Abstract

"BARREIRA à CHAMA EM GRANDES LARGURAS NãO-TECIDAS". A invenção refere-se à barreira à chama não-tecida bem-adequada para o uso em colchão, mobília estofada e outras aplicações de uso final onde um material não-tecido em grandes larguras é desejado para finalidades de barreira à chama. Uma barreira à chama em grandes larguras não-tecida preferida da invenção compreende uma combinação de fibras, que são inerentemente resistentes a fogo e não encolhimento essencial à chama direta, com fibras de melamina sendo preferidas ou sozinhas ou, em combinação com, por exemplo, fibras à base de raiom de viscose, fibras extrudadas a partir de polímeros produzidos com monómeros halogenados e de preferência fibras aglutinantes de baixo ponto de fusão, que são termicamente ativadas em um processo de fabricação em grandes larguras para prover baixa densidade aparente, propriedades de resiliência e isolamento na aplicação final. As combinações de fibras preferidas são projetadas para resistir períodos prolongados de tempo expostos à chama aberta com encolhimento mínimo da barreira de carvão, desse modo evitando que chamas "atravessem" a barreira de carvão e inflamação dos materiais subjacentes. Outras fibras de componente podem também, opcionalmente, estar incluídas tais como: fibras naturais, para aperfeiçoar economia de produto na aplicação de uso final. A barreira à chama em grandes larguras desta invenção também permite a fabricação de artigos compósitos resistentes à chama aberta, enquanto também permitindo o uso continuado de tecidos de cobertura de roupa não-retardantes de chama convencionais, enchimentos com fibras não-retardantes de chama e espumas de poliuretano não-retardantes de chama convencionais.
