the outset for the introduction of a certain number of lines, so that in general a socket intended for three lines, for example, cannot be used for two lines and vice versa.
The invention consists in that the supply lines are introduced between the can edge and the associated lid and are sealed here by a flexible intermediate layer which is pressed through the lid over the lines that are inserted.
The drawing shows as Ausführungsbei game a device for transferring uninsulated overhead lines to insulated Lei lines for damp rooms. The invention is particularly well suited for such devices. In the figures, a is the insulating box and b is the lid of the device. The box a is provided at its lower end with an extension c, which can be used as a clamping surface for a wall clamp according to FIG. 3 or for fastening on a roof stand tube according to FIG. The box a has a central bore d which ends in the approach c in a stuffing box seal e.
In the upper part of the box, the bore d is widened to form a sector-shaped cavity f, which serves to accommodate the ends of the insulated line introduced from below.
The box a carries a plurality of connection terminals g on its upper face, each of which is directed for the connection of two lines and is separated from the other terminals by an insulating projection h. The projections h prevent accidental connection of two terminals by an installation tool. They also increase the creepage distances of any insulation currents and thereby improve the insulation between the individual terminals.
The can a has on its upper end face an edge gradation on which a flat rubber ring i is placed. A second edged rubber ring k is inserted into a circumferential groove of the cover b.
The uninsulated overhead lines are introduced over the flat ring i through notches 7n of the socket edge n and connected to the terminals g. Instead of the notches m, the can edge n created by the gradation of the edge can also be provided with thin spots that can be broken off as required. If the lines are connected, the cover b is put on and screwed to the box with the screws o. The edgewise ring k is pressed firmly over the inserted overhead lines so that it hugs the circumference of the lines.
In this way, it is possible to insert and seal any number of free lines at any point in the box.
To the introduction respectively. To protect sealing points from the direct influence of rainwater, the lid b is provided with a drip rim p which extends over the can opening towards the bottom.
In addition, the fastening screws arranged in approaches g of the can a are screwed into blind holes in the lid from below, in contrast to the previous designs. This avoids bores that penetrate the surface of the cover and allow water to penetrate up to the sealing point and at the same time protect the screws themselves from rainwater. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the insertion point on the bottom of the can is also protected from dripping water by an overlapping edge r of the can a.
If the box and cover are made of insulating material, there is the advantage that special connection sockets are saved and the lines can be placed directly on the connection body. If inan it is not necessary to be able to introduce any number of lines at any point in the can, it is also possible to use only one convenient sealing ring on the lid. In this case, the socket edge expediently has a notch for each line to be inserted, which closely surrounds the inserted line to a part of its circumference.
The seal is then achieved in part by the connector body itself and in part by the rubber ring that is pressed on.
Instead of rubber, any other plastic material can be used for sealing. Since the facilities in general remain untouched for a relatively long time after their installation, a hardening material can also be used for sealing, which can be easily replaced with each new installation.
