Sur le dessin annexé, donné à titre d'exemple La fig.1 est une élévation antérieure d'une forme d'exécution de l'appareil à dévider établi suivant la présente invention, et La fig. 2 est une élévation en bout de la face intérieure de l'une des consoles-supports représentées sur la fig. 1; La fig.3 est une élévation antérieure d'une seconde forme d'exécution de l'appareil à dévider ;
Apparatus for unwinding wire. The present invention relates to an apparatus for unwinding thread with a view to winding it in another form.
In devices known for this operation, it is customary to use a movable pulley with the ball or spool of wire to be unloaded, this pulley being braked by means of a flexible brake band passing over it, which band is fixed. at one end and which carries a weight at the other end, the braking effect thus produced being uniform throughout the operation, since the amplification of the braking is not modified by the wire unwinding.
In such apparatus, due to the decrease in the size and weight of the ball of yarn, the tension on the yarn varies by itself and in fine grades of yarn, such as those comprising silk. or fine denier artificial silk, such variation is detrimental, because when weaving the yarn into a canvas, an irregular striping effect is often produced. Other forms of braking devices or delay devices have been employed which have by no means been sufficiently satisfactory to give substantially equal tension.
In all these cases, it has been common practice to support the spindle carrying the spool or ball at both ends in rigid bearings, so that the function of the braking devices has been entirely independent of the support of the spool. .
The main object of the present invention is to achieve, in an apparatus for unwinding wire, a braking of the spool which can vary according to the weight of wire in the spool and this, without any friction or pressure exerted on the wire itself. .
According to the present invention, the unwinding axis is supported, at at least one of its ends, by means of a suspension loop braking band in which engages a pulley rotating with said axis, so that the braking force of the tape automatically adapts to the weight of the mass of thread located on the unwinding axis, with a view to keeping the thread tension substantially the same throughout the unwinding operation.
In the accompanying drawing, given by way of example, FIG. 1 is a front elevation of an embodiment of the unwinding apparatus established according to the present invention, and FIG. 2 is an end elevation of the interior face of one of the support brackets shown in FIG. 1; Fig.3 is a front elevation of a second embodiment of the unwinding device;
Fig. 4 is an end elevation of the interior face of the left console of FIG. 3, with the means serving to suspend the unwinding axis.
Referring firstly, more particularly to FIGS. 1 and 2, the apparatus comprises independent consoles a, fixed to a rod b by means of fixing screws c, one of these consoles comprising an open or closed bearing, d, which makes it possible to easily set up the axis unwinding or removing it. The other bracket, or other end of the cradle, is capable of supporting a band f, forming a loop, in leather or other suitable material, in which the axis e, intended to receive the coil or ball, is suspended by means of 'a grooved pulley or boss q, either formed on the coil itself, or fixed on the axis, as shown.
This loop is long enough to allow the pulley to be easily inserted or removed with the same ease. The ends of the band forming the loop can be suspended from a hook, either integral with the console or frame, or fixed to these members and capable of being adjusted, with respect to them, in order to allow the axis to be placed. in a horizontal position. On the other hand, one or both ends of the loop can be supported by a slider capable of crossing a portion of the cradle or of moving against a rigid face on the cradle, a fixing screw, or the like being used. to adjust the height of the loop.
In the drawing, the ends of the band forming a loop are fixed or clamped in a double metal clamp h, U-shaped, capable of being clamped between a bracket i, adjustable vertically, fixed to the bracket a on the left; by means of a bolt, j and an independent plate Ic. This plate k is tightened downwards by means of a thumb screw in, passing through a conical hole made in the console i.
The band forming a loop passes through an open groove made in the console i and the rear end of the plate lc is bent and guided in a hole made in the console i. The arrangement allows the vertical adjustment of the pulley placed at the end of the unwinding axis and it also allows the easy replacement of bands forming loops, of different widths, as seen from their use to unwind different classes of wire or for replacement of new bands, when necessary.
In order to prevent the support axis e from moving sideways, at the suspended ends due, the cradle or console has projections iz, between which the end of the axis can pass quite freely, but it is well understood that apart from this guidance, this axis has no bearing at the end at which it is suspended by the loop. One of the protrusions ta is extended in an inch, as in o, so as to serve as a guide, when the axis is placed in the operating position.
This is done by placing the right end of the axle in the fixed bearing and then inserting the other end into the loop of the belt so that the grooved pulley rests in the loop. The fixed bearing d can be constituted by a pad of fiber or other material.
In fig. 3 and -1, the consoles a are each formed, on one side, with a fixed bearing d and, on the other side with protrusions ja, this device being intended to be used when a certain number of end-to-end axes. Apart from the means for suspending the axle and maintaining its end pulley, in the lateral direction, the brackets or the supporting cradles may have any suitable shape, depending on the service to which the present invention is applied and the class of machines in which it is used.
Instead of using a fixed bearing at one end, to receive the axle and a loop braking device, at the other end of this axle, a loop braking device can be employed at each end. An arrangement of this kind is shown in broken lines in FIG. 3 and it is arranged in a manner similar to that shown in solid lines. In a case of this kind, one of the pulleys or bosses g must, of course, be removable with respect to the axis in order to allow the installation or removal of the coil or ball when necessary.
For this purpose, one end of the axle may have a thread on which a conical hole in the pulley engages, or the pulley may have a keyway which engages a key belonging to the axle. It is also possible to use any other suitable arrangement, to keep the pulley firmly attached to the axis during unwinding, while allowing it to be easily fixed to this axis and removed from this axis, for the purposes which have just been described. indicated.
In another variant, it is possible to have, at each end of the reel, a pulley g and, in this case, one can use any ordinary axis, fitting exactly in the reel, this avoiding the use of a removable pulley on the axle, as described in the previous paragraph. Or, again, one can fix one pulley on the axle and the other on the spool, at the opposite end, thus avoiding the use of the removable pulley.
Thanks to the device described, there is a retarding friction due to the weight of the axis or coil itself, resting in the loop or loops and the variable weight of yarn; under these conditions, the thread tension may remain substantially the same during unwinding.
