Abstract

La présente invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés pour coordonner et commander des véhicules, par exemple des poids lourds, pour qu'ils se suivent à proximité les uns derrière les autres, ou pour les relier pour qu'ils forment un convoi, d'une manière pratique et sûre et ainsi économiser des quantités significatives de carburant tout en augmentant la sécurité. Dans un mode de réalisation, des contrôleurs embarqués dans chaque véhicule interagissent avec des capteurs des véhicules pour surveiller et commander, par exemple, la distance relative, l'accélération/décélération relative et la vitesse. Diverses données sont fournies par les systèmes embarqués dans les véhicules à un centre d'exploitation de réseau (centre NOC), et, dans certains modes de réalisation, des suggestions de véhicules pour une mise en convoi sont reçues du centre NOC sur la base de prévision de circulation et d'une analyse des routes significatives pour identifier des segments de route permettant une mise en convoi. Le centre NOC peut également fournir des mises à jour pour la circulation, les routes, la météo ou les systèmes ainsi que diverses instructions.
