Abstract
"JUNTA QUE COMPREENDE UM MATERIAL MACIO POSSUINDO DUAS SUPERFìCIES FACIAIS OPOSTAS E UMA SUPERFìCIE DE BORDA, E, PROCESSOS PARA MELHORAR A VEDAçãO DE UMA LMINA DE JUNTA MACIA E PARA APLICAçãO DE UM REVESTIMENTO SOBRE UMA BORDA DE ABERTURA DE UMA LMINA MACIA DE JUNTA". Uma junta que é resistente a falha por compressão, mesmo em pressões operacionais de flange na faixa de cerca de 3.000 a cerca de 15.000 psi e possuindo, ainda, uma boa capacidade de vedação, compreende um material macio de junta possuindo duas superfícies faciais opostas e uma abertura com uma borda perpendicular às superfícies faciais, na qual a borda da abertura possui um revestimento de polímero (revestimento A) sobre a borda para uma boa capacidade de vedação. Nesta configuração, exceto para o revestimento A, a junta não é revestida de outro modo, o que torna a junta resistente a falha por compressão. Em configurações que exigem melhor capacidade de vedação, pelo menos uma das superfícies faciais opostas possui revestimento B de polímero, que pode topar tanto com a borda como com revestimento A de polímero, na qual o revestimento B de polímero sobre as superfícies faciais opostas deixa a junta sem revestimento para capacidade de vedação em uma quantidade eficaz para dar à junta resistência a falha por compressão.
