Command for reducing the keystroke in typewriters. The present invention relates to a control making it possible to reduce the striking of the keys in typewriters, of the type in which the key, after it has been depressed by the finger for a few milli meters, closes the circuit of an electronic device. -magnet which activates a mechanism automatically driving the key fully, characterized in that the touch bars move between the teeth of a comb carried by an oscillating frame, each tooth carrying a pawl which oscillates when the bar is in contact button with the tail of the ratchet,
so as to engage the nose of the pawl on the touch bar and to drive the latter downwards following the frame, which is attracted by the electromagnet acting on a moving part carried at the end of an arm connected by fork to a bar forming part of said frame, which is returned in position by a spring.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing the overall arrangement of the parts of the mechanism ; FIG. 2 is a front view of a detail of the order; Fig. 3 shows the same detail in an intermediate position of the key during its lowering; 'Fig. 4 is an elevational view of a modified form of the detail of FIG. 2; Fig. 5 shows an embodiment of the current switching device; Fig. 6 gives various successive positions of the device of FIG. 5.
A frame 15 is constructed so that it can be attached to the interior of the frame of most typewriters. This adaptation is done for example by means of claws with nuts, so as not to obstruct the movement of the keys.
This frame 15 carries on each side an axis 4 on which can pivot a frame 3, 14, 16, the front part 14 of this frame being located in front of the bars 13 'of the keys 13, due when they are lowered, they do not come into contact with this part 14. The rear of this frame is formed by a comb 16 whose teeth 17 leave between them voids 18 in which the bars 10 of the keys can move vertically. This comb 16 is located near the vertical and transverse plane of the frame of the typewriter, that is to say where. all button bars are at the same level. At rest, these bars are located a short distance above the bottom of these voids 18. There are obviously as many voids 18 as there are 13 keys.
Each tooth 17 of the comb carries a small pawl 1 oscillating about an axis 2, these pawls comprising a nose, or upper hook 12 'and a tail 11 curved so as to be located under the bar 10 and almost in contact with it, in the raised position thereof. In this position (fig. 2), the spout 12 is in contact with the side of the bar 10.
Above the comb 16 reigns, over the entire width, a keyboard, a bar 9, fixed to the frame of the fixed frame 15, and which comprises a (, series of projections or lugs 20, terminated by an inclined plane corresponding to the tilting the nose of each ratchet 1.
On the other hand, the oscillating frame 3 carries, in the direction of the depth of the machine, an arm 5, the end of which carries a pin 5 ', housed in the fork 6' of a bar 6. This bar 6 oscillates around an axis 21 and its small arm carries the mobile part of the electromagnet 8 located on the back of the typewriter.
The oscillating frame 3 is biased by a spring 22 towards its rest position indicated in FIG. 1 and each key of the machine is placed under the action of a spring (not shown) which returns it to its normal position in FIG. 1, each time it has been started.
When a key is pressed (of a few millimeters), the bar 10 of this key abuts against the tail 11 of the corresponding pawl 1, and any cry causing the frame 3 to tilt by the pawl, it brings this pawl into the position of the fig. 3, that is to say that at the moment when the touch bar comes into contact with the bottom of the space 18, the pawl has its beak engaged above the bar in question. The key, continuing to sink, takes with it the whole frame 3 which oscillates around its axis 4.
By this oscillating movement, the circuit of the electromagnet is closed (for example by a mechanism such as that of fi-. 5 and 6) and the moving part of this electro is attracted, which determines the oscillation of the bar 6 and consequently continues the drive of the frame 3 which, by the hook 12, in turn drives the relevant key to the bottom race ; printing takes place, then the spring 22 returns the frame 3 to its position (rest as soon as the circuit has been cut.
The pawl which has been moved by its key drives it to bring it to the full stroke and returns to its initial position thanks to the lugs 20 of the fixed bar 9.
The other pawls slide along their respective touch bar without pulling it.
The device for closing and opening the electric circuit which controls the electromagnet is shown in one embodiment in FIG. 5. The universal bar 26, which extends over all the keys of the keyboard, is curved at both ends in two arms 27 oscillating around an axis 28 or two feet carried by the sides of the frame of the ma China. To an arm 217 is attached a spring wool 29 extending towards the front of the machine and constituting the long arm of the pivoting lever 2b-29.
This long arm ends in a part 30, forming a contactor for two Theophores 31, 32 interposed in the electrical circuit controlling the electro, o-airnant. The Theophore 32 is fixed, while the Theophore 31 is formed of a spring wool so that under a determined force, this Theophore 31 can move away from the reophore 32.
The contactor 30 has, in cross section, the shape shown in FIG. 6.
In the rest position of the machine, the contactor is located under Theophores 31, 32, which are in their close close position (first position fig. 6); as soon as, by pressing a key, the universal saddle bar is lowered, the contactor rises, and, by its inclined upper edge, separates the rhephore 31 from the rheophore 32, while closing the electrical circuit by contact with the two rhephors. The contactor engages completely between the two rheophores (second position fis.
6) and, continuing its upward course, finally emerges from them (third position fis. 6). At this time, the electrical circuit is open, the rheophore 31 approaches the rheophore 32. The uni verselle bar rises to its rest position, while the contactor goes down. In this downward movement, its lower inclined edge rests against the rheophore 31 and, thanks to the spring 29, allows the contactor to move laterally to take the fourth position of the fis. 6. At the end of the descent movement, the contactor leaves the rheophore 31 and returns to its central position thanks to the spring 29.
The mechanism described comprises only one or two electromagnets and one or two res spells; all transmissions are direct. In addition, the electromagnet being placed behind the machine, it can receive any desired size and shape.
The ratchet bar (comb) and the lug bar 9 occupy a very small space, a few millimeters thick, which makes it possible to adapt the object of the invention to all typewriters.
Instead of a bar such as 9, one can use a bar 23 (fis. 4) which is substantially identical, but fixed below the swinging pawls 1. The tails 11 of these have a curved end portion 24. , which, when the frame 16, 3 reaches approximately the end of its oscillation, abuts against the inclined part 25 of the fixed bar 23, which causes the oscillation of the pawl 1 to release the touch bar 10. The latter, under the influence of its spring, returns to its initial position, while the frame 16, 3 rises under the action of the spring 22, the beak 12 of the pawl sliding along the touch bar to return to the position of the fis. 2.
The frame 15 can obviously be a special frame, supporting all the parts of the mechanism and attached to the frame of the machine.
