Additional patent to main patent no. 122072. Process for the preparation of an indigo-blue-colored quinone vat dye. If the reaction product resulting from the condensation of the product of action of sulfur chloride on o-anisidine with aniline is of the following constitution:
EMI0001.0004
Treated with alkalis, expediently in the presence of a reducing agent, the result is an alkylidated o-aminoaryl mercaptan of the following constitution:
EMI0001.0007
The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of an indigo blue coloring quinone vat dye with the following formula:
EMI0001.0010
which is characterized in that the reaction product resulting from the action product of chlorine sulfur on o-anisidine by condensation with aniline of the following constitution:
EMI0001.0012
initially with an.Alkali, expediently treated in the presence of a reducing agent, whereby it is converted into the alkali salt of 1-methoxy-2-amino-5-phenylamino-3-phenylmer- kaptans of the following constitution:
EMI0002.0001
passes over, whereupon a condensation @ <tiori mii chloranil is made.
Example: 1.6 kg of the reaction product of the following constitution arising from the product of the action of sulfur chloride on o-anisidine by condensation with aniline:
EMI0002.0009
are made into a paste with about four to five times the amount of water or alcohol and gradually introduced into an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, which contains about 12 to 15 hg of caustic e3 and advantageously 5 to 10 lg of sodium hydrosulfite, while stirring.
The mixture is heated to 30 to 50 C for a short time; The mixture is decolorized and dissolved, if necessary, small amounts of impurities remaining undissolved are filtered off and the filtrate is dissolved in excess chlorine zinc solution; which has been made slightly acidic with acetic acid. The zinc enterid of the new compound excretes as a thick white precipitate, it is filtered and washed out thoroughly.
The filter material is then mixed with five to ten times its weight alcohol, acetic acid or water, 1? up to 15 kg of chloranil are added and the mixture is stirred for several hours at ordinary temperature. The mixture gradually turns blue, the temperature is increased slowly to boiling and held until the end of the reaction.
After cooling, it is acidified to remove the zinc, which is precipitated out by filtration and re-washed. - The dye paste obtained in this way is immediately suitable for dyeing and printing.
In the dry state, the dye is a bronzef.glairzend "dark blue powder, soluble in lionzeritri (-rtei- seliulfuric acid with blue color. He f <i.rbt @@" ollf @ from the hydrosulfite vat and space wool in the hot seliwefeln, it : riurnli <id eelit indigo blue.
