Device for the typical binding of loose-leaf sheets. The object of the present invention is a device for the temporary key binding of loose sheets. This device is characterized by vertical guide rods along which the sheets are superimposed and by a clamping device placed above the bundle , to compress these, leaflets and who.
can move along the guide rods and be fixed at a point of the height of the latter.
The accompanying drawing represents, to tiîr ## by example, embodiments of the object of the invention.
The embodiment (fig. 1 to 8 com takes two bars connected by metal plugs, these bars being incorporated into the flats of the binding, therefore without any protruding or even visible part outside # -outside.
In the bottom dish is incorporated the bar shown in fig. 1, 2, 3.
It is formed by a blade 1 (of wood or metal) in which are formed two openings 2 leaving a projecting circular tongue 3 in the median plane of the thickness . In the lower flare fits a metal washer 4 poun-ue of a collar 5, threaded internally and externally, which passes through the blade 1. On this collar à is screwed, by the external step, a metal washer 6, so that the assembly, once in place, strongly tightens the tab 3 < / B> and in some way forms a body with the blade 1, which thus ultimately has a tapped hole.
A metal plug will be screwed into this hole perpendicular to the blade 1 and to the flat of the binding.
The thread that enters the ron delle 4 must be long enough for the card to have a solid base because it is subjected in the handling of the binding to forces quite energetic torsion which she said to resist. This is what obliges to user of the double washer 4 to 6 and to not to be satisfied with a simple thread threaded in a blade that is too thin. The set 4 to 6 to 7 is easily removable.
The file 7 is shown in fig. 1; it offers four circular grooves 8 to 8, 9 to 91. The grooves 8 to 8 are intended for to the engagement of the spring bar which presses the leaflets, the number and height of which may vary.
This bar is shown in fig. 4 and 5. It consists of a lower wound blade 10 which rests on the leaflets and which is provided with eyes It for the exact passage of the files 7 which immobilize it.
On this strip 10 is fixed, by its two ends, an elastic strip 12, the midpoint of which is fixed to an upper strip 13.
The blade 13 is provided with eyes for the passage of the pins 7, but these eyes comprise a circular part 14 of the external diameter of the pins and an elongated part < B> 15 whose width is only the diameter of the bottom of the grooves 8.
Once the blade 10 is in place, the blade 13 is threaded onto the pins and it is slid vertically then horizontally so as to compress the spring 12 and to engage the slot 15 in that of the grooves 8 which fits according to the height of the sheets; these are therefore compressed and maintained perfectly. When you want to open the register and y introduce other sheets, it is good to be able to break this tightening, without however completely loosening the link. This is to what the lower throat of the top 9 ', can serve as it is easy to see.
This groove makes it possible to increase the number of layers if necessary. When the sheets are thus put in place and tightened, it is necessary that the upper flat of the binding fits the free end of the sheets 7 and y is maintained.
For this, we incorporate in the dish a wooden strip provided with mortises which come to rest on the cards and to y them, we use the zipper shown in fig. 6 to 7.
It is a flat blade 16, held on the bottom blade by heads sliding in the longitudinal slots 17; in addition, the ti rette has eyes 18 identical to eyes 14 to 15 of the spring bar, that is to say, which can allow the plug 7, to pass through and then engage in the upper groove 9 and y be thus maintained. The maneuver is done by the tab 19 which does not exceed the edge of the upper plate.
To allow and facilitate the opening of the flat sheets, it is advisable to mark them as seen on the fig. 8 of four lines produced by simple tracing or embossing and not by breaking, breaking or shearing, some 20 to 20 upset on one side, the other 20 ' at 20 'on the other side; any other tracing, embossing or breaking can moreover be used as as you wish.
In order to avoid the machining of the grooves 8 on the sheets 7, they can be made by the turns of a coil spring wrapped around these sheets 7.
In the execution faith of fig. 9 and 10, a number of mortises 8 ' are provided in file 7 (fig. < B> 9), to various binders.
The bar with spring then comprises, on its upper plate 13, the opening 14 necessary for the passage of the card and the window 15 ' which complete this perforation is simply lengthened; but from the bottom opposite to the entry of the card rises a tab 9-1 coming to the cutter or to the cast iron; this tongue will have a section such that it can easily penetrate into the 8 "mortises.
It will therefore be understood that, in order to put the bar with in place, it suffices as before to thread it on the plugs 7 which pass through it through the openings 14, then slide it parallel to itself lengthwise, making the tabs 21 penetrate the mortises 8 \. </ B >
As soon as we abandon the bar, with the spring playing, the tabs will be firmly pressed against the upper bottom of the 8 ' mortises and the bar will be immobilized.
If you want even more absolute security, all you have to do is provide -a light shoulder 22 (fig. 11) at the end of the lanes 21 and make the mortises 8 'of so that they let these openings pass through their lower part, but their upper part is narrower, forming a stop, radically preventing the return of the tabs and the bar which carries them.
In the embodiments of FIGS. 12, 13, 14 and there, the surface of the file 7 is hollowed out perpendicular grooves to a-xe 8 to 8 extremely close; but the section of the plug is not entirely circular, two symmetrical segments 23 have been cut down over the entire height and the grooves do not exist on these flats.
Furthermore, a washer 24 forming a nut can be slipped onto the plug 7 above the bar. spring .13; its central opening 25 has two tabs 26 which allow the nut to slide freely, if they are placed opposite the flats 23, but which, on the contrary, for a rotation of the nut, engage in the groove 8 located at their level; and we immediately understand how the positive device works.
The paper threads through two exact perforations on the smooth straight or semicircular cards that hold it. In the middle of the edge, a large perforation lets pass the corrugated card 7 which does not touch the paper at all.
Likewise, the smooth plugs pass exactly through the spring bar 13 and the corrugated plug crosses it widely at 14. When the device is in place, it suffices to turn the nut 24 so that the tabs 26 are on the flats 23 so that the spring bar 13 can go down or up freely. When the chosen tightening has been given, a quarter turn to the nut 24 instantly fixes the spring bar 13 to the desired height.
For these movements to be safe and easy, the nut 24 is connected to the upper bar 14, by two rivets 27, with quarter-circle grooves 28 stopping the movements of the nut, to the fixing position or to the sliding position. In addition, the grooves 8 to 8, can be given instead of a rec tangular section, a Z section (fig. 14) so that the tongue 26 does not not in front of it a stop surface but on the contrary a bevel placing it immediately, within a thread, at the selected level.
As the paper is not in contact with moving parts, there is no risk of it being scratched, grabbed or torn off, and since the smooth, straight or semicircular cards pass through it exactly. it is, however, perfectly fixed. The tightening is given with great ease and precision.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 16, 17 and 18, the, file 7 is provided with grooves 8 in as many as possible.
The spring bar has a 10 sliding blade with holes for the passage of the guide pins; the blade 13 is connected to 10 by a spring 12 whose ends can play, thanks to buttons, in slots of 10.
The fixing plug 7 crosses the two blades 10 and 13 and the sheets by slits or perforations without adjustment so that the movements are very easy . On the upper surface of the blade 13 are pivoted two articulated locks'28. When the correct pressure has been given,
it suffices to make these locks enter the notch which is located flush with the blade 13 for the device to be perfectly secured.
Instead of locks articulated on 13, one could provide two sliding locks parallel to the axis, of the bar 13 in one eon - smooth of the blade 1,3 and pushed by a tab, cominc la, pull tab # in fig. 7.
As it will be easy to make very close 8 grooves, there will always be one in front of the locking pawl.
