<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>

"REMOTE TRANSMISSION AND CONTROL DEVICE '
The present invention relates to a remote transmission and control device by pulses sent by wires, wireless or directed waves, by means of which all appropriate devices placed at the station are automatically controlled from a so-called transmitter station. a so-called receiver station following the indications, supplied for example by a measuring device or the like, placed at said transmitter station.
The present invention will be better understood from the following description, given with reference to the appended drawing, given by way of example only, in which:
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
FIG. 1 is a diagram of one form of arrangement of a station: transmitter according to the invention,
FIG. 2 is a diagram of an embodiment of a receiving station according to the invention,
Figure 3 is a diagram of a variant of Figure 1.
The transmitter station, shown in figure 1, comprises a servo motor 6 with two windings 4 and 5 arranged so that the directions of rotation of the motor are opposite to each other depending on whether one or the other. other of these windings is traversed by the current. The servomotor shaft 9 carries three cams ci * C2 and C3 which respectively actuate contacts c1, c2 and c3 when the motor 6 rotates.
On the other hand, an appropriate measuring device, of the relay type for example, is placed at the transmitting station, so that its mobile equipment drives, directly or through suitable devices, a member 1 which can come to the station. contact of fixed pads 2 and 3 according to its direction of movement.
Between the pads 2 and 3 and the windings 4 and 5 of the servomotor 6, is arranged a switching system such that the motor 6 rotates by an amplitude and in a direction determined according to whether the member 1 comes into contact with the one or the other of the pads 2 and 3, regardless of the duration of this contact. In addition, the switching device controls the emission of pulses of a determined nature depending on whether the component 1 comes into contact with one or more of the pads 2 and 3 and, consequently, that the servomotor turns in one way or the other.
Another object of the present invention is to prevent any new operation of the servomotor placed at the center.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
receiving station as long as the current function is not terminated,
The receiving station, shown diagrammatically in FIG. 2, comprises a servo-motor 16 with two windings, 14 and 15 arranged so that the directions of rotation of the servo-motor are opposite to each other depending on whether one or the other of these windings is traversed by the current.
The power supply to these windings is controlled by switches actuated by the emissions from the transmitter station so that the rotation of the servomotor, placed at the receiver station, takes place in one direction or the other according to the received pulse whose nature depends, as indicated above, on the direction of rotation of the servo-motor placed at the transmitter station.
The shaft 20 of the servomotor 16 comprises three cams Dit D2 and D which respectively actuate contacts d1, d2 and d3 during the rotation of the motor. These contacts, in combination with the switching system indicated above, allow the motor to rotate at a fixed and constant amplitude.
The object of the present invention is also to prevent any new operation of the servomotors placed at the transmitter and receiver stations as long as the operation in progress is not completely finished,
The operation of the transmitter and receiver stations will now be described in more detail.
Assuming that the measuring device placed at the transmitting station is actuated so as to bring the member 1 into contact with the stud 2, a supply circuit, for the winding 4 of the servomotor 6, is established by : positive pole of the source, contacts v1, b1 and a1 at rest, device 1 in contact with pin 2, contact f1 at rest,
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
winding of relay T, winding 4 and armature of servo motor 6, negative pole of the source. The motor 6 is driven in rotation in the direction of the arrow f and the cams c2 and c3 close the contacts 02 and c3.
A new supply circuit for winding 4 of servo-motor 6 was established by: positive pole of the source, contact c3 working, contact t3 working, contact rl at rest, winding of relay T, winding 4 and armature of the servomotor 6, negative pole of the source.
It can therefore be seen that, even if the contact between member 1 and pad 2 is broken, the motor continues to rotate as long as contact c3 is kept closed by cam c3
Closing of contact c2 by cam c2 closes a power supply circuit for the winding of relay B by: source positive pin, contact c2 on, contact r4 off, winding of relay B, negative pole of the source .
The B and T relays are then energized and the normally open contacts t1. t2. t4 and b1 are open. It can be seen that the various supply circuits of the windings of the relays A and R cannot be established and that, consequently, the winding 5. Of the servomotor 6 cannot be supplied.
The energization of relays T and B closes a circuit for the winding of the relay Efs by: positive pole of the source, contact v2 at rest, contacts b3 and t5 at work, winding of E fs, negative pole of the source. The relay E fs is energized and sends an impulse, by any suitable means, to the receiving station (by wire, wireless or by directed waves), this impulse having given characteristics.
E fs by energizing closes a holding circuit for itself by: positive light from the source, contact v2 at rest, contact efs at work, contact t5 at work, winding of E fs, negative pole of the source, ¯ so that,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
when relay B is no longer energized, E fs remains energized and continues to send pulses until contact v opens, as will be indicated later when the receiving station is operating.
The servomotor 6 continuing to rotate, the cam c2 releases the contact c2 which opens and cuts the supply circuit of the relay B which de-energizes without causing disturbances in the operation of the device. Cam c3 releases, after a rotation of determined amplitude
3 '(one turn in the case considered), the contact c which opens, thus cutting off the supply circuit of the servomotor 6 and the whole of the device placed at the transmitter station returns to rest following the de-energization of the relay T .
Assuming that the motor 6 continues to rotate by inertia, for example, thus causing the closing, by the cams c3 and c1, of the contacts c3 and c1, we see that a supply circuit for the winding of the relay A is formed. found established by: positive pole of the source, contact c1 at work, contact t4 at rest, winding of A, negative pole of the source. Relay A is energized and establishes a power supply circuit for winding 5 of servomotor 6 via: positive pole of the source, resistance 7, contacts r2 and t2 at rest, contact a2 on, winding 5 and induced from the servomotor 6, negative pole of the source. Resistance 7 is chosen equal to that of each of the windings of relays T and R.
Motor 6 is driven in the opposite direction to that of arrow f and cams c3 and c1 release contacts c3 and c1 which open. Opening c1 cuts off the motor supply circuit which stops in its rest position. Assuming that it exceeds this position again, we see that the cam c2 would close the contact c2 the relay B
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
would be excited, establishing a supply circuit for the winding 4 of the servomotor 6 which would tend, by a rotation in the direction of the arrow f, to return to its rest position.
It will also be noted that, the apparatus being at rest, if the servo-motor is turned by hand. 6 in one direction or the other, it will automatically return to its rest position.
Cams c2 and C3 are identical and a closing angle, which for the moment seems advantageous, is equal to approximately 45. The cams c1, c2 and c3 are wedged on the shaft 9 of the engine, so that the points of contact c1 and c2 are the same as well as those of the cams of the cams c2 and c3 depending on whether you turn one way or the other.
We will now describe the operation at the receiver station when emissions have taken place and it will be assumed that these emissions come from the excitation of the relay E fs placed at the transmitter station. These emissions picked up by any suitable means M excite the relay S by: positive pole of the source, M winding of S, contact U2 at rest, negative pole of the source. S is energized and establishes a power supply circuit for winding 14 to the servomotor 16 by: positive pole of the battery, contact 84 in operation, winding 14 and armature of the servomotor 16, negative pole of the source.
The motor 16 is rotated in the direction of the arrow f and the cams D2 and D2 close the contacts of 2. d3 and d "2 The closing of the contact of 2 establishes a power supply circuit for the emitting device E fv which launches pulses, the purpose of which will be explained below.
Closing contact d3 establishes a new supply circuit for the winding of relay S by: pole
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
source positive, contact d3 on, contact s3 on, winding of S, contact u2 at rest, negative pole of the source, so that, even if the pulses cease, the relay S continues to be energized during all . the determined amplitude of the rotation of the motor corresponding to the angle of cam D3 When cam D3 releases contact d3, the latter, when opening, cuts off the supply circuit for the winding of relay S, which de-energizes and opens, in s4le supply circuit of the winding 14 of the servomotor 16. The latter stops and the whole of the apparatus returns to rest.
Assuming that the rotation of the motor in the direction of arrow f is continued by inertia for example, until driving the cams D1 and D3 to close the contacts of 1, to E3 and d "1, we see that a circuit power supply of winding 15 of motor 16 is established by: positive pole of the source, contact of 1 in operation, contact s1 in rest, winding 15 and armature of servo-motor 16, negative pole of the The motor 16 will rotate in the opposite direction to the arrow f and the cam Dl releasing the contact of 1. the latter will open and cut off the power supply to the motor 16, which will stop in the rest position.
It can also be seen that, if the motor 16 is rotated by hand, for example, of a sufficient amplitude for one of the cams D1 or D2 to close its corresponding contact of 1 or 2, the motor will be automatically returned to its rest position.
In addition, each time the engine turns - '.', Of a sufficient amplitude for one of the cams D1 or D2 to close, its corresponding contacts dtl of 1 or 2 d "2, we see that the circuit of the transmitting device E fv closes and sends a pulse to the transmitting station.
The emissions sent by the E fv device are
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
received at the transmitting station and actuate, by any suitable means, the relay V which energizes and opens the contacts v1 and v2 The opening of these contacts prevents any further actuation of the device in the event that the servomotor 6 is returned to rest, the initial supply circuit of the motor 6, via the member 1, being cut off at v1 and also prevents any emission by the devices E fa and E fu, the circuit of each of them being cut in v2,
In addition, the excitation of relay V causes the closing of a contact v3 which establishes a supply circuit for a device 8 for controlling the operation of the receiving station (lamp for example).
So that the emission device E fv placed at the transmitter station is supplied with power throughout the duration of the operation of the engine, the cams D1 and D2 have a layout such that there always exists at least one of the contacts of Il and d "2 which is closed while contact d3 is working.
It would be possible, without departing from the scope of the present invention, to replace the contacts d "1 and d" 2 by a single contact which would be actuated by the cam D3 at the same time as the contact.

à3, a is to say, during all the activation time of the motor of the receiver station.
It will be noted that the locking transmissions acting on the relay V placed at the transmitting station can have the same characteristics as one of the transmissions E fs or E fu of the transmitting station, it suffices to add receiver relays V to the circuits. and S or V and U, as the case may be, corresponding locking contacts.
It will also be noted that, in all of the above, the operation of the transmitting station and that of the receiving station has been described only in the case where the device 1 has come.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
in contact with pad 2, which resulted in an emission by the device E fs, it is obvious that the operation is repeated, in a similar manner, in the case where the member 1 comes into contact with pad 3.,
Figure 3 shows a diagram of a variant of the transmitter station relating specifically to relays R and T.
Each of these relays has two windings R1, R2 and T1 T2 such that, if only one of these windings is supplied, the relay does not operate. Operation can only take place if the two flows of the same relay are supplied simultaneously, one R1 or T1 being in series with the circuit comprising the movable member 1, the other R or T2 being in series with the circuit comprising contact c3 in series
Assuming, for example, that 1 comes into contact with the pad 2, we see that the winding T1 is supplied by the following circuit:
source positive light, contact v1 at rest, contacts a1 and b1 at rest, component 1 in contact with pin 2, contact r at rest, winding T1, winding 4 'and armature of servo motor 6, negative pole of the drums. The motor 6 turns and the cam c3 closes the contact c3 which establishes the following circuit for the winding T2: positive pole of the source, contact r6 at rest, winding T2, negative pole of the battery. Windings T1 and T2 are then both energized and the relay can remain operating. The rest of the operation / the same as in the case of FIG. 1. A similar operation occurs for the windings R1 and R2 when the device 1 comes into contact with the pad 3,
Resistor 7 is then chosen equal to that of each of the windings R1 and T1.
We could also, at the receiving station or at the
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
transmitter station or both simultaneously, control the shaft carrying the cams by means of suitable reduction gears respectively driven by the servomotors 16 and 6 instead of wedging them on the shafts of these servomotors. Likewise, the determined amplitude of rotation of the shafts carrying the cams may be equal to a fraction of a turn.
The servomotor 16, placed at the receiving station, also controls, either directly or by means of electrical contacts placed on the circuit of a servomotor or any other device, the device which is to be triggered. automatic remote operation. Thus, the transmitter station described above being located, for example, at the point of use of the electrical energy produced by a central station placed at the receiver station, if the control device actuating the member 1 is a wattmeter, one controls, by means of the servo-motor 16 placed at the receiving station, therefore at the central, the servo-motor which acts on the regulator of the turbine of the energy-producing turbo-alternator. In this way, the amount of energy produced will constantly meet the needs of the use.
For this, the servomotor 16 controls, by a wheel and worm 35 system, the longitudinal displacement of two rubbers 36 and 37 which rest on the periphery of the drums. These drums 27, 23 and 29 are wedged angularly on a shaft 38, but can move lengthwise on this shaft 38, either manually by means (all suitable devices, or by means of a cam 33 which is angularly secured and axially of the shaft 38 is constantly supported on a fixed stop 39 under the action of a spring 40. All of these drums are driven in rotation by means of a timer 32.
The drums 27.28
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
and 29 are electrically isolated from each other; enoutre, the conductive drums 28 and 29 are separated by an insulating drum 34 of a certain height determined in advance, as will be explained below. Trotters '41, 42 and 43 are supported respectively on each of the drums 27, 28 and 29, The wipers' 42 and 43. are connected to the coils 44 and 45 for controlling an inverter 30, the wiper 41 is connected to the coils. terminals of the variable speed motor 46 which controls a pulse emitter 31 on which rest two wipers 47 and 48, one of which is connected to one of the poles of a power source and the other to the 'moving part of the reverser.
The servo motor 16 drives the screw of the screw and nut system in rotation; the contacts 36 and 37 are moved: in one direction or the other depending on the direction of rotation of the screw. It will be assumed that the wipers move to the right by a sufficient quantity (corresponding to a certain number of pulses) for the wiper 37 to come into contact with the drum 29. The width of the insulating drum is determined so that the number of pulses necessary to bring the wiper 37 into contact with one of the drums 28 or 29, corresponds to a certain variation in the load below which it is not desirable to act on the regulating devices of the turbo-alternators.
The wiper 37 having come into contact with the drum 29, a circuit closes for the winding 44 of the inverter 30 by: wiper 37, drum 29, wiper 43, winding 44, earth. The inverter 30 establishes contact with one of the pads 47 or 48 placed on the control circuit of the servomotor used for regulating the turbines. The slider 36 has also moved to the right and the resistance of the drum 27 between the sliders 36 and 41 has increased, which has
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
resulting in a decrease in speed for the motor 46 and the pulse generator 31 sends pulses of a certain duration.
If there is a further movement of the wiper 36 to the right, the resistance increases, the speed of the motor 36 decreases and the duration of the pulses increases, which results in a more extensive action of the regulating servomotor.
The resistant drum 27 can be made in different ways with the aim of switching on a resistance during the movements of the wiper 36. Thus, for example, a resistant wire is wound around the periphery of the drum in the known manner, again, the periphery of the drum is formed by a thin and very strong blade on which the rubbers rest, or the drum is formed by a superposition, along the axis, of alternately insulating and conductive discs, the conducive discs. - Teurs being mounted in series, with interposition between any two adjacent discs of a resistance.
The longitudinal and angular displacement of all the drums 27, 28 and 29, as well as the transverse displacement of the wipers 41, 42 and 43, is intended to compensate for the load variations known in advance while at the same time less ap - proximally. For this, the cam 33 is plotted according to the average diagram of the loads at the transmitting station at each moment of the day and the automatic regulation is made from the values of this diagram increased or decreased by an arbitrary value depending on the height given to the insulating drum 34. The drum can also be moved in translation manually, by means of any suitable devices, these means being used alone or in combination with the automatic means indicated above.
It can easily be seen that the present invention applies to the case where there are either several transmitting stations,
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
either several receiving stations, or several transmitting and receiving stations operating simultaneously, with the receiving stations then obeying the transmissions from the stations placed at the distribution points.
Likewise, the adjustment device can act to adjust all other characteristics of the current, for example its frequency; in this case, the control unit 1 placed at the transmitter station is controlled by a frequency meter instead of a wattmeter and the suitable reception devices placed at the receiver station are such as to act to modify the frequency of the current produced.
