Self-igniting two-stroke fuel injection engine. It is known that the operation and efficiency of an internal combustion engine depend to a great extent on the proportions, shapes and arrangements of the combustion chamber.
In addition, in fuel injection engines, the shape of the jet as well as the position of the injector are also of great importance.
Finally, in pressure-self-ignition and hot-wall engines, the shape, position and mass of this wall significantly influence the efficiency and the regularity of operation.
The present invention relates to a two-stroke engine with fuel injection and self-ignition by pressure and hot pa king. This engine is characterized by a compression and combustion chamber of conical shape at the top of which an injector emerges directed along the axis of the chamber, the heating wall of this same chamber being arranged transversely with respect to the jet. Regular operation and excellent efficiency are obtained by this arrangement. The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view along the line I -I of FIG. 2 ;.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view along the line II-II of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a plan view of it ; FIG. 4, which is also a plan view, relates to a variant.
In fig. 1, 2 and 3, we see in 1 the cylinder dre inside which can move the piston 2 which ensures the distribution according to the two-stroke cycle by using for this purpose an exhaust port 4 and an orifice of ba air layage 3, corresponding defect surfaces being provided on the piston.
The latter, at its neutral point, on the cylinder head side, approaches as close as possible to the latter which presents towards the inside of the cylinder a face reproducing the shape of the end of the piston, so that the volume of air minimum between these two components is as small as possible and depends only on the practical possibilities of mechanical construction. - The compression and combustion chamber 5 formed in the cylinder head 6 is conical in shape; the injector 7 is placed at the top of the cone and directed along the axis of the latter, this axis being contained in that of the diametrical planes of the cylinder which symmetrically intersects the exhaust port 4 and the scanning orifice 3.
A water circulation chamber 3 is arranged around the cylinder 1 and above the cylinder head 6 which comprises, facing the jet, an attached wall 9, screwed on, and constituting the hot wall 9 of the chamber.
Communication between coni chamber 5 and cylinder 1 is effected by means of an opening 10 made in the part of the cylinder head, facing the interior of the cylinder.
This opening is triangular in shape; it is determined so that its width increases with the corresponding section of the chamber 5. For this purpose, it is limited by two generatrices of the cone. Its top coincides with the injector 7 and its base is close to the hot wall 9.
The operation of this engine is easily understood: The piston 2 in its stroke towards the cylinder head compresses in the chamber 5 almost the entire volume of air in the engine cylinder.
The fuel atomized by the injector 7 leaves the latter in a divided jet of conical shape. The width of the opening 10 increasing with the corresponding section of the chamber 5, the compression air flows from the cylinder into the latter in an amount all the greater as the distance from the top of the cone increases.
Thanks to the temperature of the compression and that of the heating plate 9, the fuel distributed in the volume ignites when the piston is at its neutral point, combustion taking place only in the chamber 5 of the cylinder head 6.
The combustion speed is maximum, the flame propagation perfect and the combustion complete. The output is consequently markedly improved, the power increased, the consumption reduced.
The operation of the engine is better thanks to the regularity of the combustion phenomena and the complete combustion of heavy oils also removes any fouling.
In the variant forming the subject of of FIG. 4, the opening is not arranged in a diametral plane of the cylinder, but laterally.
