Fig. 1 est une vue schématique de l'un des côtés de la machine; Fig. 2 est une vue schématique de l'au tre côté; Fig. 3 est, à plus grande échelle, une coupe suivantA -A de fig. 1 et 2, Fig. 4 est une coupe suivant B-B de fig. 3 ; Fig. 5 est une vue partielle semblable à la fig. 4, mais représentant la pince dans une autre position;
Device for smoothing and stretching a fabric and crushing its folds in a fabric folding machine. The object of the invention is a device for smoothing and stretching a fabric and crushing the folds thereof, in a fabric folding machine.
This device is applicable in particular to the inspection, folding and measuring machine for all types of fabrics described in patent 11 117758.
In machines of this kind, the fabric is brought onto a folding table, by an appropriate distributor member, and members or grippers are generally provided, intended to crush the folds as the folding takes place.
These binders are not entirely satisfactory in the case of stiff or irregular fabrics, and especially for high folding speeds: they in fact drive the air towards the center of the folded part and thus cause the formation of pockets, buckets and creases which are subsequently crushed by subsequent folds in the fabric. In addition, they do not stretch the fold, which crashes in a defective fashion as speed increases or when folding fabrics made with pulling or slack selvages.
The present invention, on the contrary, makes it possible to adopt high folding speeds, even with uneven fabrics, and consequently ensures a significant saving in time and manpower and perfect folding.
The device according to the invention is characterized by a clamp having means which press on the fabric while moving in the direction of its length, in the vicinity of the folds, and which rub the edges of the latter.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, where, to fix the ideas, it was assumed that one had to do with a machine of the kind described in the patent. above.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view of one of the sides of the machine; Fig. 2 is a schematic view of the other side; Fig. 3 is, on a larger scale, a section along A -A of FIG. 1 and 2, Fig. 4 is a section on B-B of FIG. 3; Fig. 5 is a partial view similar to FIG. 4, but showing the clamp in another position;
Fig. 6 is a large-scale sectional view on 0-C of FIG. 3, intended to show the drive freewheel of the device.
The machine shown comprises a take-up roller 1 driving the fabric, a distributor corridor 2 and a folding table 3 on both sides of which the fabric 4 is folded as clearly understood in FIG. 4. It further comprises a clamp which is formed of two pallets 5; each of these is carried by arms 6 (fig. 3) mounted idly on a rod 7. The rod 7 carries stop fingers 8 against which the pallet 5 is pushed by torsion springs 9 mounted on said rod 7.
Each rod 7 is carried, at its ends, by two arms 10 wedged at the ends of two shaft ends 11 and 12. The shaft ends 11 are supported by bearings 13 fixed on a transverse bar 14 which is itself fixed. to the leg 15 of the machine frame by a collar 16. The shaft ends 12 are also supported by bearings 17 fixed to a bar 18 clamped in (in a collar 19 integral with the leg 20 of the frame.
The shaft ends 11 and 12 of each pallet are a continuation of one another and arranged so that the extreme edge of the pallet is parallel to the folding table 3.
One of the shaft ends 12 is driven by a chain wheel 21 controlled by a chain 22 actuated by a pinion 23 wedged on the shaft 24 of the roller 1. The shaft 12 is connected to the wheel 21 by a device ratchet which will be described later. The pinions 21 and 23 are calculated in such a way that the wheel 21 makes a full revolution at each half-o-zoillation of the distributor corridor. 39 is a tensioner roller for the chain 22. The shaft 12 is provided with a gear 25 which drives a second gear 26 wedged on a shaft 27 supported by a bearing 28 fixed to the bar 18 like the bearings 17. This shaft 27 is provided with a chain wheel 29 which, by a chain 30, drives another chain wheel 31 wedged on the second shaft 12.
The chain wheels 29 and 31 on the one hand and the gears 25 and 26 on the other hand are equal. As a result, the two shafts 12 rotate at the same speed and in the opposite direction, as is clearly understood in FIG. 3.
As mentioned above, the chain wheel 21 is loose on the shaft 12 and is only connected to it by a ratchet device. This device (fig.6) is simply composed of a small ratchet wheel 32 with a single tooth, wedged on the shaft 12 and cooperating with a pawl 33 pivoted at 34 on the wheel 21 and returned by a spring 35. The .wheel 32 having only one tooth, the respective positions of arm 10 (fixed on shaft 12) and of the machine mechanism (to which wheel 21 is connected by chain 22) always remain the same during work, even if, for the reasons given below, it was necessary to rotate the arms 10 by hand during a stop of the machine.
The shaft 27 is provided with a handwheel 36, specifically intended to allow the gripper to act when the machine is stopped. Finally, each pallet is balanced by # of the counterweights 37 (fig. 3, 4 and 5) intended to prevent the arms 10 from being rotated by the weight of the pallet 5 and "of the rod 7.
The operation of the device is as follows: The arms 10 are driven by the chain 22 and rotate in a continuous movement like the take-up roller 1. The direction of rotation is indicated by the arrows: In this movement, the pallets 5 come to the contact of the folds of the fabric (fig. 3 and 4) which they stretch downwards, by turning around the rods 7 against the springs 9, as will be clearly understood by examining figs. 4 and 5 which represent the clamp respectively at the moment when the edges of the pallets 5 come into contact with the folded fabric and after a partial rotation from that moment.
The pallets 5 sliding on the fabric stretch the creases and expel the air downwards without leaving it the possibility of raising and inflating the upper part of the pleats.
The arms 10 making one turn at each half-oscillation of the folding corridor, it is possible to adjust the device so that the pallets do not interfere with the fold being formed. Fig.4 shows a satisfactory adjustment thus achieved.
When the folding is finished, we must raise the folding table 3, that is to say bring the two panels that compose it to be horizontal and in the extension of one another by rotation around a articulation axis 38. It may happen that the pallets 5 interfere with this movement. This is remedied by the operation of a handwheel 36 which allows the arms 10 to be turned by hand to bring them to a position such that they let the panels of the table 3 freely pass through. The free wheel 32-33 allows to carry out this maneuver without having to drive the whole machine at the same time, which would be too painful for the worker.
This device being with a single tooth, when the machine is started, the correct setting of the arms 10 is necessarily found with respect to the folding mechanism, as explained above.
Of course, the device described only constitutes an exemplary embodiment from which it is possible to depart without departing from the scope of the invention. In particular, the gripper driving devices may vary depending on the type of machine to which the invention will be applied.
