Process for the preparation of a sulfur-containing cotton dye. The invention is based on the observation that new, valuable, sulfur-containing cotton dyes are formed when p.Alkyl-oxy-o-aminothiophenyls with arylquinones, in particular with halogenated benzoquinones,
condensed and the thus obtained Kon- cler.sationsprodukte a re-sulphurisation with the usual sulphurising agents are subjected. Its object is the preparation of such a dye by condensation of p.
Ethoxy-o-aminothiophenol with a halogenated benzo-c-hinone, for example with chloranil, and sodium sulphites of the condensation obtained in this way, product by heating with aliphatic sulfide.
The p. Athoxy-o-aminothiophenol can also be used in the form of an equivalent compound, which in the course of the reaction p. Athoxy-o-aminothiophenol is generated, for example in the form of the product of action of chlorosulphur on p described in the Swiss patent no. 77187 . Phenitidine, or in the form of the compound created by the action of water in the presence of acetate or chalk.
The new dye is a reddish brown powder when dry; In concentrated sulfuric acid it dissolves with a blue color, from the sulfur-sodium bath or in the hydrosulphite vat it dyes cotton a deep red-brown. The colors are wash, light and chlorinefast.
Example: 28 kg chloranil, 20 kg 1). Ethoxy-o-aminothiophenol (in the form of zinc mercaptide) - and 400 kg spirit are refluxed for several hours, the condensation product is almost completely eliminated after the reaction has ended. It is diluted ver with water, filtered, and the filter material is washed to remove the zinc completely, first with dilute acid and then with water until neutral.
For further sulphurization, the glass filter is well stirred into a polysulphide solution made from 80 kg of crystalline sodium sulphide, 20 kg of sulfur and about 100 liters of water and the whole thing is refluxed for a long time (about 48 hours). Most of the sulphurized dye is eliminated after the reaction has ended; Any portions remaining in solution are obtained in a known manner by blowing in air or precipitating with dilute acids. The dye is filtered off. and, if necessary, cleans it by dissolving and reprecipitating with air or acids.
In the first phase of the reaction, the p. Ethoxy-o-aminothiophenol can be replaced by the action product of chlorine sulfur on p, described in Swiss Patent No. 77187. Phenitidine or the compound formed from the same by the action of water.
You then proceed as follows, for example: 25 hg chloranil and 24 kg of the product of the action mentioned, probably of the following constitution:
EMI0002.0010
are made into a paste with 250 kg of glacial acetic acid or alcohol and the mixture is heated for several hours. An acid-binding agent is expediently added to neutralize the hydrochloric acid released. After the reaction has ended, the condensation product is completely separated out by dilution with water and filtered. It is identical to the one from p. Ethoxy-o-aminotliophene-derived body.
