Multi-needle lockstitch sewing machine. The invention relates to a double lockstitch sewing machine with a plurality of needles.
What is new is essentially that the needles are arranged one behind the other in the sewing direction.
The accompanying drawing partially illustrates an embodiment of the invention.
In the drawing, a and b are two needles arranged one behind the other in the sewing direction. In the front needle a, the part below the ear a 'is longer than the part of the needle b below the eye b', so that since the needle eye is at the same height, the point of the needle a extends further down than the point the needle b; c is the needle plate of the sewing machine, which is provided with a slot d for the needles to pass through, and e is a fabric passed over the needle plate in the direction of the arrow.
In order to make sewing with the present machine advantageous, the fabric feed must be greater than the distance between the two needles, and if, as is usually necessary, needle stitches are to be produced at the same distance, then one will Adjust the feed of the fabric so that it corresponds to twice the distance between the two needles. A special arrangement for this purpose is not necessary, because it is sufficient to adjust an existing stitch regulator as in any other sewing machine.
The point, i.e. the part of one needle below the eye, is longer than that of the other, so that when seams are formed, one needle can still remain in the fabric, while the other needle is always at the same time as the former is raised and lowered and so can sit on the same needle bar with her, has already been lifted out of the fabric.
The needle remaining in the fabric guides the fabric when it is turned so that it is easier to form corners in the seam. If both needles moved up and down at the same time were of the same length, turning the fabric when sewing corners would only be possible if both needles were outside the fabric. In this case, however, the fabric would have no guidance when turning, so that the seam corners would be slightly inaccurate, respectively. creating corners would be cumbersome and time-consuming.
The machine could have more than two needles, in which case the fabric feed rate would have to be greater than the sum of the needle distances for an advantageous sewing. In this design, it is advisable to choose the point of the foremost needle longer than the point of all the other needles.
