Process for the preparation of a nonohalogenaphthostyril derivative. It has been found that the naphthostyriles described in Swiss Patent No. 132028, monohalogenated in the core, can advantageously be obtained in one operation if naphthostyril and its derivatives are mixed with halogen or halogen from donating funds treated.
The main condition for success is that the amount of halogenating agent used does not significantly exceed the amount calculated for the formation of a mono-halogenation product.
The present patent now relates to a process for the preparation of monochloronaphthostyril, characterized in that naphthostyril is treated with a chlorinating agent in an amount sufficient to form a monochloro derivative but not significantly in excess of the amount calculated for the formation of the monochlorine product.
The monochloronaphthostyril obtained in this way is identical to the product obtained according to the Swiss Patent No. 182028.
<I> Example 1: </I> 169 parts of naphthosotyril are dissolved in 2200 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid, 3 parts of iodine are added and chlorine is now slowly introduced at 15 to 20 until a weight increase corresponding to the uptake of 1 atom of chlorine and up to Sample after recrystallization shows a melting point of 266. The mass is then poured onto ice; the precipitated chloronaphthostyril is filtered off and, if necessary, recrystallized from glacial acetic acid.
<I> Example 2 </I> 169 parts of naphtostyril are dissolved in 7000 parts of crude hydrochloric acid while hot, then the solution is cooled, as a result of which the naphthostyril separates out as the hydrochloric acid salt. For this purpose, an aqueous solution of 40 parts of sodium chlorate is then run in within an hour while stirring, the temperature being suitably kept at 15 to 20. The mixture is stirred for some time, the precipitate is filtered off, washed out and dried. The chloronaphthostyril obtained in this way in almost theoretical yield is identical to the compound obtained according to Example 1.
<I> Example 3 </I> 15 parts of sulfuryl chloride are allowed to flow slowly into a solution of 17 parts of naphthostyril in 270 parts of tetrachloroethane at 50 to 60 '. When the temperature rises, the chloronaphthostyrene formed separates out in the form of yellow needles. It is kept at 50 to 60 for some time, and after cooling, the reaction product is filtered off and dried. A product is thus obtained which has a melting point without further purification. of 265 shows.
Instead of tetrachloroethane, other suitable solvents or suspending agents, such as, for example, glacial acetic acid, nitrobenzene, trichlorobenzene, can also be used.
