é provido um gene cry1ab/cry1aczm, um kit de expressão, vetor de expressão e célula hospedeira compreendendo o gene, e um uso do gene no melhoramento vegetal. proteínas codificadas pelo gene cry1ab/cry1aczm podem ser expressadas in monocotiledôneas, e adicionalmente usadas para melhorar monocotiledôneas resistentes a insetos de gene trans-cry1ab/cry1aczm. experimentos de bioensaio provam que um produto de expressão do gene cry1ab/cry1aczm tem um efeito de exterminação em pragas lepidópteras.
