Abstract
"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA DETECTAR E EVITAR EXCESSO DE LARGURA DE FAIXA EM UM MULTIPLEXADOR ESTATìSTICO". Técnicas para determinar a taxa de saída para um feixe de bits, sendo a taxa de saída determinada aplicando-se informações lidas a partir de um feixe de bits para as larguras de faixa disponíveis. As técnicas são empregadas para construir um multiplexador estatístico 80 que multiplexa feixes de bits com variadas taxas de bit. As taxas de saída mínima e máxima para cada feixe de bit são determinadas de tal modo que nem uma fila para o feixe de bits no multiplexador, nem o decodificador de feixe de bits irá provocar estouro negativo ou excesso. O multiplexador primeiro aloca a cada feixe de bits sua largura de faixa mínima e, em seguida, aloca qualquer largura de faixa restante para os feixes de bit na proporção da diferença entre as taxas de saída mínima e máxima para os feixes de bit, onde nenhum feixe de bits recebe mais que sua taxa de saída máxima. Se houver largura de faixa suficiente para dar a cada feixe de bit sua taxa mínima, quadros de cola poderão ser introduzidos, ou canais de baixa prioridade pingados.
