La fig. 1 montre, en vue de face, une feuille rectangulaire propre à permettre de former, après lui avoir fait porter des nervures et l'avoir pliée, les parois d'un moule en forme de tronc de pyramide droite, pour glace arti ficielle; La fig. 2 montre, en vue de face, cette feuille dans laquelle on a pratiqué les ner vures; Les fig. 3 et 4 montrent, respectivement en élévation et en plan, les parois de ce moule;
On ferme ensuite sur elle-même la tôle (y, ainsi nervurée, @de façon que ses nervures se trouvent en saillie vers. l'intérieur, en la. pliant sur elle-même, soit suivant des droiteç a parallèles aux droites aioo et, de préférence, également distantes de ces dernières droites (file. 1), soit suivant les plans de symétrie des nervures elles-mêmes;
Process for the manufacture of hollow bodies, with side walls formed by a developable surface. The invention relates to a method of manufacturing hollow bodies, with side walls formed by a developable surface; it can in particular be applied to the. manufacture of molds for liquid materials to be coagulated.
According to this process, one starts from a sheet and forms therein. Ribs directed in a direction corresponding to what must be the height of the container to be formed, brings the two opposite edges of the sheet towards one another. . leaf directed like the veins, and this so as to obtain a body formed by a developable surface and of which the two bases are located in, planes parallel to each other and have, if one supposes them materialized., their centers of gravity located on a right perpendicular to the said hases. If these bodies must constitute walls of .moulds, one operates,
preferably so that the ribs protrude inside said molds.
To bring the two said edges towards each other, we can. either fold the sheet following the lines between the ribs or in -the planes (the symmetry of the ribs themselves, or bend the sheet -so. to form a cylindrical or frustoconical body, with ribs. arranged along generators .
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, the stages of execution of such a process and the molds obtained in this way.
Fig. 1 shows, in front view, a rectangular sheet suitable for making it possible to form, after having made it bear ribs and having folded it, the walls of a mold in the form of a right truncated pyramid, for artificial ice; Fig. 2 shows, in front view, this sheet in which the nerves have been made; Figs. 3 and 4 show, respectively in elevation and in plan, the walls of this mold;
Figs. 5 and 6 show, in the same way as FIGS. 3 and 4, the walls of a mold (the same type, but of a different shape, obtained after folding a ribbed rectangular sheet similar to the previous one; Row 7 shows, in front view, a rectangular sheet ribbed and suitable to. allow to form, after folding, the walls of a mold of this same type, but of shape other than above; The rows. 8 and 9 finally show, in the same way as the rows 3 and 4, the walls of this last mold.
The molds shown, which are in the form of a trunk: of a straight pyramid and intended for the manufacture of artificial ice, can therefore be prepared, for example, as follows: We take a rectangular sheet of dimensions, -of nature and size. appropriate conductivity, and we practice: in one of its faces, so that they protrude on the other face, ribs d, of the kind .de those shown on the files. 2 to 9, preferably regularly spaced.
These ribs can be obtained by bending, stamping, sage, or otherwise, and such that, once formed - and: in the sup position that these ribs would then have been flattened to fit into the plane of the sheet, like the show the queue. 1 - each of them has its origin .on two straight lines a @, meeting .two opposite sides of the sheet (those which must constitute the upper and lower edges of the walls of the mold) and inclined symmetrically with respect to. a straight line perpendicular to said sides; which lines a1Q are, for: each rib, concurrent towards one of the edges of the sheet.
The sheet is then closed on itself (y, thus ribbed, @ so that its ribs are projecting inwardly, by folding it on itself, either following straight lines a parallel to the straight lines aio and , preferably also distant from these last straight lines (row. 1), or according to the planes of symmetry of the ribs themselves;
then the edges of the sheet to be connected are made integral with each other - this in any suitable manner, for example directly by welding, or, as shown by the files. 2 to 6 and 8 and 9, by beating and welding. (the one of these edges on the other, otherwise -; one obtains - thus a tubular body presenting itself, in the first case, as indicated on the rows. 3 to 6, and in the second case, as indicated on strands 8 and 9, which constitutes the walls of the mold and has the general shape of a right truncated pyramid, truncated pyramid of which the straight sections.
as well as: those of the formed ribs are decreasing -in a regular way from one end to the other and of which. the bases are located in planes perpendicular to the axis of symmetry of said tubular body.
The mold is then completed by making it understand in an appropriate manner which shell, towards its end of lesser section, a base (not shown) and, if deemed useful., A suitable shrinking system.
This mold, once made as it has been said, is ready to receive water from. Freeze there which, once @ - introduced. will be cooled to the desired degree, by any suitable means, for example by plunging said mold clans of the. brine at suitable temperature.
Following what. we obtain a mold for artificial ice which presents, on ordinary molds. in particular the following advantages Speed of cooling and, consequently, of the. neck -2-elation of water, given that the ribs, at the same time as they ensure the stiffening of the walls, increase the surface of these walls; in contact with the water to be frozen, that they advance towards the interior of the mold and that they are bathed by their interior surface dan; the brine which is thus brought closer to the core of the mold.
Quick demolding of the frozen block, thanks to the fact that the ribs widen towards the outlet opening of the mold, must be economical (ice, because we know that, to remove the block of ice <# from the mold, we quenching it in a bath of soft water; which nerves could, in order to obtain an even more rapid demolding, come by moving on the side opposite to the bottom of the mold, Easier and more regular fragmentation of the block of ice, if or wants to cut it, to: ca.use longitudinal grooves that it includes.
Simpler manufacturing. and consequently. economic glus from the mold, given that it is. obtained by starting from a rectangular sheet instead of a sheet comprising trapezoidal elements separated by the fold lines.
It is understood that, on the same principle, it is possible, starting from a rectangular sheet, to manufacture, by bending the sheet, ribbed molds in the form of a straight prism and, by bending the sheet, ribbed molds in the form of a straight prism. straight truncated cone or straight cylinder. the ribs, in the case of prismatic and straight cylindrical molds, being rec tilinear.
The ribs can be such that they protrude, or all of them. outside, or part outside and part inside.
