Automatic condensate drainer with float and aeration and deaeration valve. This invention relates to an automatic condensate water drain with a float and a ventilation and deaeration valve, in which the periodic discharge of the condensing water takes place after opening a tank. drain valve combined with a control piston.
According to the invention, the float acts on an auxiliary valve. needle arranged in a vertical tube which connects the interior of the pot -of the bleeder with da chamber arranged below the control piston of the drain valve, so that a level d predetermined water in the trap, the auxiliary valve is raised and establishes communication between the two aforementioned chambers.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, and in axial schematic cross sections, several embodiments of the trap, constructed according to the principle of the invention. According to fi-. 1, the pot 1 collecting the condensation water comprises on one side a pipe 2 for the connection of the steam pipe and on the other side a pipe 3 for the connection of the evacuation pipe, the condensation water.
Inside the pot are arranged a baffle partition 4, pierced with openings 5 for the passage of steam, and a channel 6 for the evacuation of the condensation water, said channel ending through a horizontal mouth on the bottom of the pot. -On this horizontal mouth is placed, in the axis of the pot, a vertical screen 7 in the form of a drum, which at the same time serves as a guide for the hollow rod 8a of the drain valve 8, the seat of which is arranged inside the drum. At the lower end of the hollow rod is fixed a piston 10, guided in a bore 11 in the bottom of the pot.
On this rod also slides, in the axial direction, the float 12: This one has at the top a tubular extension 13 for actuating a needle valve 14, seated in the upper mouth of the rod 8a and acting as an auxiliary valve. Corresponding side openings 15, drilled in the tu bular extension of the float on the one hand, and in the hollow rod of the drain valve on the other hand, allow the entry of air into the rod, when the valve â needle 14 is raised.
The jar is closed at the top. by saw cover 16 comprising in. its axis an automatic ventilation and deaeration valve 17. A spring button 18, disposed above said valve valve also allows: manual operation thereof.
The operation of the air trap thus constituted is as follows: The steam enters through the 2 dan pipe, the pot 1, strikes against the baffle wall 4 and fills the upper part of the pot, while the condensed water deposited sée is collected in the bottom of the pot. As the water rises in the pot, the float 12 performs an upward movement, until its tubular extension 13 comes, under the influence of the vertical thrust force of the float, lift the valve 14 from its seat, thus allowing steam to pass from the steam chamber of pot 1 through openings 15 and rod 8a below, of piston 10.
This is then pushed upwards, which causes the opening of the drain valve 8 and all the water contained in the pot is expelled into the drain channel 6. Meanwhile, the ascending piston 10- has caused the immediate closing of the needle valve 14 and the admission of steam below the piston is thus cut off almost instantaneously. In this way, the consumption of steam for expelling water is reduced: to a minimum.
The closing movement of the drain valve can therefore be accelerated or slowed down at will; : for this purpose the channel 21 ', through which the steam which has penetrated below the piston 10 is discharged, has in its orifice an adjusting screw 21 and a check valve 21 "(fig. 5), and, depending on the position of the screw, this valve is returned more or less quickly to its seat.
The opening of the drain valve could moreover also be carried out by hand, using a screw 19 with flywheel 20, resting against the underside of the piston.
When it is put into operation, the condensation water trap is always filled with air.
This can escape through the ventilation valve housed in the cover 16, as the steam enters the pot. This valve consists essentially of a body 27 with a shutter needle sliding in a sleeve 28; a central hole is drilled in the body 27, from which the side channels start. At rest, the body is seated on an internal base of the socket, so that the orifice of its seat 1.7, made in the ceiling of the socket, is unmasked, and the air can freely enter the pot and the pipes connected to it.
This avoids the. formation, at rest, of a vacuum in the steam line and the re-extraction of already expelled condensate water.
When the trap is put into action, on the other hand, the air collected in: the pot and the pipes, is expelled by the. steam through the ventilation valve, which retains its open position, until the pressure of the steam, increasing, comes to close it and the. keep in this position for the duration of use. The pressure button 18 disposed above the valve body 27 then makes it possible to check the regularity of operation at will.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 2 differs from that described above by the fact that the tube for supplying the steam from the lifting of the piston and of the drain valve integral with it, instead of being merged into one piece with the rod valve, is placed laterally in the pot. In addition, the drain valve and its control piston are connected together by a rod, and the float is guided on a second rod independent of the first. The.
transmission of the movement of the float on the needle valve 1-1 housed in the tube takes place in this case by a foot resting freely on the guide rod of the float while engaging -partly in the central tube of the latter and by a counterweight lever 23 'articulated laterally in the pot. This arrangement makes it possible to easily adjust the moment of actuation of the trap by an appropriate displacement of the counterweight. The manual lifting of the piston takes place here using a lever 24 controlling a cam 25.
In the embodiments shown in fi-. 3 and 4, la. steam is replaced by water as the driving agent of the udder 10. For this purpose, the needle valve extends to the level of the drain valve 8, so that when it is opened, the condensed water and not the vapor rushes below the piston and causes it to rise. In this embodiment, the evacuation of the condensation water does not therefore enter any loss of vapor.
Fig. 3 shows an application of the specified principle in a water trap of the lyli shown in fig. 1 and the fi-. 4 in the water traps of the type shown in fig. 2.
As a peculiarity of the traps shown, it should also be mentioned that the disc 8, which acts as a drain valve, is of a smaller diameter than the actuating piston 10. A kind of differential piston is thus obtained. very advantageous if not necessary for the correct functioning of the device.
Finally, the evacuation pipe G com also carries a check valve 26 opposing the key returns of the evacuated water.
