Free pulley, fitted with a friction clutch. The object of the present invention is a free pulley, provided with a friction clutch.
Fig. 1 is a section in elevation; Fig. 2 is a partial cross section thereof.
The pulley 1 rotates freely around the end of the transmission shaft 2, by means of the ball bearings 3, the inner bearing rings of which are fixed on said shaft. Between the bearings is located a ring 4, housed concentrically in an extensible ring 5, having a conical slot 5 ', the ring 4 and the ring 5 being made integral with the shaft 2, by means of a stop screw and adjustment 6, screwed into the ring 4, and the smooth part of which penetrates through a hole drilled in the wall left by a recess 7, made in the shaft 2.
The extensible ring 5 is thus housed concentrically in the hub 1 'of the pulley and is fitted there with little play, so that a slight extension of the ring has the effect of pressing it against the inner surface of the hub of the pulley. pulley 1. The smooth part of the screw 6 is long enough for its gripped end to enter the recess 7, so as to come to rest against a flat surface 8, which the member 9 of a control rod comprises. clutch 10.
By screwing or unscrewing this adjustment screw 6, it is possible, in the presence of a given axial displacement of. the member 9, respectively to increase or decrease slightly the pressure exerted by the member 9 on the clutch finger 12. The axial movement of the member 9 is limited in both directions by means of the stops 15, 15 'respectively striking against the clutch finger 12 and against the adjusting and stop screw 6, depending on whether the clutch control rod 10 is disengaged or engaged.
The member 9 comprises an inclined plane 11, on which rests the end of the clutch finger 12, the other conical end 13 of which is engaged in the conical slot 5 'of the extensible ring 5.
The clutch control rod 10 can be moved axially by means of a hand lever, not shown in the drawing. In order to enable the adjustment screw 6 to be reached by means of a screwdriver, holes 13, 13 'are made in the free pulley; the latter is threaded, so as to receive a screw 14.
The clutch operates as follows: With the transmission shaft 2 driving in rotation via the screw 6, the ring 4 and the ring 5, it suffices to move the clutch control rod 10 axially in the direction indicated by the arrow, so that the inclined plane 11 pushes the conical part 13 of the clutch finger 12 in the slot 5 'of the extensible ring 5, so as to open the latter.
The outer wall of the latter then comes to bear against the inner wall of the hub 1 'and by friction drives the pulley 1. The disengagement of the pulley 1 is effected by axially actuating the rod 10 in the opposite direction of the arrow, this which has the effect of allowing the clutch finger 12 to descend along the inclined plane 11, said finger being pushed back into the conical slot 5 'by the extensible ring 5, returning to its original position.
