Abstract

L'invention concerne un stent extensible, implantable dans un vaisseau sanguin ou dans une autre lumière corporelle, permettant de conserver la perméabilité de ladite lumière. Ce stent comprend une pluralité de modules de stent reliés entre eux. Chaque module de stent comprend un premier et un second segment reliés par un premier et un second connecteur, placés sur les côtés diamétralement opposés dudit module. Ces premier et second segment sont formés en motif sinusoïdal, et sont mobiles entre des configurations repliée et déployée. Les modules de stent sont couplés le long d'un axe longitudinal commun avec des éléments de connexion s'étendant entre les connecteurs des modules adjacents. Cet agencement produit un stent présentant une flexibilité longitudinale optimale ainsi qu'une stabilité radiale. Ces modules peuvent être fabriqués à l'aide d'un procédé automatique utilisant un équipement bon marché, à partir d'un nombre pair de fils métalliques de longueur sensiblement égale. Selon un autre mode de réalisation de l'invention, un matériau de greffe peut être fixé entre des sections de parois de fil métallique du stent, afin de distribuer des médicaments sur le site d'une lésion cible.
