<B>''PROCESSO PARA A RECUPERAçãO DE POLIéSTER A PARTIR DE RESìDUO DE POLIéSTER CONTAMINADO E PROCESSO PARA A RECUPERAçãO DE DIMETILTEREFTALATO E ALQUILENO GLICOL A PARTIR DE RESìDUO DE POLIéSTER CONTAMINADO''<D> A presente invenção se refere a um processo para a recuperação de um poliéster, preferencialmente tereftalato de polietileno, a partir de resíduo de poliéster contaminado contendo componentes que não sejam de poliéster, tais como poliéster misturado com algodão ou outras fibras em forma de fios ou tecido, fitas magnéticas de poliéster, filmes de poliéster revestidos e resinas de engenharia, através da dissolução do poliéster em dimetiltereftalato, metil-p-toluato ou dimetilisoftalato fundido como solvente, separando-se a solução de poliéster dos componentes que não sejam de poliéster. O poliéster pode ser subseq³entemente recuperado através de cristalização ou a solução de polímero pode ser utilizada na forma de material de alimentação para metanólise, para formar dimetiltereftalato (DMT) e alquileno glicol. O DMT pode ser subseq³entemente hidrolisado, a fim de recuperar o ácido tereftálico (TPA).
