Fig. 2 zeigt ein Ausführungsbeispiel der Erfindung.
Device for cooling mercury jet pumps. So far, it has been used for cooling sensitive equipment, such as high vacuum pumps and the like, these provided with double walls and passed the coolant between the two.
Fig. 1 shows an example of such an arrangement. g represents part of an apparatus to be cooled. For this purpose it is provided with double walls a and b. The coolant is supplied at c and discharged at d.
Practice has shown that when such arrangements are in operation, corrosion occurs on the walls a of the vessel to be cooled by the coolant. This corrosion, which can be attributed to chemical and physical influences of the coolant on the vessel walls, destroys the vessel walls over time, which leads to unpleasant malfunctions and makes it necessary to replace the entire arrangement.
To avoid these inconveniences, in the present device for cooling mercury jet pumps, the coolant is guided according to the invention in such a way that direct contact between the vessel to be cooled and the coolant is avoided.
Fig. 2 shows an embodiment of the invention. Around the vessel g of the mercury jet pump to be cooled, a double cylinder e closed off at both end faces is placed in such a way that the inner cylinder wall forms the best possible contact with the outer wall of the vessel g to be cooled.
This arrangement has the great advantage that if the cooling arrangement is damaged by corrosion, only the cooling arrangement itself and not the rest of the system needs to be replaced.
In order to facilitate the assembly of the cooling arrangement, the double cylinders according to FIG. 2 can be ausgebil det as semi-cylindrical vessels which are placed on the vessel to be cooled from both sides and fastened by means of flanges.
3 shows such an arrangement in cross section. G is again the vessel to be cooled, k and b are the two semi-cylindrical cooling vessels that are screwed onto the vessel g by means of the flanges f. This arrangement enables the cooling system to be replaced without the system to be cooled having to be dismantled.
Often it is desirable to renew the cooling system during operation BEZW. from mending. In this case, several juxtaposed, vonein other independent cooling vessels are advantageously provided, which abmon benefits individually during operation and by new respectively. repaired cooling vessels are replaced. can.
