Abstract

"PROCESSO PARA OXIDAR UM SUBSTRATO" Esta invenção descreve um novo processo para deslignificar seletivamente materiais lignocelulósicos e para o alvejamento de polpas e corantes usando uma combinação de uma enzima oxidativa e de um complexo metálico. Mais especificamente, o processo envolve a oxidação de um complexo de redox de metal de transição por uma enzima que oxida fenol, tal que lacase ou peroxidase, para mediar a deslignificação catalítica de polpa mecânica e para o alvejamento de corante têxtil. Este processo é único pelo fato de que apenas uma quantidade catalítica do mediador do complexo metálico é requerida em polpa Kraft de madeira mole e de madeira dura, e pelo fato de que é possível a reciclagem ou regeneração do mediador para deslignificação de polpa posterior. O mediador de redox é caracterizado pelo fato de que ele contém um íon de metal de transição coordenado com moléculas ou íons, de tal modo que os complexos possuam um potencial de redox formal entre 0,5 e 1,2 volt, medido contra um eletrodo de hidrogênio normal.
