Additional Patent subordinate to main patent n 117293. Device for controlling a rigid panel for closing a bay. The invention relates to a device for the. control of a rigid panel for closing a bay, comprising, according to the claim of the main patent, a panel in one piece, covering, in its' closed position, the entire surface of the bay to be closed, provided on each of its lateral sides, towards the middle of its height, by a journal guided in a vertical slide fixed against the uprights of the frame and connected to a cable passing over a return pulley placed above the opening,
at the other end of which is attached a counterweight intended to balance the panel, which is furthermore provided on each side of the upper edge of a roller rolling in a horizontal slide arranged perpendicularly to the plane of the bay, all these members being combined in such a way that to open the bay it suffices to impart an upward movement to the panel, moving the side pins in the vertical guides and the rollers in the horizontal guides and thus tilting the panel balanced by the counterweights, which tilts until it has reached a horizontal position towards the upper part of the bay, thus completely clearing the bay,
and that to close the bay, the operation takes place in the reverse order.
The additional invention relates to an alternative construction, which comprises means for securing the rigid closing panel, both in its closed position and in its horizontal open position towards the upper part of the bay.
The attached drawing shows an example of execution of this construction variant. Fig. 1 shows it in side elevation, while FIG. 2 is a detail, on a larger scale, of the closing mechanism of the panel.
Reference numerals in the drawing correspond to those in the drawing of the main patent. pal as long as they designate the same organs.
The device shown comprises a rigid panel 2 acting as a door and closing off the bay of a garage 1.
On each side of the frame and against its uprights is arranged vertically - an iron bar with U (not shown), which serves as a guide for a pin 4, fixed to the lateral side of the panel 2 , a little below the middle of its height. On each side of the panel is fixed at 5 ', near the barrel 4, a cable 5, guided by a return pulley 6 and carrying, at its free end, a counterweight 7 whose antagonistic force has at least the effect balance panel 2.
The upper edge of the panel 2 is provided on each side, at its end, with a roller 8 intended to engage in a horizontal slide 10, fixed to the cross wall, perpendicularly to the plane of the bay.
On the inside face of the panel 2 are mounted two bolts 11, 12 each of which is formed by a horizontal, movable bar terminating in a bevel. The bevelled end of each bar is engaged in a keeper (not shown) provided in the frame. The internal ends of the bars 11 and 12 are coupled to each other by a lock 13 pivoted in the panel 2 and the axis 14 of which having a square can be actuated from the outside of the panel using 'a key. A return spring 15 acts on the cremone which always tends to turn the cremone bolt and to keep the bolts engaged in their respective keepers.
Thus, the panel is locked in its closed position. To open it, it is necessary to turn the lock 13, by means of the key, against the spring 15, so that the bolts are released from their respective keeper. Once the bolts are released, the panel can be tilted as shown in the drawing (position 2 '), so that the rollers 8 are placed on the horizontal slides 10. Therefore, it suffices to give the panel a movement. ascending so that it rises, requested by the counterweight 7, and comes to be placed in a horizontal position 2 ", towards the upper part of the bay.
The mass of the counterweight 7 can be chosen so that its driving action is sufficient to automatically raise the panel. The means for securing the panel in its raised position, in order to prevent it from falling, in the event that the cables 5 should break, comprise, on the one hand, a bolt 16 mounted against the interior face of the panel, towards the lower part of this last. This bolt is guided by a flange 17 and is subjected to the action of a return spring (not shown). The bolt can be actuated by means of a chain or a cable 18 comprising a handle 19. The bolt 16 coo father with a latching flange 20, sealed in the upper part 21 of the frame ment of the panel.
Against the. part 21 is also attached a damping pad 22, rubber for example, intended to absorb the shock of the panel when it is raised and to dampen the noise. The bolt 16 engages, when the panel reaches the raised position, in the flange 20 and keeps the panel im mobile. To close the bay, the handle 19 is pulled to release the. clamp 20 the bolt 16; then the panel is lowered into its closed position. Once in this position, the panel is again secured by the bolts 11 and 12 which automatically engage in their respective keeper.
To ensure the panel in its closed position, one could provide other means than those recommended in the present example, for example a closure. espa gnolette.
