STAAR DEVELOPMENT COMPANY S.A. - BRUSSELS - BELGIUM.
WATERPROOF PACKAGING FOR VERY SMALL DOSES OF LIQUIDS,
PASTA OR POWDER.
The purpose of the present invention is to provide
waterproof, economical, reliable and aesthetic packaging for very small doses of liquids, pastes or powders.
There are many cosmetic, pharmaceutical or industrial products for which it is very interesting to be able to package very small individual doses, for example, one or two drops of a liquid.
We also propose means to achieve
extremely flat packaging, pleasant to handle and take away.
Another goal is to offer packaging whose content can be released easily but safely,
Another aim is to offer packaging which can be carried out on simple machines, at very high rates, without waste of raw materials.
To achieve these goals, means are essentially proposed for juxtaposing and welding, or bonding, in a tight but semi-permanent manner, two flat plastic surfaces in order to trap the product to be packaged therebetween,
means are provided for permanently or semi-permanently maintaining the packaged product before, during and after
sealing, and means are provided to facilitate the gripping of the 2 flat parts for the release of the content.
Means are provided for the safe use or gripping of the packaged product.
Means are provided to be able to produce a flat assembly, without pollution at the location of the peelable thermal weld.
To achieve these goals, we propose to distort
temporarily or permanently, part of one or more flat parts forming the packaging when assembled and welded, in order to create the hollow volume necessary to retain the product
to be packaged without it polluting the part intended
bonding or thermal welding of the flat elements and thus allow the production of a perfectly reliable peelable weld.
We also offer a shorter part of a
of the two flat parts, relative to each other, to allow
faster gripping.
It is also proposed that certain products are already impregnated in a room capable of retaining the product,
and it is the assembly which will be conditioned by the same means proposed above.
To facilitate the safe use or gripping of the packaged product, it is expected that the two surfaces
cannot be completely dissociated when opening the packaging, thanks to a part of the weld surface produced
permanently, for example by a higher heat seal temperature there.
In certain types of manufacturing, the two surfaces can be produced by a single piece folded in half.
When the two surfaces are separated by peeling, the permanent welded part, or the fold forming a hinge will maintain the 2 surfaces at the appropriate level.
Some products can be used directly, without manual contact with the content.
In the case of products impregnated in a small absorbent part, the latter may possibly, by thermal welding, be integral with one of the two flat parts forming the packaging.
The system therefore makes it possible to carry out a packaging which can very easily release the conditioned product with very little effort, without the risk of inadvertent rupture by accidental pressure, as can commonly happen in a bag, pocket, luggage, etc ...
In order to clearly understand the invention, the following non-limiting examples will be described.
In FIG. I a front view is shown
and in profile of a package composed of two flat surfaces I and 2 and a weld 3 of circular shape.
When the two surfaces are juxtaposed, the product to be packaged between them will be trapped by the weld.
As the surfaces are flat, the product will normally spread partly at the place and beyond the weld surface, polluting and randomly changing the qualities
of the weld to be made through the product.
FIG. 2, shows how provision can be made to temporarily deform one or more flat surfaces in order to create
a local trough, so that when superimposing the
2 surfaces, the product does not extend to the place provided for welding.
Provision is made, for example, of a strip of flexible plastic material 5 which is positioned on a tool 6
of a machine.
This tool includes slight recesses 7. When a depression is created in these recesses by conduits 8, the material 5 comes to conform to the shape of the recess, and the part 9 of
the plastic 5 has a momentary trough - sufficient
<EMI ID = 1.1> of liquid 10.
A flat sealing strip II can then come juxtaposed with the flat strip 5, and a tool 12 can weld, by melting a layer of peelable plastic material 13, one surface to the other.
Therefore, depression is no longer necessary since the product is trapped.
Each unit or group of units can then be cut or pre-cut, for example by a tool 14.
These light recesses can also be formed permanently by stamping or thermoforming.
FIG. 3 shows that a part 15 can also be guilloche or groove so that all of their hollows create sufficient volume to receive the product to be packaged.
The two juxtaposed parts hold together by the local weld 4 FIG. I - 3, and you can grab the edges to separate the two surfaces by peeling, arrows
16-17.
One can also provide a shorter part 18, of one of the two surfaces to facilitate the gripping of the edges.
FIG. 4, shows how for example a product can be absorbed in a small part 19, which can be trapped between the two surfaces, for example in a momentary recess 9, as described in the example of FIG. 2.
To prevent the product from escaping from its packaging during an inadequate or too sudden complete separation of the two surfaces, it is provided that at the end of the peeling stroke, means prevent the complete separation of the surfaces by a welded part. permanently 20, FIG. 6, or, for example, by two surfaces produced by a piece folded in half, FIG. 5. Thus, the packaged product cannot accidentally escape by gravity when accessing it.
