Abstract
"ISOLADOS BACTERIANOS DO GêNERO KLEBSIELLA E UM GENE DE SINTASE ISOMALTULOSE ISOLADO DELES". Duas cepas de novas espécies bacterianas, Klebsiella singaporensis LX3 e LX21, são reivindicadas. Uma seq³ência de nucleotídio (kis) codificando uma nova forma de sintase isomaltulose, KIS, também é reivindicada. Também é reivindicado um método para a produção de isomaltulose em uma planta, no qual o método compreende introduzir em uma célula de tal planta uma seq³ência de ácido nucléico, que codifica uma enzima que converte sacarose em isomaltulose, de uma maneira que permite que a dita célula expresse a dita seq³ência de ácido nucléico, bem como um método de clonagem funcional de isolar a seq³ência de nucleotídio codificando a proteína KIS, compreendendo as etapas de (a) preparar um banco de genes de um organismo doador que contém uma codificação de seq³ência de DNA para uma atividade de biossíntese de isomaltulose em um organismo hospedeiro adequado; (b) selecionar os clones de interesse do banco de genes pelos seus teores de açúcar redutor melhorados; e (c) isolar os clones que contêm uma codificação de DNA para uma proteína com atividade de biossíntese de isomaltulose.
