Process for the preparation of a violet pimple dye of the 2-thionaphthene-2-indolindigo series. It has been found that by condensation of oxythionaphthene derivatives of the general formula:
EMI0001.0005
where g denotes a halogen or an alkyl group, and Y denotes hydrogen, which may be substituted by an alkyl group or a halogen, with a-isatin chloride or a-isatin anilide or their derivatives, especially the halogenated, violet vat dyes that cotton and olle receive color from the alkaline hydrosulfite vat in purple tones, which by their purity and authenticity,
In particular, their excellent lightfastness exceeds the previously known vat dyes of the 2-thionaphthene-2-indolindigo series and is based on the well-known violet-colored vat dyes of the anthraquinone series, from which they are in turn characterized by their particular suitability for printing, as they easily appear on the Fix the fiber and let it etch pure white.
The present patent now relates to the preparation of a violet vat dye of the 2-thionaphthene-2-indolindigo series of the formula
EMI0001.0025
by condensation of the like. 6th 7-Trichloroxothionaphten with a 5.7-Dibromo-a-isatin body of the formula:
EMI0001.0031
where Ri denotes a radical which is split off during the condensation.
When dry, the dye is a violet-colored powder that is soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue-black color in the cold and a blue-green color in the heat; with alkaline hydrosrilfit it forms an orange-colored vat, from which cotton and wool in lively blue-violet shades of large Purity and excellent wash, light and chlorine fastness.
The 5. 6. 7-Trichloroxythionaphthene can be obtained, for example, from 2.3.4-trichloroaniline by converting it into 2.3.4-trichlorophenyl-1-thioglycolic acid, converting it by heating it with phosphorus trichloride into the corresponding chloride and condensing the latter by means of aluminum chloride , Phosphorus pentoxide, etc. represent. It crystallizes from benzene in pale yellow needles with a melting point of 150-153 C.
You can do the 5th 6. 7-Trichloroxythioriaphten also from symmetrical dichloroaniline (NI-I2: Cl: Cl = 1: 3: 5) or symmetrical trichloroaniline (NHs: Cl: Cl: Cl --- 1: 3: 4: 5) analogous to the process described in Swiss patents No. 71331 and Dir. 72277.
Example: 9.3 parts of 5,7-dibromoisatin are suspended in about 50 parts of chlorobenzene and, after adding 9 parts of pliosphorus pentachloride, are heated to the 5th. 7-dibromo-u-isatin chloride transferred. A solution of 7.7 parts is added to this solution. 5. 6. 7- Trichloroxythionaphthene in about ten times the amount of chlorobenzene and heats the mixture for some time to about 60 to 70 C. The dye separates until it is filtered and washed out with chlorobenzene, finally with alcohol.
5. 7-Dibromo-α-isatinanilide can be used in the same way.
