Le dessin représente, à titre d'exemple, plusieurs formes d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention La fig. 1 montre en élévation et la fig. 2 en plan l'armature métallique du balai ; La fig. 3 représente en perspective la partie repliée de l'armature sur laquelle on enfile la frange; La fig. 4 montre le boulon de serrage pour lui seul; La fig. 5 représente en perspective la douille où s'adapte le manche; La fig. 6 montre en plan les deux par ties de l'armature séparées ; La fig. 7 les montre en élévation et écar tées l'une de l'autre en les regardant du côté intérieur;
(fig.
Broom with flexible removable pad. The present invention relates to a broom with flexible removable lining. The term broom should be taken here in its general sense, it means a long-handled broom as well as a brush, a dustpan, etc.
This broom is characterized in that it comprises, fixed to its handle, a frame presenting at least two branches having the general shape of the body of the broom and intended to serve as a support for the trim, which is threaded on. they by their free ends.
The free ends of the branches of the frame will preferably be at a small distance from each other so as to facilitate the engagement of the lining on the frame.
The broom pad may consist of a cotton fringe attached to a smooth neck of fabric. This slide is slipped over the branches of the broom frame and can therefore be easily fitted or interchanged.
An articulation device can be provided between the handle and the broom frame; these two members can be connected removably and their inclination relative to each other can be varied at will.
This device can be constituted by a clamp, formed by a flat iron, suitably folded and split, which fits on a fixing bolt serving to secure the two articulated parts to the desired inclination.
The drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the object of the invention. FIG. 1 shows in elevation and FIG. 2 in plan the metal frame of the broom; Fig. 3 shows in perspective the folded part of the frame on which the fringe is threaded; Fig. 4 shows the clamping bolt for itself; Fig. 5 shows in perspective the socket where the handle fits; Fig. 6 shows in plan the two parts of the frame separated; Fig. 7 shows them in elevation and separated from each other, looking at them from the inside;
Figs. 8 to 9 show in elevation and cross section the packing; Fig. 10 shows this packing at the start of its installation; Fig. 11 and fig. 12 show it in place; Figs. 13 to 27 relate to various embodiments of the invention; Figs. 28 to 32 relate to yet another variant; Figs. 33 to 35 represent a second embodiment.
With reference to fig. 1 to 2 of the drawing: the frame intended to support the fringe orr trim consists of two similarly curved parts. One of these parts carries a spacer b, riveted to it permanently and having at its end a pin c which engages in a corresponding hole d of the other part (fig. 7).
These two parts a are joined together by a bolt e. (fig. 4), with wing nut, which passes through a notch f of one of the parts, a duct g formed in the socket la (fig. 5), used to fix the handle, and a hole i in the other room. It is enough to engage the stud c in the hole d, then to pass the bolt c in the slot f, the duct g and the hole i and to tighten the wing nut to join together. the elements of the frame.
The oblique slot f facilitates this assembly by allowing the bolt to be inserted at an angle and then lowered. Without this arrangement, assembly would be impossible, the interval D (fig. 6) being less than the length of the bolt.
To secure the bolt in a fixed position, when it is in place, the latter has a shoulder j which fits exactly into a corresponding rounded part ending the slot f.
The trim consists of a fringe of cotton thread 1 (fig. 8 and 9), secured to a ne fabric slide intended to be engaged on the blades a. This slide has a special arrangement as shown in fig. 9. The fabric straddles the ends of the wicks and is folded back to form an internal conduit for the reinforcement. This arrangement prevents the shock of the frame against the objects and can be achieved economically with little labor.
To place the trim, it is engaged as shown in fig. 10, presenting each of its ends to the free ends n of the frame. As these ends are almost straight, this engagement is very easy. The lining then follows by itself the curvatures of the blades a. When it is fully depressed on the blades, the broom appears as shown in fig. 11 and 12.
We can also engage the fringe by separating the two parts of the mature back beforehand and then joining them together.
By loosening and tightening the nut e, the handle can be given any desired inclination, thus facilitating the passage of the broom over or under furniture or against their faces. It will be noted that the device is of low height and that by fully lowering the cry handle easily passes under the furniture leaving little space between them and the floor.
Fig. 13 shows a variant in which the two blades a are combined into one. The frame is then formed by a simple strip or strip of curved metal, completed by the sleeve h. and bolt e. The lining is engaged in the same way as has just been described, with reference to FIG. 10.
Fig. 14 relates to another variant in which the bolt can be permanently engaged in the holes of the blades a, and it is the sleeve fi . which then presents a notch f oblique or parallel to the length of the socket. In this case, it is necessary to add to the device a spring to immobilize the handle perfectly on the nut, or to provide the bolt and its nut with bases long enough to penetrate into the socket and ensure its retention.
Another variant embodiment shown in FIG. 15 consists in providing the sleeve h with two pins o engaging in the holes of the parts a. With this arrangement, the bolt e must be placed between the spacer b and the sleeve h and tighten everything at the same time.
The same arrangement is applicable as well to the case of FIG. 13 than that of fig. 1 and 2.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 16 to 21, which show the application of the invention to a brush, the new device com takes two branches a fixed on a handle n.
In the arrangement of FIG. 16, these two branches are formed by metal rods -folded so as to move away from one another, then suitably bent so as to bring their ends to the voi sinage of one another.
It is easy to engage a fringe m on the two branches by presenting them with the two openings of the slide formed at the upper part of the fringe. Once fully engaged, the bangs appear as shown in fig. 17. To prevent it from slipping on the branches, the ends o can be fixed to the handle, for example by means of a loop or a ring engaging on a hook of the handle, or by any other means.
The two branches a can also be parallel over all or part of their length as shown in FIG. 18; one or the other of the arrangements of FIG. 16 and fig. 18 can be adopted depending on the application. The fringe engaged on this frame takes the form shown in fig. 19.
In either of these arrangements, the branches a can be bent so as to form an angle with the handle (Fig. 20), and raised at their ends; this shape makes it possible to handle the brush so as to act above all with its tip as is done with ordinary brushes, while the arrangements of fig. 16 and 18 are especially advantageous in the case of tin utensils to be used as handle brushes.
Instead of a single fork, the frame can include two, ai and a2 (fig. 21), on which two fringes are engaged. By this means, one can obtain a larger and more efficient action utensil.
Finally, instead of a single fringe per fork, it is possible, if desired, to put a corresponding fringe on each branch or rod.
With reference to fig. 22, 23 and 24, the mature ar is formed by two parallel threads f 1 f2. Preferably, these two parallel yarns are obtained using a single yarn suitably folded over. One can, for example, take a strand of suitable length, weld the two ends together, so as to make a closed ring, bend it along a diameter; to double the wire, and finally to give it the curvature of the broom frame.
This frame can be fixed on the socket h ending the broom handle, for example, as shown in fig. 23 and 24, by means of a tightening bolt e with wing nut, tightening pads p q against the sleeve h. These plates and this bush have grooves where the strands of wire f 1 1 "fit.
The frame thus formed is light and elastic; the fringe adapts easily to it and the broom does not present sharp angles liable to damage the furniture.
Fig. 26 shows a variant in which the frame, made of two parallel strands of wire, is divided into two symmetrical halves. One of these halves is shown in perspective in fig. 25. This arrangement has the advantage of making assembly very easy, because it is obviously very easy to introduce the point of each of these halves into the fringe.
The junction on the socket can be effected in a manner similar to that of fig. 24. You can also engage the ends of each half of the reinforcement in a small flat block or plate, provided with conduits of diameter equal to that of the wire and tighten the whole by a bolt. The ends of the son f l f 2 may be permanently fixed in these blocks or else be engaged in a removable manner, taking care, in the latter case, to provide appropriate means to ensure the clamping.
In the variant of FIGS. 28 to 32, the mature back of the broom consists of a strip of flat iron a, suitably folded and presenting its part open towards the front. This strip is intended to receive a fringe which is engaged therein by causing the two points n of said strip to penetrate into the two ends of the hem of the fringe.
The rear part of the frame forms a fold p crossed by the fixing bolt b fitted with a wing nut e for tightening.
In this fold engages the pliers also constituted by a strip of flat iron q con venablement folded, the ends of which are embedded in a ferrule q 'ending the handle h ..
The band q is divided by a slot r into two branches, the slot is widened at r '(fig. 29) to receive the bolt. The two edges of the front part of the slot are bevelled r2.
The clamp being engaged on the bolt, when one wishes to modify the relative inclination of the brush and the handle, one loosens the nut of the bolt, one gives the desired inclination and one locks again.
When it is desired to separate the broom from the handle, it suffices, after having loosened the nut of the bolt, to separate the two parts; the branches of the pliers open and let the bolt escape b.
To put them back in place, we press the end of the pliers against the bolt; the rods r2 come to bear against the body of the bolt and determine the spacing of the branches of the clamp, when the body of the bolt arrives at r ', the branches close again and the brush and the clamp are linked together, we tighten then the bolt to secure the parts to the desired position.
In the arrangement of fig. 33 to 35, the mature ar is formed of two strips of lard films each having in its middle a fold p in the form of a flat loop. The backs of these folds applied against each other are riveted together. The frame is then constituted by two opposite forks on the branches ii of which one can adapt the fringes l (Fig. 35), by engaging. the hem of these fringes on said branches. This engagement is carried out with the greatest ease.
The frame has an axis b used for the fixing of the handle. To this end, this handle is terminated by two metal bands q folded in a hook and have slots r; aeils r ', which these slots end, are used to accommodate the axis b.
To adapt the handle to the frame, it suffices to present the end of the slots r to the axis b and to produce pressure; the branches open elastically and the axis is placed in the eyes r '. This my work can be facilitated, if care has been taken to bevel the edges of the openings ending the slits. Removal is done simply by pulling the handle away from the frame. The broom can tilt freely relative to the handle, but it is obvious that one could add to the elements which have just been described any suitable tightening means.
This broom has a large sweeping surface and therefore has great advantages in certain uses.
The above provisions are, of course, given only by way of example; the shapes, materials and dimensions, as well as any detail arrangements which may vary without go beyond the scope of the invention.
