La tige 64 du piston 63 porte une articulation 65; par l'intermédiaire de la bielle 66 et de la manivelle 67, le mouvement du piston 63 est transmis à l'arbre 68; ce dernier est soli daire de l'engrenage 69, lequel entraîne par un train l'engrena;
EMI0004.0013
Si r _ a été choisi de façon que I'., = I,, la valve FO va fonctionner à nouveau, faisant faire un tour complet à l'arbre 68, et une ro taticn élémentaire (dans ce cas "f' de tour) au tambour-commutateur 50 et ainsi de suite;
en amenant successivement le commutateur (le commande aux crans 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 et R, on amènera le tambour-commutateur aux positions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, la. position 1 du tambour-commutateur étant la position de repos.
Si maintenant on désire démarrer auto- matiquernent, on amènera le commutateur(le ccmmande au cran qui correspond au cou plage voulu. Si par exemple c'est le couplage 4-rie parallèle qu'on veut réaliser automati- nuement, et qu'il soit réalisable par la posi tion 6 du combinateur, c'est-à-dire que le combinateur a opéré cinq rotations élémentaires, on amènera le contrôleur au cran nc 5, ne qui mettra sous tension le fil de contrâle général 11 au potentiel V;
EMI0004.0057
Remote control device for electric motors. The present invention relates to a control device. distance of electric motors, characterized by a control switch arranged to produce current changes in an electric control circuit which includes a receiving member arranged to obey these current changes, and to steer, in accordance with the orientation of the control switch, a secondary switch whose position determines that of a drum-switch which controls the circuit of the electric motors.
This device has the advantage of reducing to one the number of circuits which make it possible to remotely modify the position of the drum-switch.
The device -is more particularly applicable to. electric traction, although it can find its use in other fields.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example only, one form of execution of the device, applied to electric traction.
Fig. 1 is a general diagram; Fig. 2 is a section along II-II in FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a section following III-III in FIG. 1.
In the diagram of fig. 1, we denote by 1 a socket (on the overhead or underground line 2) and T is the earth (running rail). A resistor 3 is connected to the socket outlet 1 and to the earth and has sockets 4, 5, 6. r, 8, 9, 10, 11, eight in number in the figure, but can be any number as needed. 12 designates a control switch which, by its rotation around the axis A-A using the handle 13, brings the wire 14 (general control wire) successively in connection with the points 4 ,. 5 ... 11 of 3.
A switch 16, which constitutes a safety device, opens the circuit of resistance 3 when the operator stops pressing the button 15 and for example when he releases the handle 13. The chi-wire connection 14 with the different points 1 to 11 is established by the series of contacts 17 to. 24 of the control switch 12.
For each position of the control switch 12, a single contact from 17 to. 2-1 will come, in connection with the corresponding contact of the series of contacts 4 to. 11. so that for each position of the control switch 12, the general control wire 14 will be. placed under a well defined voltage, corresponding to the potential difference between each of the points 4 to, 11, and the. Earth.
The wire 14 runs all along the train. In each locomotive (or railcar) the following circuit is established: junction 25, wire 26, contact 28, reactance 27, wire 29, winding 30, wire 31, contact 32. Contact 32 rubs on a ring 33 secured to a wiper Ma which can touch a series of fixed contacts 31- to 41 separated by insulating keys 42 to 49 and which constitute the selector member, the bay 33 being integral with a rotary drum-switch 50. Contacts 34 to 41 are connected to different resistances 51 to. 58.
On the other hand, a capacitor 59 is mounted between 31 and earth to absorb the breaking sparks at the friction contacts.
The electromagnet 30, the role of which is described later, is excited when its winding is crossed by a given minimum intensity: it can also be excited for a higher intensity, but must not be excited. ter for lower intensity.
If we denote by R. the resistance of the part of the wire (control 14 which runs along the train, T, that of the, bypass between 25 and the earth, not including resistance 51, 52 .. . or 58 which is part of this circuit, r, that of one of these resistors 51 to 58, V the voltage to which the control wire 14 is brought, the current Z which passes through the electro 30 is:
EMI0002.0024
R can. be made negligible in front of (R, + r) so that I becomes
EMI0002.0030
The electromagnet 30 actuates a valve 60 which allows the compressed air contained in a reservoir 61 to enter the cylinder 62 where a piston 63 moves, which causes this piston 63 to move upwards.
The rod 64 of the piston 63 carries an articulation 65; by means of the connecting rod 66 and the crank 67, the movement of the piston 63 is transmitted to the shaft 68; the latter is integral with the gear 69, which drives by a gear meshing it;
, e 70. whose axis is B-B. Gears 69 and 70 are such that when 69 makes a full revolution, 70 only spins a fraction of the circumference
EMI0002.0037
(where n is the number of contacts 34 to 41) and in the example considered 1! .. On the wire. 1, it has been implicitly assumed for the complete start-up that eight combinations have to be made in the motor circuit. He has. therefore been made, out of 3, eight takes and in this case the ratio of the gears 69 and 70 will be.
than for a complete revolution of 69 around C-C. 70 will turn in circumference around B-B.
Valve 60 will be at. conical contact surfaces for automatic adjustment Î1r #, play: a spring: antagonist maintains the. key in the closed position of the intake 71, and opening of the exhaust 72; so that when the electromagnet 30 will not be sufficiently excited, the. 60 rPStcra valve in the actual closing position of the aclmissinn and opening of the exhaust.
Thus, if the valve does not admit a sufficient quantity of air for the center of gravity of the. nia- level 67 arrives above (the axis of rotation of this crank, the piston returns @ Zra without difficulty to s; 7 starting position- under the spring 93a: this case will occur when the electromagnet 73, the role of which is described below, will open circuit 25 to 34.
The drum-switch 50, whose role is to achieve in the circuit of motors the desired combinations for the setting in speed, to. the, like drum-coininators of tramways, is arranged on the same axis as the 70. gear.
Referring to fig. 1, it is seen that the valve 60 admits the compressed air into the cylinder 62 when energized, at the same time as it closes the exhaust of the air 72. The air discharged into the space 93 s' escapes at 94 when the piston head rises; when the latter descends, the air contained in space 95 escapes through 72. When 30 is no longer excited, the air intake is closed and the exhaust is opened. Taps 98 and 99 allow the speed of movement of the piston head 64 to be adjusted and therefore the. speed of rotation of the drum-switch 50. The electromagnet 30 is energized as long as the wiper 33a touches a contact 34 to 41.
But for it to act on the tap 60, there must be a minimum voltage between its terminals, as has been said previously. otherwise. says that a minimum current crosses its winding. Therefore, for resistances 51 to 58 given in the circuit, the general control wire 14 must be under a minimum, or higher voltage, for the valve 60 to operate. In addition, the duration of action of 30 will depend. of the. length of the segments which constitute the contacts 34 to 41 and 42 to 49.
It is therefore possible to determine the length of these segments so as to have sufficient air intake to bring the crank 67 into the. unstable balanced position; at that moment she fran chira. the critical position and will complete its rotation around C-C. The speed of this rotation will be. adjusted by acting on valves 98 and 99.
On the other hand, the electromagnet 30 actuates a contact 131 which controls the circuit of an electromagnet 130. This electromagnet is integral with a plate 132 wedged on the shaft B = B; the supply of this electromagnet takes place via the two rings 133 and 134, on which the contacts 135 and 136 rub, one of which, 135, is connected to the earth, and the other, 136, to the wire 137 connected, by 131, to wire 29.
The electromagnet 130a by being excited, attracts its armature 138 which normally forms a key between the plate 132 and the plate 133, integral with the drum-switch 50, freely mounted on the shaft B-B. The excitation of 130 removes this keying, and its de-excitation restores it, as explained below, by the action of res sort 139, bearing against a stop 140 of the plate 132.
The operation of the device will be as follows: It was assumed, to fix the ideas, that it was necessary to bring the clans eight positions to make him realize the. range of combinations required for the.
speeding up the train. If it is desired to start manually, that is to say if the driver wants to increase the speed of the train himself, he will bring the control switch 12 to the first position, which energizes the train. general control wire 14 at the voltage between 4 and the earth, that is to say to V, volts, the selector being in the rest position, If r, is the resistance 51, and R, that of the circuit between 25 and 34, the current L, crossing electro 30 will be:
EMI0003.0038
Resistance 51 = r will be chosen so that I, ie the minimum necessary for valve 60 to operate. Further, 131 is attracted such that the electromagnet 130 is de-energized, and the drum-switch 50 is secured to the shaft B-B. The shaft 68 will therefore turn one full turn, that is to say the drum switch 50 will rotate one-third of a turn, which brings the friction plate 33a in front of the. resistor 52 and the insert in the circuit between 25 and earth.
The current is interrupted in 30 for a large part of the complete rotation of 68, - p the electromagnet 130 is found cloned excited, but it cannot attract its armature 138 because at this moment it secures the plates 132 and 133, and that the friction as well. performed prevents unclipping, which can only take place at rest.
However, the circuit of 30 is reestablished when 52 is inserted in the circuit cooked between 25 and 34 with a value
EMI0003.0055
r2 being the. value of resistance 521. If rL a. been chosen so that 12 is clearly insufficient for 30 to operate, the switch drum will remain in its second position.
However, in this position of immobility, the excitation of 30, which is insufficient to actuate the valve 60, returned by a spring, is nevertheless sufficient to open 131, such that the electromagnet 130 does not is not excited.
If the control switch is now moved to the second position, the general control wire 14 will be energized at the potential between 5 and earth, i.e. V., and the current in 30 takes on a new value.
EMI0004.0013
If r _ has been chosen so that I '., = I ,, the FO valve will operate again, causing shaft 68 to make a full revolution, and an elementary rotation (in this case "f 'of turn) to the drum switch 50 and so on;
by successively bringing the switch (the control to notches 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and R, the drum-switch will be brought to positions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, the position 1 of the drum switch being the rest position.
If now you want to start automatically, you will bring the switch (the command to the notch which corresponds to the desired range neck. If for example it is the parallel 4-ry coupling that you want to achieve automatically. - simply, and that it can be achieved by position 6 of the combiner, that is to say that the combiner has performed five elementary rotations, the controller will be brought to notch nc 5, which will power up the control wire. general control 11 at potential V;
, that is to say the potential between 8 and T. The drum-switch 50 being in the Island rest position (first position) the current flowing through the electro 30 will be which is. greater than h since V5
EMI0004.0047
is the potential between 8 and earth, greater than the potential between 4 and earth. The drum-switch will therefore perform an elementary rotation, which will lead it. at position no?.
The current per current of the electromagnet 311 will be during Pli r2 which is still greater than I, due to the way 5? this was chosen as it was seen previously. The drum-switch will therefore perform an elementary rotation again and so on until it arrives at position 6.1 at this time, the current which will flow through will be.
EMI0004.0057
which is less than I ,; the drum-switch will therefore remain in this position.
The speed of operation will depend. obviously the volume of air admitted to lift the piston. This air volume will be a function of the air intake duration, that is to say (the length of the lines 31 to 41 and their position.
This speed of operation çzr ra c # @ a @ c- ment depends on the ease of escape offered to the air (which the piston compresses in each of its ascending movements and ashes) by the taps 98 and 99.
The speed of operation can be cloned by determining the length and position of segments 34 to 41, as well as the tension (spring 93a, and then perfect the adjustment by acting on the valves 98, 99 and 100. By an appropriate adjustment, the rotation of the taml) our-switch 50 will take place with a certain slowing down at the end (each of the elementary rotations.
It will have a slight stopping time once this elementary rotation has been broken, before rep.i i-tir for another elementary rotation due to the inertia of the crank 67 and of the spring 93a. In this way, any combination in the motor circuit will be effected by the switch-drum in a very positive way.
If, now we return the control switch 12 dcc to position 6 to. position 3 for example, the voltage on the control wire 14 decreases, and the excitation of 30 becomes insufficient to keep the contact 131 open. The tetro-magnet 130 gets excited, and the keying between 132 and 133 is removed.
4 this moment, a spiral spring 88 connected to the drum-switch 50, brings the latter back until the wiper 33a comes to switch on the resistor 53 (position 3).
This resistance corresponds to the voltage determined by the situation of 12, so that the electromagnet 30 is partially excited, and opens in 131 the circuit of 130 which, no longer being excited, allows the reestablishment of the circuit. thread 138 and securing of the switch drum 50 with the shaft BB.
To prevent the motors from being traversed by excessively high currents, the circuit between 25 and the earth (fig. 1) comprises a contact 28 (or several in series) closed by the electromagnet 73 whose winding is inserted in the circuit to be protected.
If at the end of an elementary rotation of the drum-switch 50, an overcurrent occurs in the motor circuit, the contact 28 is raised, the circuit between 25 and the earth is opened at 28; the electromagnet 30 no longer being energized, the valve 60 no longer operates, and the drum switch 50 does not rotate. As soon as the current in the motor circuit has returned to normal, the contact 28 closing, 30 and 60 act and the drum-switch 50 begins to perform its elementary rotations again.
The role of the electromagnet is to moderate the action of the drum-switch, but it does not mean the establishment of the usual protection relays in the motor circuit.
When you stop pressing 15, the switch-drum returns to rest, the electromagnet 130 then being energized with a view to provoking the unclipping as follows: the circuit of the motors supplying the electromagnet 73 comprises a contact 75 controlled by the electromagnet 74; the latter also controls a contact 76 which connects the rolling of the electromagnet 130 with the potential difference at the terminals of the motors.
When 15 is pressed, wire 14 is energized, electromagnet 74 is energized, contact 75 is closed, and winding 130 is not energized by this circuit.
When you stop pressing 15, the wire 14 is no longer under voltage, the electromagnet 74 is no longer excited, the contact 75 is open, the winding 130 connected to 76 is energized and the electro magnet 130 unclips the plate 133, which allows the drum-switch 50 to downshift to the rest position under the action of the antagonist spring 88.
The reverse gear command will be carried out as follows, referring to fig. 1.
In each locomotive or railcar, the current for supplying the motors passes through a manually operated reversing switch 100, then through an electro-pneumatic reverser 101 operated remotely from the head cab. When forming the train, 100 will be brought to the forward position in each locomotive or railcar. The role of the inverter 101 is to reverse the connections made by 100, so that during forward travel we will not act on 101, while for reverse gear, we will act on 101 for the duration of this march. back.
In order not to interfere with the general command described above, which is direct current, the valve 102 of the inverter 101 will be actuated by exciting its electromagnet 103 with high frequency alternating current. For this purpose, a small generator motor unit 104, 105 will be mounted in each cabin, connected to the pipe 106 of the auxiliary devices (fans, compressors) through a switch 107. The generator is connected, on the one hand, to earth, and, on the other hand, to the general control wire 14 by a circuit comprising a capacitor 108 and a switch 109.
The alternating current will flow through 108, energize 14, and therefore the circuit of the electromagnet 102 by passing through the capacitor 110. The reactance 27 will prevent the alternating current from flowing in the circuit between 25 and the earth and capacitors 108 and 110 will prevent direct current from flowing through the circuit of 108 and 105.
The train being formed, the wattman having brought the reversers 100 of each locomotive or railcar to the position corresponding to forward travel, if the switch 107 is open, he will only be able to perform forward travel; if he wants to reverse, he will shut down 107, which starts the 1U4 motor. The valve 102 is mechanically constructed in a similar fashion to the valve 60, but the winding of 103 will be dimensioned differently from that of 30. The switch 109 enables the generator 105 to be isolated from 1.1.
The inverter 101 comprises at 111 a cylinder movable around its axis and carrying two insulated copper strips 112 and 113 on which rub the pairs of contacts 11.1 and 116 as well as the pair of contacts 115 and 11 "c shown in fig. 1. When the electromagnet 103 is not energized, the cylinder will be held in its normal position by a counter spring and then the contacts 114 and 115 are connected directly by 112, while the contacts 116 and 117 are connected by 113 , so that for this position the inverter 101 does not modify the connections made by the inverter-switch 100.
The control device is arranged on one of the bases 111 of the cylinder or else on both, but in this case with, preferably, a single control valve 102. When the electromagnet 103 of the valve 102 is ex cited, 102 admits compressed air from the tank see 61 in the pipe 118, which has. the effect of rotating cylinder 111 such that 114 is connected by 112 to 117 and 115 is connected to 116 by 113. Therefore, the connections of the inverter-switch 100 are reversed hence reverse gear results.
When the electromagnet 103 of 102 is no longer energized, 102 lets air escape through 121 and the rotary inverter 101 reverts to. its rest position by re-establishing the connections of the inverter-switch 100, from which forward travel results. A switch 122 makes it possible to isolate the unused cabins from the general control wire 14.
The devices described can be modified during the applications.
The spring 93a can be removed by giving the crank 67 a sufficient mass. The clutch between 132 and 133 could also be transferred between shaft 68 and gear 19, which would allow the use of a fixed clutch control solenoid.
In order to excite the general control wire 1.1, a winding 3 provided with taps 1 to 11 has been described, being a simple means of obtaining different voltages of defined value; but one could also obtain them by other means and for example by a motor-generator unit delivering on a resistor with taps for each voltage to be obtained or directly feeding. on 1.1 with voltage variation obtained by acting on the excitation of the generator, on a resistance in series with the armature or any other device.
Accumulator batteries could also be used. This system will therefore be applicable in traction by alternating or direct current. In the example of application chosen, provision has been made for the control to be effected with direct current and the reverse gear with alternating current. The reverse could be adopted in particular in the case of AC distribution.
If the distribution voltage is subject to strong variations, the position of point 126 will be, adjusted by hand or using an automatic regulator, so as to maintain the voltages between 4, 5 ... 11 and the earth is more or less constant. In special cases, we can. use several drum-compressors and the desired number of valves and electromagnets.
