Abstract

"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA SELECIONAR UM PONTO DE ACESSO EM REDE SEM FIO". Um método e aparelho para utilização em uma rede de comunicação sem fio busca o melhor ponto de acesso de uma estação-base como função da qualidade de enlace de comunicação e de níveis de carga, assim permitindo que o terminal do assinante reaja a mudanças nas condições de RF e níveis de carga. Em uma implementação, o modem sem fio em uma rede de acesso sem fio fixa inicia um algoritmo de busca de ponto de acesso em resposta a uma condição de disparo, como a ligação inicial do terminal do assinante ou a degradação da qualidade do enlace de comunicação ou de níveis de carga. Após detectar sinais de radiotransmissão para uma pluralidade de pontos de acesso de vizinhos, o modem sem fio seleciona o melhor ponto de acesso como função da qualidade de enlace de comunicação e níveis de carga relativos para manter qualidade de serviço adequada e reagir a mudanças nos níveis de carga. Após uma seleção inicial, o modem sem fio pode monitorar continuamente as condições de qualidade/carga para determinar se deve selecionar um novo ponto de acesso.
