Abstract
"INIBIçãO DE CAREPA ELETROQUìMICA". A invenção refere-se a um processo para redução da escamação de uma superfície de metal exposta a uma solução aquosa da qual a carepa pode se formar depois de um período de exposição. O processo compreende aplicar um potencial catódico na superfície por pelo menos um pouco do período da exposição. Em alguns casos, por exemplo quando um artigo é feito de um metal ferroso, é vantajoso revestir o artigo com um metal diferente (por exemplo, cobre ou uma liga de cobre) antes de aplicar o potencial catódico para evitar a geração do hidrogênio e fluxo excessivo de corrente. Um artigo a ser protegido contra a escamação pode também ser vantajosamente isolado eletricamente das outras partes de um aparelho.
