Des formes d'exécution de l'objet de l'in vention sont représentées, à titre d'exemple, au dessin s.nnexé, dans lequel: La fig. 1 montre une élévation latérale d'une de ces formes d'exécution; La fig. 2 en est une élévation de face; La fig. 3 montre en coupe horizontale une partie de l'appareil suivant la ligne C-D de fig. 2; La fig. 4 montre, à plus grande échelle, une vue de détail d'un mécanisme servant à mouvoir les feuilles hors d'alignement et en position d'espacement parallèle;
A method and apparatus for stacking sheets of paper together. The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for stacking sheets of paper or the like into one or more stacks.
The method has the particularity that the sheets are brought by moving them on the same surface one after the other, until. a point where they are then made to move one after the other out of this surface to bring them into the stacking position with spacing from each other, and that the sheets are finally brought into surface contact with each other. others.
The apparatus for carrying out this method comprises means for bringing sheets of paper or the like in a line on the same surface one after the other, up to a point where means then move them one after the other. after the others out of this surface to put them in a stacking position with spacing from each other, and means for finally bringing the sheets into surface contact with each other.
Embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 shows a side elevation of one of these embodiments; Fig. 2 is a front elevation; Fig. 3 shows in horizontal section a part of the apparatus along line C-D of FIG. 2; Fig. 4 shows, on a larger scale, a detail view of a mechanism for moving the sheets out of alignment and into a parallel spacing position;
Fig. 5 shows in horizontal section a fragment of this mechanism along the line A-B in FIG. 4; Fig. 6 shows in side elevation a fragment of another embodiment of the apparatus, and FIG. 7 is a front elevation. The apparatus shown in Figs. 1 to 5 is set for its application to lithographic printing, in which a moving paper web subjected to multi-color printing treatment is cut into sheets or posters forming one or more stacks.
In the drawing, a moving paper web 1 which has been subjected to a multi-color lithographic printing treatment is fed, by means of a pair of cylinders 2, into a cutting mechanism comprising a cutting blade. rotary ô and a fixed knife 4.
When the strip 1 passes between the rotating blade 3 and the fixed knife 4, it arrives on a table 5 which is established in the form of a hollow chamber arranged to receive pressurized air and to emit it through the orifices 6 so as to form a pad support for the web in its forward movement and to prevent the printed surface of the web from coming into contact with the machine table, and further aids in drying the color on the. bandaged.
Above the table 5 is mounted so as to be able to rotate a suction drum 7 which is connected by line 8 to a centrifugal pump arranged to suck air through the orifices 9 formed in the periphery of the tube. drum. As the leading edge of the web approaches the suction drum 7, it is drawn by suction into contact with the periphery thereof and moved forward by the rotation of the drum.
The drum 7 is mounted on a shaft 10 carrying a chain wheel 11 cooperating with a chain wheel 13 mounted on the shaft 14 carrying the rotating blade 3.
The shaft 14 is actuated by the main control of the machine and the chain 12 passes around the idler wheel 15 in order to reverse the direction of rotation of the drum 7 with respect to the shaft 14. The chain wheel 11 is arranged for actuate the drum 7 with a peripheral speed greater than the speed of the. movable band 1 so that, when the leading edge of the band is retained by suction on the drum 7, the part of the band placed between the advancement rolls 2 and the drum 7 is kept in tension, thus ensuring that the . strip 1 is only cut into sheets when its part between the advancement rolls 2 and the drum 7 is stretched.
In grooves formed in the periphery of the drum 7 engage belts 7a. These belts engage with pulleys 16 and 17 mounted on shafts 18 and 19 supported in such a way that a part of each belt is always located in a horizontal direction. Thus, when a sheet is cut from the strip 1, the drum 7 carries it with a speed greater than that of the leading edge arriving from the. strip so as to. separate the sheet from the web and take it pat., one half revolution by reversing it, after which the sheet is withdrawn from the drum and brought by the belts 7a to a horizontal position.
In this horizontal position the sheet engages on discs 20 formed in the lower end of four vertical helices 21. The discs 20 are provided with orifices ?? arranged to periodically coincide with suction pipes 23 which draw the sheet downwards and ensure that each sheet is brought into engagement with the discs 20 so as to prevent it from continuing its longitudinal movement.
The lower ends of the propellers 21 have a pitch greater than the upper part and each cut sheet, when brought into engagement with the discs 90. is engaged by the lower end of the propellers 21 and supported at four points from its edge, as it is rapidly lifted into a horizontal position with the aid of said propellers.
When the sheet has first been lifted by the discs 20, it is supported by the lower parts of the helices whose pitch is smaller than that of the upper parts and is gradually lifted to the top of said helices. The sheets which are supported at their edges by said propellers have their leading edges prevented from falling from the level of the discs 20 by fins mounted at. disc flower: 20.
The posterior ends of the sheets engage a guide member 25, and a tubular member 26 is placed over the other ends of the sheets: and , azD to receive pressurized air and emit it through the orifices 26A. The tubular member 26 with the emitted air jets tends to move the successive sheets which are supported on the helices 21 against the guide member 25 and also contributes to the upward movement of the sheets by simultaneously subjecting the sheets to a subsequent drying operation.
When the successive sheets have been cut from a movable feed strip, they are moved in this way by the suction drum and brought into engagement with the feed propellers 21 which move the successive sheets in a position parallel to each other. others and make them advance to the top of said propellers where they are placed one under the other, forming a stack.
In fig. 6 and 7, the guide member 25 mounted above the drum 7 is arranged to be moved, moving towards and away from the tubular member 26 mounted directly opposite. The movable guide member 25 is supported by two connecting rods 27 and 28 pivoting around journals 29 and 30 fixed on the apparatus.
The pivoting link 27 is secured at one point along its length to a pivoting link 31 which is connected at its free end to a pivoting lever 32 the free end of which engages with a cam 33 connected to a shaft 34 by the. intermediate of a ratchet wheel and a pawl 33a allowing the cam to be moved backwards by the button 33b. This arrangement enables the cam to be brought to zero while the device is in operation. The shaft 34 is operated by a helical wheel 35 which meshes with a worm 36 formed on the shaft 37. The shaft 37 is operated by a helical wheel 38 which meshes with a worm 39 formed on a shaft 40. which is operated by the main control of the appliance.
The double reference to. worm between the. cam 33 and shaft 40 connected with the main drive is a reduction of 500 to 1.
The cam 33 is divided into two sections so that in each complete revolution the cam moves the guide member 25 so as to move towards and away from the tubular element 26.
Since the return reduction is 500 to 1, the guide member 26 will be moved forward and backward for every 250 sheets fed to the feed propellers.
Thus, with the above-described arrangement, the stack formed at the top of the feed propellers is divided into a pile of 250 sheets each. It goes without saying that the return between the cam and the. Main control of the device can be constructed to separate sheets into piles of any desired number.
The feed and control propeller mechanism is therefore preferably constructed in a manner similar to that shown in the drawing, according to which the frame supporting the propellers and their "control" is hinged to the base of the apparatus by a yoke 41 mounted so as to be able to pivot on the shaft 10 on which the suction drum 7 rotates. This arrangement enables the stacking mechanism to be brought into a horizontal position so as to facilitate the free manipulation of the cutting mechanism.
