Abstract

"MéTODO PARA REDUZIR A FORMAçãO DE FASE BETA EM FORMA DE PLAQUETA PRIMáRIA EM LIGAS DE ALSi CONTENDO FERRO, EM PARTICULAR EM LIGAS DE AL-Si-Mn-Fe". O ferro é uma impureza nociva nas ligas de alumínio, uma vez que ele faz com que as fases intermetálicas ricas em ferro duras e quebradiças se precipitem durante a solidificação. A fase mais nociva na microestrutura é a fase beta do tipo Al~ 5~FeSi, devido à sua forma de plaqueta. A presente invenção apresenta um método de produção de ligas de Al contendo ferro mediante o controle e a regulagem da trajetória de precipitação durante a solidificação de maneira tal que a precipitação das fases intermetálicas contendo Fe começa com a precipitação da fase hexagonal do tipo Al~ 8~Fe~ 2~Si. A presença da fase do tipo Al~ 8~Fe~ 2~Si. A presença da fase do tipo Al~ 8~Fe~ 2~Si resulta no fato que a fase beta não irá desenvolver a morfologia de plaqueta comum, porém irá se nuclear na fase do tipo Al~ 8~Fe~ 2~Si e cobri-la, que por sua vez tem uma morfologia menos nociva. Além disso, a invenção define o uso de análise térmica como um meio para controlar a morfologia dos precipitados.
