trata-se de uma unidade de motor resfriado a ar, em que a deterioração de um catalisador é minimizada mesmo que o catalisador seja fornecido próximo a um corpo principal de motor. uma unidade de motor resfriado a ar (11) tem uma razão de compressão de 10 ou maior e inclui um catalisador próximo à câmara de combustão (53) fornecido em um membro de passagem de escape (51). um comprimento de trajetória de uma primeira porção do membro de passagem de escape (51), sendo que a primeira porção fica a partir de uma porta de escape até o catalisador (53), é mais curto do que um comprimento de trajetória de uma segunda porção do membro de passagem de escape (51), sendo que a segunda porção é a partir do catalisador (53) a uma porta de descarga para atmosfera (64a).
