Le .dessin annexé représente, à titre d'exemples, plusieurs formes d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention. Les fig. 1 et 2 sont, respectivement en section axiale et en vue en plan, une pre mière forme de réalisation du moteur; La fig. 3 est une section verticale suivant A-A de la fig. 1; Les fig. 4, 5 et -6 sont des vues similaires à la fig. 1, pour diverses positions du pis ton dans son cylindre; Les fig. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 sont des vues en plan schématiques pour diverses variantes de réalisation;
(fig. 11).
Internal combustion engine. The object of the invention is an internal combustion engine, in which the admission takes place @ inside a chamber whose cylindrical side wall has its generatrices parallel to the axis of the cylinder into which it opens. directly, the directrix of this wall being a closed -curve which has a common arc with a cross section of the cylinder, so as to direct in the latter a layer of gas which .subit, due to its meeting with the bottom of the piston, a gyratory movement in a constant direction, the speed of which is maximum at the end of compression.
In such an engine, the directrix of the side wall of the intake chamber can have at least two points of inflection, so as to allow, on injection engines, to impart to the fuel jet, gyratory movements of 'axes perpendicu lar to .celui of the air admitted into the cylinder.
The attached drawing represents, by way of examples, several embodiments of the object of the invention. Figs. 1 and 2 are, respectively in axial section and in plan view, a first embodiment of the motor; Fig. 3 is a vertical section along A-A of FIG. 1; Figs. 4, 5 and -6 are views similar to FIG. 1, for various positions of the udder in its cylinder; Figs. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 are schematic plan views for various alternative embodiments;
Fig. 12 is a circular diagram of the operating cycle of the embodiment (Figs. 1 to 6).
In the examples illustrated, the intake chamber 3 is also a combustion chamber. Its side wall has its generatrices parallel to the axis of the cylinder and its direction has a common arc B-B with the cross section @du cylinder, and two points of inflection C (fig. 2). One can - easily obtain such a chamber by drilling using a cylindrical milling cutter - which moves coaxially with the cylinder. The purge air inlet valve for two-stroke cycle operation is shown in 1, and the exhaust valve is shown in 2.
The fuel is sprayed by an injector 5, the jet of which is directed perpendicularly to the axis of the cylinder dre on the projection 6 between the two generators which pass through the points of inflection C. The piston 7 has on its bottom, a notch 4 whose projection on a plane perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder preferably corresponds in shape and size to that of the chamber 3.
It can be seen that the pure purging air sent into the cylinder, when the valves 1 and 2 are open, divides into sheets which, in the vicinity of the. , piston base change direction of movement (arrows in fig. 1.2 and 3).
When the valves 1 and 2 are closed, the movement of the sheets becomes a gyratory movement of constant direction, the speed of which increases as the piston rises (fig. 4, 5, 6). : to come as much as possible when the piston is at its top dead center (fig. 6). The jet of fuel from the injector 5 is, thanks to the sail 6, the radius of which is suitably defined, divided into two layers of gyratory movements perpendicular to the gyratory movements of the layers of pure air.
This ensures perfect atomization of the fuel in the fuel.
The notch 4 of the piston base can be adjusted in depth to determine the required compression ratio while allowing the piston to come, at top dead center, as close as possible to the cylinder base (fig. 6). The four-stroke cycle does not substantially modify the path of the layers or streams of air, or of the gas mixture prepared in suitable pro portions in a carburetor or its equivalent, before it enters the cylinder.
The rate of turn can be increased, either with clean air or with thunderous mixture, by introducing them under pressure into the cylinder, as is done in so-called supercharged engines.
With the same arrangement as that described, it is possible to use two valves 1 of the pure air inlet or of the inlet @ the thundering mixture (fig. 9), or two exhaust valves 2 and only one of intake 1 (fig. S), or two valves 1 and. two valves 2 (fig. 10).
It should be noted that the valves 1 and 2 can be replaced by sliding or rotating spools or distribution sleeves or jackets, without departing from the scope of the invention.
The shape of the chamber 3 shows an important advantage over cooled engines. In this case, the cooling air can pass at a very sensitive rate between the wall of the chamber 3 and the chapel (s) of the exhaust valves \? (fig. 11). In addition, the injection pipe 5 provided with fins, is in a very favorable position @ for its cooling. It is also possible to provide several fuel injection nozzles suitably oriented to obtain the indicated gyratory movements.
An example of operation under the 'two-stroke cycle' of the engine-perfected in accordance with the invention is given by the diagram of FIG. 12.
0E is the advance at the opening of the exhaust valve before bottom dead center (PMB), the closing taking place in FE after this @.
OR is the opening of the balancing valve generally occurring before the neutral PJIB, its position. being -determined so that the pressure in the cylinder is lower than that of the bathing air. During the period between OR and FE, the two valves 1 and 2 are or green together and the flushing of the burnt gases takes place according to the arrows indicated (fig. 1 and 2).
In the period included between FE and FB valve 2 is closed and air continues to enter the cylinder despite the ascent (the piston; if the pressure d There is sufficient air when valve 1 is closed, the quantity of air contained in the cylinder may be greater than that which would correspond to normal com pressure; there is therefore overfeeding. valve 1, the air introduced following the arrows (fig. 1, 2) takes a closed vortex movement (fig. 4). During the ascent of the piston, the vortex zone is flattened (fig. to) .
When the piston 7 reaches its PHH, almost all of the air is contained in the chamber d without the gyratory movement having changed direction. The turning speed is then maximum. The fuel injection takes place at i.
